The launcher will automatically download the latest updates, this is what it did for updates in Premium Beta. You should then have the multiplayer option where the fun begins.

Launcher will either ask for you to re-download it from the shop - in case new launcher is released, which seems most likely the case for me - or it will just show 'Upgrade' button, hit it and it will upgrade.

Will it be incremental upgrade - I doubt that, too much changes between versions, but who knows.

I have been playing single player scenarios.
So when Standard Beta arrives latter today how to get started?
will the launcher auto modify on log in? Or do we Go back to My account and My downloads?

When you open the game launcher you will log-in as usual but after you do the launcher will have "Update" instead of "Play".

Maybe a stupid question, but what's the difference between PB and SB and is it possible to grab either now?

As far as I know for SB at present you just get the combat scenarios. For PB you got the combat scenarios, multi-player testing for trade and combat as well as free expansion packs when they are released. Premium beta is closed now.
When today's update is released both PB and SB will be in the same universe. The last 3 newsletters have details of what is likely to be in the update.

Frontier are showing their corporate money making side again, I know you guys have to make money, (I'm a share holder so you wont get any arguments from me) but It's not pleasant when you get so obviously mercenary.

I can't imagine that so late to the closure of each stage many people buy in, and I would have thought the reputational damage in the ED community was not outweighed by any last minute purchases.

Did you witness how it happened with alpha? It was embarrassing the way FD dragged it out. Each week there was another, "one more week only!!!", like a never-ending discount sale at DFS.

I think the game is looking great but FD's PR machine has always been rather lacking.

I wonder, would you have said the same thing had Frontier done the exact opposite to their surprise extension, and ended the offer before the advertised date? I think you would have.

What is the corollary?
