PSVR Support

Wish I would have seen this first...

Been playing for a couple weeks now after seeing the game on sale and checking out YouTube vids with people raving about the VR. Well imagine my disappointment when I unboxed my brand new PSVR today, fired it up, and saw the cinema screen instead of the inside of my cockpit. Please, please, please make it PSVR compatible. I would gladly deal with some degradation on vanilla PS4 in exchange for feeling like I'm actually soaring through space.

PLEASSSSEEEE FRONTIER BRING PSVR SUPPORT TO ELITE DANGEROUS! this game was made to be played in VR, it is perfect for the VR platform[yesnod]. It will be a damn shame if they don't add it

I played Elite Dangerous in VR using my PC and my PSVR. The immersion is unbelievable. Easily the best VR game out there. But the hassle of connecting the PSVR to the PC using Trinus is a pain and I'd always get drifting. When the PS4 version came out I bought it straight away. I was so pleased thinking it would only be a short time before the PSVR patch came out. What a real shame that it's still not available. I'm the same as a lot of you. I'd be happy for a degraded version if it means getting it onto the PS4.

Been waiting for PSVR support since PS4 release. Forget all this fancy graphics, just give me Elite on PSVR that original PS4 can run with minor stuttering.
Also tried to connect PSVR to PC and play Elite, but, apparently, my PC is not powerful enough (getting freezes and lags constantly), so I beg you, just give me this sweet UHMMERSION on the system that I, among many others, already own.

Great addition

Elite dangerous for PSVR would be a dream come true. Frontier make it happen you know you want to!

If it happens, I honestly think it won't be until the PS5. I say this because I've read that new games (like the new Elder Scrolls) are being designed for the PS5 instead of the PS4. It has also been rumored that PS5 will be designed from ground-up to support PSVR, instead of it being "tacked on" like it was with PS4.

And hopefully the latest rumours are true and ps5 will come out by the end of 2019

I have mixed feelings about that. I'm afraid that not only will Frontier put off PSVR support until PS5, but they may put in a "minimal effort" to support PS4 in general knowing that a PS5 is around the bend. We'll get the updates, sure, but why optimize the graphics for "old hardware" when they can just use low settings (cough shadows cough) to hold people over until they can just throw more hardware at the problem instead of writing quality code like we see in Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead 2, Spiderman, and even the now ancient Uncharted 4...

This will affect me more than others because I've yet to buy a console when it first drops, but rather wait until the 2nd gen (usually the Slim version) is released later. This means I may be on PS4 for a few more years to come..

The problem with Elite and PS4, is that the game already sinks the unit, even with a PS4 Pro, you get frame drops near big stations.

Altering the game to support PSVR would need to downgrade the game graphics even more than it is in the actual form... I'd love to play it on PSVR but I'm not so nostalgic to want to play a Elite2-Frontier game with no textures on my PS4! :)

Hi guys.
bought recently the PS4 version.
I played on PC for quite a time, but I had to switch it to PS4.
The experience is amazing.
The PSVR would be definetly amazing as experience and I will buy it istantly just for this game!

I do disagree with the fact that they are waiting on PS5.
1- PS5 is still far away. 1/2 yar even if will be announced mid 2018.
2- PSVR will be for sure re-designed for PS5 (for sure they will put out an other system to get more money out of it). So current PSVR is not related with PS5

The PSVR at the moment is a niche market. That's the only reason I see that blocks any further development by Frontiers.

I think that they should target a DLC/expansion pack for the game to be purchased. That's the only thing that I honestly see as motivation for Frontiers to develop a PSVR support.

Personally I would buy in a second any DLC to actually run the PSVR.

Please Frontiers take my money!

Iam not sure about that, i don't have that kind of issues in my PS4 (its not a PRO), i accept that the numbers of ships close may influence that so that could be true.
We have a view mode (iam not sure whats the designation) by pressing R3 and using the motion sensors of the DS4 to move the head that i guess its close to what we could get with PSVR and that would be cool. So maybe it could be possible to play the game using PSVR hardware and take at least a sip of what would be like to play it in full VR, just this would make buy a PSVR.

The graphical difference between Skyrim VR and Skyrim SE on PS4 is huge! Skyrim VR is very immersive, and I enjoyed playing it for the short time I owned PSVR, but it always felt I was in a child's play with very fake props, not in the actual world of Skyrim. Skyrim SE, on the other hand, looks amazing (for an older game), and in some ways I find it more immersive than Skyrim VR because the resolution and LOD is so much better.

Hi Peeps,

PSVR is in desperate need of longer titles and would greatly benefit from having Elite enter the market. I personally own the game on PC but do not have PCVR as of yet, I do however have PSVR, if Elite was to get PSVR support I for one would gladly purchase a second copy to be able to experience the game in VR!

Personally I feel just a rudimentary head look in VR with the existing DualShock4 support would be sufficient enough although I would never say no to Move support either. Skyrim VR is one of my favourite games on the system currently and I have no doubt that Elite would top it since I just adore space!

Please consider us!

Thanks

Edit: Thanks so much to all the commanders coming through here, I'm sure we will be heard if nothing else! ❤

just so you know on their official site it says "MADE FOR VR" in caps just like that and yet PSVR is not a thing yet. i think that frontier is jumping out of the PSVR bandwagon

Make it please. It must be possible to find a way to get it running. Maybe make some setting like pc, where different gfx card run with different options.

+1 For PSVR

PSVR with knocked down gfx is totally fine and expected by PSVR owners.

Make it happen and I'll pay whatever it takes!

Seriously however... we are still waiting for an update to the FAQ one way or another...

It still reads:
Will Elite Dangerous support PlayStation®VR?
Elite Dangerous is a flagship VR game on PC so of course, VR is important to us. It’s definitely something we’re looking into, but we have nothing to announce for launch.

Forgive my cynicism, but Frontier can't even be bothered to make the game work properly on the PS4 Slim on a 2D screen, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a PSVR version.... :(

This^^.
Playing more than 30 minutes without a freeze or getting kicked out would be champion.
PSVR? Sure, but it's not looking good.

FWIW, on a PS4Pro it works fine. Don't have any problems. Although to be fair I'm also not particularly frame rate sensitive.
