PvP (Open) commanders not welcome on this forum?...

Yeah, it's like real life judges. You expect them to interpret the law, as previous precedence has developed.

Except they do interpret it for personal agenda, even unconsciously. It's the whole reason why balance is needed in the Supreme Court.

We don't want balance here, we want effective application of the Forum Rules. Nothing more.

You can't have one without the other, and like I said, there's a reason why people panic when the Supreme Court doesn't have roughly a balance between the Rep and the Dem.

I can smell the PVE carebearness in the post he made through my computer screen. It's like the smell of a pair of old sweaty socks after a week hiking in a swamp.

You want to see the extreme side of PVP, you give moderator powers, I guarantee you the forum ban list would increase 25x in the first 24 hours of my inauguration lol.

Do you see? I post a reasonable response, and someone feels the need to insult another poster. Why wouldn't you expect others to respond in kind? I think this fellow proves my point.

@Fang I didn't necessarily oppose your becoming an Mod. I oppose the idea that we need agenda driven Mods put in place to extend the divide we have. We need only impartiality from a Mod, not an agenda.

Then let's have a PvP only forum and you can be the moderator!
Problem solved.
But ultimately you guys don't want that do you?

EDIT: Whew moving fast. Meant for GF

I would prefer it if you could replace a member of the current team... ;)

Oh right so it's okay for you to call us griefers and call PVP'ers impartial because we solely focus on the PVP aspect of the game which I doubt you remember but PVP'ers are also Elite Dangerous players?

How is that any different from a moderator playing in solo? I could name a few of them who have stated they have no interest in playing in open or participating in PVP.

Please, read your post, you're insulting.

Who're we voting off the island?

Erhm ermhm well you know that one guy.

Impartiality makes a balance between Mods bias' moot. The balance then shifts to the rules themselves. Any Mod giving way to a point of view, and allowing rules to be broken would make the system corrupt. Special exceptions to rules based on in-game experience is not moderating.

The politicization of the Supreme Court is a perfect example. People don't respect certain rulings because of calls of bias, and political agendas. That's why confirmation hearing often revolve around how nominees view certain issues. The idea for SP Judges to have life long appointments is to free them from politics, and let them judge cases on the facts and the law, not some social construct.

I would respectfully say, you have no idea what moderation was given to the offender. FD won't tell you, and likely the other poster won't either.

We need impartial, not partisan. Putting a person with an obvious agenda into a position like that would be useless. They would still be required to be impartial. Ideas and opinions can't be removed, just infractions to the Forum rules. You don;t need a spirit guide, you just want to see FD make a concession to the new PvP Martyrs.

Make case that the current Mod(s) are not impartial, and have FD do something about it. Shoe Horn-ing in an advocate, just to make a crowd happy, is would be a sham.

On an aside, I would have no trouble with 'Fang as a Mod. I believe he would do the job in the spirit it is intended. But, expecting there to be a PvP Big Brother there to save you from opposing ideas is wrongheaded.

"But, expecting there to be a PvP Big Brother there to save you from opposing ideas is wrongheaded."

So opposing ideas is flipping people off? Because this was only moderated 5 days later , and only with extensive calling about it. Sorry , but you out of context here... you're putiong words into my mouth , you're saying that someone is going to mod with an agenda. you look rather defensive against the idea , i'm curious on the why....

I know we have heated debates, but recent events sadden me.

I recently visited a PvP discord. I learned that they were hosting a PvP event. I asked why they weren't posting it here on the official forum, and the reply was:

"Forums aren't the place for pvp. Posters only cry about it, mods don't like it. Everyone who would be interested is on reddit or on the discord servers we posted to."

The one I spoke with didn't care to elaborate, so I'll just leave the comment here. But I'm genuinely surprised that the official forum isn't considered the goto platform for all who play Elite: Dangerous.

Maybe I'm just unaware of the importance of reddit and discord. Or that this forum was considered toxic by PvPers. I asked if it would be frowned upon if I shared the event here, and got no reply. Consent through silence I guess. So here's a link. It sounds like fun:

See you in the black commanders. :)

(talk about a divided community... :()
toxic? Have you spoke to a mobius player? If you want toxicity speak to them regarding Pvp!

I don't name call PvP'ers. I have many many in-game friends that play exactly as you describe. You are pointing that finger at the wrong poster. I am a member of Adle's Armada. I have done some time patrolling Eravate and learning the Wing tactics employed by the group. I join in for PvP combat when I'm around and there is a need. Which isn't often lately. You are simply barking up the wrong tree here.

If you don;t feel the Mod(s) do their jobs, bring it up with FD. But, the notion that a Mod with an Agenda will solve anything is nothing but mistake. We don't need a balance of biased Mods, we need a group of impartial Mods to enforce the rules, regardless of the topic. I am convinced we have that.

Uhm... I am a Mobius player. Among other things. :) I can assure you that Mobius group has extremes too.

But this thread was started with the hope of finding some common ground here in the official forum for ALL the Elite: Dangerous community. Call me naive (I know I'm asking for it), but I think quite a few of the posters here are supporting that notion from both (and all) sides of the pond.

I don't recall him blanket labelling PvPers as griefers, I think you might be mistaking him for another poster. And you did throw out the unnecessary care ursine comment without any real provocation. "Respect is earned" and all that.
