PvP (Open) commanders not welcome on this forum?...

no PvP player worth their salt :) would kill n00bwinders. that's just a disgrace. their is one individual that I know off who does that cowardly act, usually HE/she combat logs when to AA try to deal with HIM/her. sorry your buddy had ED spoiled by one cheater and yes that is ganking.

God dammit this annoys me, if I'm gonna space someone I usually give an RP reason like "your in Alliance space intruder!" so theirs some context for the incoming rebuy and never pick on someone in a cheaper/smaller ship then an AspX or Vulture.

irrelevant. PvP means Player versus Player. As such ANYONE who engages in that type of interaction is a PvPer. By definition, this includes griefers, gankers, player killers, and noob hunters.

Agony, i am just writting how it looks. This is not a secret there are tiers of players on gamedev market/scene, and i am just describing how it looks from my point of view what FD is doing.
Talking with PvP'ers will not show you what playing in Open until you will play in open at least few hundreds of hours. Its like licking a candy behind a glass. Or having 15GB of jpg's instead of real girls.

I am sure a pvpers and pvp groups, including me, can bring you to the openplay and direct pvp interactions, if only You like. We are Open ;)

I'm not talking about taking part in PvP, its not something that tickles me. I'm talking about having open and friendly discourse with them without resorting to insults, which is why, once again, it might be rather nice of you to apologize for your comment about crap tier players. I mean, if you wonder why PvP players are not welcome, then you've proven to be a shining example of why that might be.

I'm not saying all PvEers are golden examples. They are not, and i do feel at times we have been overly generous with our treatment of certain individuals while being too harsh with others. But if you want PvPers to be welcome, then at least be a shining example for your side, and make the PvEers look bad in comparison.

So, once again, retreaction for the crap tier comment or not?

Or do i just leave your file in the "salty PvPer" box?

I will say with a little bit of generalization, between my Xbone profile and PC profile (around 180 hrs total) I have come in contact with 2 true "PvPers" and the rest were just griefers.

One was a pirate; he interdicted me, asked politely for half my cargo or he would forcibly take it; I jettisoned it, he took it and we both went our separate ways...

THAT is true PvP

The second one was a powerplay guy, now this is a grey area in general. I was coming back from a conflict zone with 500K in bounties in imperial space but aligned with a different imperial faction than him, he interdicted me I told him I wasn't trying to expand only helping clean up his system and that I had 500K in bounties, he said "sorry shouldn't play powerplay then" and proceeded to decimate me. Unfortunately, I could argue that this both is and isn't true PvP.

Long story short, this will always be a debate, wing up and hope for the best in open play (A.K.A. I'm currently running a no hardpoint ship for colonia expansion, that's a dangerous way to roll in open play...)

Then you are blind and biased.
You gain nothing with PVP here, nothing but self satisfaction. But if you PVE you progress in many ways and you gain ranks, money, permits. You have missions that support the whole PVE framework. For PVP? Nothing. No missions, no rewards based system, no PVP channels (Private is another thing, and you know it), no proper grouping or guilds, no ranking system for PVP players; you gain nothing at all. You cant justify people going around shooting others that do not want that just because "is the premise". And if it is actually the premise then FD is even more guilty, and the lack of transparency on the subject is even higher. But ey, sure, you like to submit everyone to your selfish satisfaction and shooting them without even asking them, the game allows it. But I do not have to like it, and I do not have to be nice about it.

This is such a prime example of a clueless PVE only player trying to claim PvP in this game is meaningless, you clearly have no idea about what PvP'ers do in this game other than ganking. You of course don't mention anything about the ''good'' side of PvP such as player group wars, wing fights, pushing your skill to the limit in duels and proper exciting interactions during piracy for example.

It's the players like you who are blind, you see gankers and nothing else. And many of your points are just straight up invalid, you can make money with PvP, ever heard of bounty hunting? Or piracy? I'm getting millions from this CG exclusively from pirating. Ranks? Blow up a dangerous player and you get the exact same progress as you would an NPC.

Please learn something about PvP before you try to make it seem meaningless again.

In my mind PvP CMDRs are most welcome to the forum. Not into PvP myself, but enjoy reading about loadouts, tactics and the occasional videos. Popcorn threads are also fun, but could do without the name calling and belittlements.

Not a fan of non-consensual PvP destruction encounters, but that is a choice a CMDR makes when entering Open. Don't think a CMDR should complain about getting destroyed in Open regardless of any legitimate method used to remotely invoke the Rebuy screen for set CMDR.

Then you are blind

yes I am quite blind, I have very poor eyesight

You gain nothing with PVP here, nothing but self satisfaction

that's all im after.

Private is another thing, and you know it

to be honest I don't know it, I don't go on private groups.

like to submit everyone to your selfish satisfaction and shooting them without even asking them

why do I need to ask them? NPC's don't so why should I. that whole non-consensual PvP argument is so naïve. and stopping me play the way I want and blazing my own trail you are submitting me to your style of play.

But I do not have to like it, and I do not have to be nice about it.

I think I've been very civil in this whole mudslinging contest and I want to try and bridge the casm between the PvP & PvE groups. this is a place for adults to talk about why PvP has been so shunned on the official forums and what can be done to resolve it. then you come along with this childish attitude only widening the gap even more.

Dude, people cry about how hard NPC AI is here. They cry about how hard trading is. They cry about how hard it is to travel from one end of the bubble to the other. They cry that they aren't running the Federation Navy after 2 sessions of grinding rep. They cry that paying the game 18MCr to transport their 300MCr warship across the bubble is too expensive and takes too long.

PVP? Real competition and risk? You're in the wrong neighborhood friend. And it's a damn shame.

and they cry about other people crying just like the hypocrites that they are. There is no competition in this game there is no risk in this game and there certainly is no PVP in open.

At best there are arranged events like the OP mentioned and CQC. The rest would rely on complete game, ship, and weapon balance. This game has none of this nor will it ever have total balance.

A significant number of PvP players have had enough of the cry baby, scream to Frontier brigade and the forum mods (the latter sometimes having a little too much ego with authority they are granted) and are moving en masse to Star Citizen. The OP is right that this forum is no longer as welcoming as it once was. For me personally I blame the mods first (as there will always be infantile cry babies amongst the readership) who have contributed towards making this forum unwelcome to PvP players.

and a significant number of the PvE players have had enough of the seal clubbers and psychopaths of the PvP community. The only difference is that many of these players have found a way to continue playing ED and have fun while doing so. I have no issue with PvP players who respect other people's desires and choices. I do take issue with the PvP players who insist on everyone else becoming a part of their "content." I do take issue with the PvP players who claim that open belongs to them. Plenty of over-inflated ego there.

For PvE players, Open mode isn't as welcoming as it once was. I am tired of the PvP players trying to play the victim here in the forums.

This is an open forum, which includes the possibility of non consensual disagreement from others. Git gud or leave.

See what I did there? The EXACT same thing that PvP players do to everyone else in open mode in the game.

Just to give you a nuance, i remember PVP players were the cry baby at some point because people CL on them. I'm not against PVPers but please don't assume all PVEers are all the same

Haha seriously, someone should hand this Cmdr his Darwin Award [big grin]

Whoa, that's some fast new avatar :)

Rep for attitude.
Pretty much this :)

The OP makes a good point. I too cannot see why some people would not feel welcome after expressing similar sentiments. It's a real puzzle. You visit a community, talk trash about them, and then they start talking trash back! Whatever the hell is wrong with this community?

A phrase about glass houses and rocks comes to mind too.

So which is which?

Who is the chicken, and who is the egg?

Answer: No one remembers because they've been jabbing at each other for so long they're just doing it out of habit. In their mind, the other guy always started it first.

You must spread some reputation around before giving it to Ziggy Stardust again.

Damn. Sorry.

"He started it" belongs in kindergarten.

The idea is to criticize an individual for being a jackbottom, not go with the self identification of "I speak for PvPers/PvEers", and honour that by responding as if you're responding to either group as a whole.
