PvP (Open) commanders not welcome on this forum?...

Soooo. I wouldn't say they are unwelcome but certain PvP'ers have jaded a large portion of the community here against PvP. In a lot of cases this isn't even because they like PvP, it's because of their attitude.

This^

Plus I think a lot of us are tired of seeing the same threads over and over and over... especially when they seem to progress little beyond "BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW"

Thing is you don't see PVP'ers making threads about PVE'ers harming the game do you?
We need 2 BSGs. It's not fair solo groups can influence etc. Open is empty, all cowards hiding in solo.

You do see a lot of crying from players
Working hard earning that respect I see.

but when someone in the PVP community make a thread like this one, oh M gee! here we go the 200 pages.
Of which many replies state: of course PvPers are welcome.

Some of us solely fly in open and don't do much PVP, what bothers us and drives the community into the private groups and solo is not the pirates but the griefers

You can't blame the PVP community because you are bad at the game or because you are ignorant of the consequences of open play. Blame Frontier and their screwed design if you are looking for someone to blame.

I still find it hilarious that there's no disclaimer or warning when you click on open. We've been asking for it for nearly 2 years now.

While I may agree with you that this kind of behaviour might come as a shocker for some players, (myself included when I first started playing this game) but you can't just blame it on PVP'ers who are simply playing the game the way it was designed.

You know some people don't want to roleplay and type in plain text, they just want to blow up internet pixel spaceships.

I am not blaming the community, the topic of this thread is essentially that 'the PvP community isn't welcome here' and many, many replies have stated that the PvP community is very welcome, but jerks are not, whether they be PvP or PvE or both is irrelevant.

If you just want to destroy other Cmdrs very little will stop you, but an awful lot of those players have now left open. You need there to be players in order for you to be able to blow them up. I don't need you, my gameplay does not require you to be in open. Your gameplay requires me to be in open, but you offer no incentive for me to do so, you just complain.

Don't aspire to be a thug, aspire to be a Pirate Lord. Split from your group, create a new group & take over the old group. Have a drug war. Have fun with people you know will be a challenge, and will be up to the challenge.

Sole Hunter, we have discussed this kind of thing in the past & I am probably more accepting of your stance on the matters than most, but the way you and some other manage to be simultaneously really good at a thing and turn that into a bad thing somehow defies logic.

I am your target, I PvE in open, always prepared for a challenging aggressor such as yourself, a lot of what I enjoy about playing in open is keeping up to speed on where the hotspots are & simply avoiding them. We have never met in-game (to my knowledge) and if we ever do, I hope you will enjoy the challenge I provide (I will run).

I rarely use help guides, I like to work things out for myself. Many players do, it's that kind of game where quite a lot of the challenge is in solving the puzzle yourself.

The vid you mention has received many positive comments on this forum, an experienced player passing on tips to the less experienced.

But surely you appreciate therefore that because you are among the better players in your area of speciality you must also see that others are not so good at what you do. They may be good at other things that you are not interested in.

When you interdict some poor sap in an obviously sub-optimal loadout do you temper your fire? Do you toy with them to let them think they have a chance? Or do you simply hammer them with maximum effort?

You don't have to just make vids & tell people 'learn or die', you can help them become better content for you live, in the game.

set up a protection racket & be the mafia. If you really are roleplaying the Pirate you are the cream of the crop, act that way & manage the overfishing.

I understand where you are coming from but just because you are unwilling to become "better" by going outside of the game and learning about it doesn't make it right to blame it on those who took the time to get better and just play the game. It's no different from explorers using third-party tools to improve their experience, maybe we should blame frontier for not having those in the game?

Well, we are bad guys after all. I am definitely a villain in character of course. I would be lying by saying some of us don't have an agenda. Some of my posts are aimed to provoke, some are more serious like the last one.

The rest is really up to you to be honest.

The sooner the PVP crowd gives up on the game and moves on the better.
Maybe we'll finally get some single player content then.

The sooner the PVE crowd accept that the PVP crowd is here to stay and PVP will always be part of the game and moves on the better. Oh wait, that already happened, you moved to solo, hehehe!

What!?! I think you have quite the selective memory sir and there is enough nonsense from both sides that I could fill a T9.

PvP'ers: You have Open. Play there, fight there, blow each other up. I don't care. Do what you want...it's Open. But don't come on here and whine you that you don't have enough "emergent content", i.e. Player targets, to justify all that Engineering time and money you put into your Death Ship. And other Engineered Death Ships are not as much fun to fight? Apparently most people don't want to play with you. You made it you fix it. It's not FD's problem what Open has turned into - it's Open.

PvE'er: You have Solo and PG. If you don't desire unwanted contact from another Cmdr then stay there. If you play in Open your shiny and beloved T7 may have an encounter with an Engineered FdL. What did you think might happen? A cheery hug? The Engineered FdL is made for one thing. Look at every other online game with an "Open" mode. Stop complaining and moaning. You have modes for your play style - use them. Don't play in Open then come here and say you were "ganked"...it sounds dumb.

Why is this all so difficult for folks here? Or do people just like to post and moan?
There are 3 modes (hopefully a 4th) for every play style. Shut up and play.

More like, "it's not what you say, but the way you go about saying it" is how you go about getting infractions. If your post content is snide, disrespectful, rude, harassing, etc, you're going to get the wrath of the moderation team - no matter if you're a PVP'er or PVE'er or even a RP'er. There are moderators on these forums that PVP, and PVE - contrary to popular statements posted out there!

sorry if i don't believe you Brett, but i had a case here that a fellow forum user said explicit THIS WORDS:"Frak you" to me and no one on the mod team seemed to care, i had to get one of those in the discord sent him the post and even so the post was merely deleted and no action was taken against the user even though the only reason he posted that was because i posted a video that he didn't liked...

Oh and BTW i have the picture here for proof.

So sorry if I don't believe that there are no bias on the forum...
But you guys can always get better lets hope you do...

You got me there, lol...

Actually, we do. Sorry to contradict ye when yer already feeling picked on but on this point you claim, Ive seen a literal plethora of threads from pvp players who claim solo play has all but destroyed the game. Specifically, pve players who have had the finger pointed at them and accused directly, insulted with innuendo and snappy catch phrases on the forums, while ingame, the salt mining has been a real eye opener. Then the surprise to the reactions to the salt that pvprs created in the first place...priceless.

And heres the thing...you demand respect yet offer none in return...then accuse everyone else of causing the issue? I have not seen 52 pages of salt mining as you suggested a while ago, and I have read every single comment. There are a few insults granted, but its working both ways. Perhaps a little more civil debate, and a little less of the egotistical nonsense...from both sides. This is called mutual respect as one way respect simply aint gonna happen, and it really doesnt matter a squat who ye are or what ye did...how ye project yerself in communication will earn respect a lot faster than being killed fer no reason while not a word spoken will earn nothing but scorn. Thats the thing about respect...works both ways. Inconvenient I know, but one deals with it the best one can.

So a little less of the martyr complex...if yer being picked on fer things said, then learn not to dish it out if ye cant take it back. Complaining about it afterwards just makes ye look immature and self centrered.

Sure, they're not as good.

That doesn't mean that they can't get better, or that we should bring the game down to their level and thereby shut out everyone who prefers a game with a higher skill ceiling.

Leave them room to grow. They can either choose to grow, and learn to enjoy the game even more than they were previously because new options are open to them giving them a wider variety of gameplay choices, or they can get frustrated and quit.

The people who grow help the community grow, and they contribute positively to the game and community as a whole, just like you're doing now.

Trying to be all-inclusive leads to being wholly exclusive. Being selectively exclusive leads to mutual understanding and interest between the parties that are included.

It all gets back to You're Not Special.

None of us deserve to be catered to above others. Get in where you fit in.

I was infracted for posting a funny Yoda picture. It caused a week long ban.

So the mods are claerly biased against Dutch explorers.

Many people complain, I do not complain (about this). Banter & insipid backchat comes from both sides. Some people are easy to offend, even if you didn't intend it. It's much easier to make an enemy than to make a friend. Yada yada blah blah blah.

You are bad guys. You are THE bad guys at the moment, and you are bored.

You are bored because you lack 'worthy' opponents, or you think you do. So fight each other. Don't be a bit part in another Cmdr's group, start your own group & take those other budding baddies under your wing, do it better than your opponents.

If you do this instead of creating a lot of frustration for your own group & the community at large, maybe you will inspire others to join you, or simply to cheer for you over that other guy that they really hate. Your enemy's enemy is your friend :)

This is all going a bit WWE so I'll stop here. Honestly though, you can be so much more.

Make sense but :

I just play the game the way it is... if there's no incentive for you to be in open, just move on to solo like you said but don't make it your personnal vendetta to trash talk PVP'ers on these forums or make threads and cry about it because you don't like the PVP crowd.

It's attitude like these :

The sooner the PVP crowd gives up on the game and moves on the better.
Maybe we'll finally get some single player content then.

That kills the game, not the PVP'ers.

It's what OP is discussing, couldn't have a quoted a better example.

Since when is Dr Danny the official forum representative?

I didn't vote for him.

I didn't say he was.

"Forums aren't the place for pvp. Posters only cry about it, mods don't like it. Everyone who would be interested is on reddit or on the discord servers we posted to."

And Danny's post quite clearly falls into the above description.

Yes, but one Danny does not a forum make.
