PS4 - DualShock 4 Control Scheme

I'm thinking of waiting until PSVR launch TBH. I already have a third party headset which doesn't have a mic... but i don't want to upgrade then upgrade to PSVR soon after.

Headset is the one big Probelm with the PSVR. You have a mic built in the visor but no headphones! Shame to Sony for that. Mist headsets do not fit well with it ( I use a Logitec one ) They do not rest well on if worn with the PSVR and tend to fal lof when you look up.

In a vew weeks however ther will be a HeadPHONE called Mantis wich is design to clip onto the PSVR to solve the issue of having to fiddle the Headset to your head while already wearing the PSVR ( wich is for sure funny to watch for somebody standing closeby :) )

I'll be using that headset with my trusty DS4. :)

How've you found it? I read so much salt about how it would disintegrate after two minutes of use! I've not folded it (other than occasionally by accident when taking it off) and it only either lives on my head or next to my throne so it's been fine. I was tempted by the platinum one but I read that it had a buzzing sound when not plugged into the charger...

I've had it over a year and folded it loads, I think as long as you don't bend it back on itself its fine. It got a lot of hammer on Destiny, its very good quality for the price I paid. I think the thing will break if you put too much stress on it, maybe if someone has a really big head or something. The voice comms quality is great too generally, I have nothing but praise for it. Not upgraded to the platinum as I don't think its worth it.

PS4 troubleshooting

Ive been struggling with this all day;

I'm attempting to use a Ps4 controller instead of a mouse and keyboard. I use the controller for various other games (BF1, MEA, etc.) and it function properly within these. I use DS4 and ED is able to recognize my controller without issue (I can scroll through menus just fine). The problems occurs when I'm attempting to keymap or bind PS4 controls. I will map a particular controller button to a function, it will save, I will be able to use said function in the game only up to the point that I press the menu button again - at which point any saved controller commands will be deleted and replaced with []. I've tried renaming the Root function in the controller config file, I've tried importing someone else's config, nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

I think there is a bug at present with DS4 on PC and losing its binds.

(I think you might have seen it already)

2c on the stick vs pad thing: Sticks are great for flight sims, where you fly planes. But in Elite you're flying something more like a helicopter.

I believe it's more of a "Harrier Jet" (plane), then a chopper. Although in space, wings, flaps, rudders, rotar blades etc. have no purpose. Unlike conventional Atmospheric "Air"craft, A Harrier has variable thrust engines. Which allows it to perform like a chopper. In space, crafts would have to depend on various thrust engines to negotiate.
