Pulse Wave scanner issues after update 12

I can confirm some sort of weird behaviour. Near the drop off point everything looked ok. But when i moved some distance from the drop off i started to notice fakes

In the first ss we have 2 fakes (the left one looks quite bright, like a possible core, the right one not so much).
I prospected both, they had nothing (no surface, no subsurface, no core)

Now closer, things start to look like a reflection

Even closer, prospected, nothing. Weird that my first 2 prospectors (one fired from afar, the second really close) went right through it.
Then next 2 prospectors stuck

I've had prospectors phase through asteroids too.

Yes, there are fake glowing too.

Guys, I figured out a workaround, tested twice in a same ring and worked twice:

1, go to the ring, the PWA will show you fake glowing and only the core glows.

2, log off, close the game, start the game (launcher is okay), log in again

3, you are in the same ring, and the PWA is working as before Update 12. Unfortunately, the last chunk missing and the deposits stays active with 0% hull.

Can you confirm it? :)

Nope, cannot confirm, still bugged. And it's one nasty bug

I didnt relog
After the earlier test i logged off in the ring.
Then later on i logged back in the ring and everything looked nice - lots of lit asteroids and all of them had surface or subsurface deposits

But i moved away from the drop in point and no more good asteroids. Whatever yellow asteroids the PWA revealed, they were only fakes.
So i guess if we move like 30-50 km (maybe more, i didnt had a reference point) from the drop off, there are no more surface/subsurface asteroids, only fakes

Edit:
To conclude - after moving away from the drop off point in the ring (no idea, but i'd estimate at least 30-50km), the PWA will reveal only the cores, no more surface or subsurface asteroids

That's a really nasty bug

Yes. I exactly observed the same today. First thought was the issue has been somehow fixed...but then...nooooooo

Yes, it is still a nasty bug, but it is a workaround, and it is a good workaround to mine for me, I'm currently happy with it, because I need fuel to my FC.

I played around the issue, 20-22 km is usually the limit of the PWA bug from the drop off point, but the log out and log in again process does the magic, no necessary restart the whole game.

Ok, one more thing.
I prospected some asteroids around one that had the yellow reflections - and luckily i managed to find the source - it was an asteroid that had a surface deposit, but the PWA was not highlight it.

So, obviously, the surface and subsurface asteroids are still there, but the PWA does not highlight them.
Reflections can be used to spot them, but it's literally a hit and miss thing 😂

Have seen this myself. PWS highlights, which were always too inconsistent for my tastes, seem to have become even more haphazard. The lighting effect is applied erratically, it clips in and out, and it can disappear as you near asteroids.

I already confirmed in the issue tracker. Everything mentioned here is correct, but it is even worse. If you find accidently some subsurface deposits, or find a core asteroid that has also subsurface deposits...

1. The deposit does not vanish when reached 0%. You can still target it and it is in the contact menue.

2. The last rocket before reaching 0% does not generate any chunks. You see the explosion but no chunks are released and consequently nothing there to scoop.

3. Subsurface deposits on asteroids that have no core (can only be found randomly atm) do not show up on the HUD as blue icon. Only in the contact menue you see that the asteroid has subsurface deposits, or by swipping over the asteroid and recognizing there is something to select as target.

Can confirm first two when I was mining recently. Don't remember well enough about the third but I think I noticed it also.

Great post...yes, this is exactly what I'm experiencing.

You mentioned that moving away from the drop in point may be a cause or a trigger for this bug. Could it be a time and degradation bug? i.e. it starts fine and then over time the bug gets progressively worse. That has been known to happen in ED though I'm struggling to remember the specific bug...there have been so many.

Also I'd love to upvote the ticket but I think I mentioned, the issue tracker won't let me 😐

I think the issue manifests beyond what would be a normal instance radius, something like 20-25km.
I didnt noticed a degradation, just a cut.
