Decisions, Decisions... [sad] Well, all your choices are valid. I've also been thinking about playing on Open Play... Or not...
On one hand, it's very risky and i will easily become cannon fodder, on the other hand... risk is part of the experience... Unless i keep on getting attacked multiple times on purpose just for the fun of it. If that would be the case, then i would swap to Solo or Private Group (If i join any). I dunno yet.

I think I finally decided on trying in open first, just to see what happens. Sidewinders are free, after all. I will push quickly away from the start system and find a place not too far, but not to close, to start earning some credits. I'll only switch to solo (or Mobius if it's ready) if griefers are doing the equivalent of spawn-killing and there's no other way around it. The other reason to switch to solo is if I find multiplayer to be glitching due to lag or some other connectivity issue.

CMDR Labrunning is forming a group for launch day, if you decide to join a small private group.

Can you restart accounts on the PS4? If you can, so what if you get wiped out in Open? Often a good.clean restart is healthy after a learning experience or 10.

In the main menu, there will/should be a item "Clear Save" - this will remove all data related to your commander, and you go back to selecting which starter system, etc.

Caveat: I've done this multiple times on the PC version, I'm assuming that it will be the same for the PS version.

Your CMDR save is in the cloud on Frontier's server, correct? I was going to suggest the "Delete Game Data" option all PS4 games have, but I think that's just locally saved data only.

Yeah it totally resets your commander so can be useful if u get off to a bad start.

I tend to play in my own private group so I can just invite my son or any friends that log on :) the main menu also shows you any online elite players from your friend list and also what mode they are currently playing.

One of the good things about a Cmdr reset is that you start fresh but still with all of your previous knowledge and experience.

What ever happens the first couple of day you can replace easily your sidewinder it's for free so I would not worry too much Old Duck

Also, even once you are out of the startwinder, losses of the smaller ships are still likely mostly covered by the loan you can get (that is repaid over time as a percentage of any earnings). Can't remember how much the loan covers though.

Yeah, the closer we get, the more I want to play in open. I've noticed forum cliques are becoming private groups, which is fine, but that's not how I personally want to play. Hobos play in open, where there's always someone new to meet :D

The other thing I forgot to take into account when I wrote the OP is that ED supports PS4 player blocking, so if some griefer is harassing me in a Harry Potter manner, I can just block that player.

I assumed that blocking only applied to those who bothered you on the ps4 net, not in game harrasment. But if your correct, that's a cool and useful tool to be utilized.

To be honest, I've never played with the feature, so I don't know much about it. I'm hoping since ED uses P2P networking to put people together in the same instance, it will take blocked PSN players into account...

Guys, I brought cake
Strawberry-Jam-Cake_exps92780_BAFTB2307047C04_28_8bC_RMS.jpg

Considering the size of the piece missing, gonna need more cake.

I'll bring the coffee for us yanks, and some tea (dish water) for you Europeeans, which reminds me, why are you guys always peeing, recon it's the tea.

PS, Being called a yank is not degrading, dam rednecks have been doing it for more than a hundred years. Fought a war and won it, didn't change them. So, one can concur, y'all can do it. The difference is when y'all say it, it applies to the whole country. When rednecks say it, it applies only to us North of the Mason Dixon line. Residing in Mexico, I now use it in reference to the whole country also. Even though I'm one of them. Your can take a yank out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the yank.
