Private Data Beacons In Colonia Region

Ok, so I'm starting to pull my own hair out.....!

I'm out near Colonia, trying to get Mel Brandon to finish clean engineering my drives. For this, I need a load of Abnormal Compact Emissions Data. That's fine...I'll just hop around some systems, enter some Encoded Emission sources and scan some Private Data Beacons, right......?

....Wrong! After about 15 hours of gameplay and countless data sources and I have found exactly 3 data beacons! Where have they all gone? I wouldn't even mind getting lower grade data and trading up!

I have resorted to using my wake scanner to trade up wake data and then convert to emissions! That cant be right! What am I missing? Scanning ships, also virtually never gives data (getting about 1/50).

1) Don't use clean drives, use dirty drives. Virtually always better (except when running a stealth build)
2) I don't have many of them either, I tend to do PAX missions to get Mod. Emb.Firmware and trade them

I’ve been stealing them, hauling them out into a region called The Abyss. Figured something was needed there beyond 30 reachable stars.
