PSA For those about to begin AX combat

Ok ...I think 2nd interceptor is bug - that one which is less attacked by NPC.
Just tried to kill it:
1. it does damage by main yellow beam I think (bcs shield down in 1s) from 3.7kms distance
2. at the same distance it blocks FSD charge.
Also it could be through-modes mix. I saw once neutralizer field which I didn't do 100% + I didn't see any cmdr there. Not sure if npc can do.
Also sound is bugged. 70% of time on-board computer does not say things, like "surge detected" - maybe that surge comes from bug-copy and voice ignores it as NPC do.

fill your mats - you can synth 150 heatsink reloads with full mats ;)

they are G1 mats too so very easy to keep topped up
Yeh, I have "menthal" problem with that :D Never use consumables in any game. Even witcher 3, skyrim, etc. Just because it ends :D I like to have all full (full of mats now :D)
So I invent the ways to do things without consumables always.

well, whatever works for ya i guess ;)

I wouldn't ever have the attention span to do 10 interceptors, let alone the skill. I'll stick to my krait and focus on scouts, cyclops, and the occasional basilisk lol

haha you build up to the bigger fights over time :) well, some of us with less common sense do i guess :D
If you are intersted in learning more AX combat techniques though you should defiantely come and say hello on the AXI Discord :)

What the AX CZs are great for is practicing different aspects of interceptor fighting that can then be taken to 1:1 instances. I have used the interceptor pairs arrival to get better at avoiding the shutdown field, as well as aiming the remote flak at the swarms. It is a bit annoying always having to scan the interceptors for subtargets when flying a turret boat, but at least it is boosting my confidence that some day, maybe when Odyssey has run its course, I will be able to finally solo an interceptor in my trusty old T-10.

:D S

The thought of going to the guardians again makes me hit that logout button...

Indeed; a friend got ED last month and I've been popping in to help her, and she's thinking about AX combat now... These videos are well made, but they illustrate just how much you have to completely respec to get involved, and I just can't face it myself either. I did much of the Guardian grind ages ago but never actually saw one because I burnt out on that alone. And I'd already done the Engineer grind for far too long fitting out a PvE Covette, and an Exploraconda which was awful enough, but it looks like it's not even the right ship to try for AX now? Blech.

yes I will admit that the barrier to entry is very steep in terms of engineering and mat grinding is always just an uncomfortable slog :(

I'm starting to wonder if there's another shoe about to drop. Some of our more intrepid Thargoid killers are racking up pretty substantial Thargoid body counts. Solo pilots massacring vast numbers of Thargoids. Either the Thargoid menace is not that much of a menace or they have yet to pull out their REALLY BIG guns!

you might be correct, although only a very few pilots can pull off the bigger kills ;)

Are there any shipyards in the Witch Head still operational? Ineed somewhere to transfer my Chieftain.

Wandering Star is all up services and will be parked in Witch head a while.

To prove a point to myself I once outfitted a Chieftain with only the engineering available from Felicity, 2 large AX MC, a flak launcher and whatever for the rest.

Didn't need mats for synth and it was fine for scout combat and solo'ing Cyclops, and thought it could be a way of getting newer players involved in AX quickly and learning the mechanics.
Appreciate it wouldn't scale up to Basilisk etc.

Edit: and your instructional videos are really clear, nice one for posting.

i think we need a axi video of "starting with no guardian modules and only G1 engineering".

1 or 2 of 4/5 interceptor types are doable with ax mc and ax missiles, right?
