hull 1122, max range 24 LY (poor level 5 spin ), shields 496 MJ in combat the shields are much tougher than the figures suggest and the recharge is about 12% faster than stock bi-weave."

I've recently added an efficient weapon mod (+ thermal shock) to the underside gimballed pulse and this does a nice job of ripping up NPC targets.
1122 hull mass without cargo? and jump range is 24LY?

Yeah that's 1122 armour on a lightweight bulkhead stock hull, heavy duty armour mod + HRP's, I've got Palin rank up to level 5 so I'll be heading off for a thruster boost although the level 3 is pretty good

i've got ~800t hull mass and 24Ly max jump with 49% optimal mass FSD upgrade.

Nice. All I meant though was that he wasn't stating his hull mass, but rather his armor value. I could be wrong. In other news, my level ones, twos and threes upgraded Python (going from memory as work has me away from game for a few days) is close to 2K armor and plating with the armor and hull upgrades and gets a modest 18 ly jump. With the overcharged powerplant and efficient shields I'm only using 88% of my available power.

Now that I've collected heaps of mats from wreckages, im thinking of removing the limpets and either going with more armor or a SCB or something. Won't be playing for a few more days to I have time to think about it. Also, I'm only 50 tonnes or so away from gaining access to the armor specialised engineer so if I stay in my Python a little longer I already have mats for level 4 upgrades there. Decisions, decisions.
EDIT: Well, I'd need to switch over to my CM4 miner but I only need a small amount of space for those upgrades.

Man, Engineers really does transform a ship. I'm diggin' it despite cargo irritations. This baby is just so much tougher than it used to be:

I think I've come up with a configuration that I like. The bottom size three slot where I put the dss is the crux of it's versatility. Near everything else is upgraded that can be (or at least is where I want it to be) but that slot will alter it's role completely depending on what I put there.

What mod did you upgrade??

What mod did you upgrade??

From memory it's something like this:
Weapons:
One of the beams hits harder when it gets hot and the other has thermal shock. Both are lightweight level 1 or 2.
The burst turrets have nothing special but they are level 2 short range bursts
The fixed frag is double shot (no special effect) level 3
Both Added armor plates are level one boosted (heavier but more plating with added resistance across the board)
The shields are "efficient" level 3 slight reduction in overal size for added resistance and lower power draw and heat or something.
The shield boosters are both heavy level twos
The powerplant is boosted total level 1
The thrusters are clean drive level 2
The fsd is level 1 range
The distributor is boosted recharge

That's about all I can recall

jump range is around 18 ly and boost speed is 370 or so.

Once I get the bigger ships, there's 2 ships I'm buying back. The AspX, and the Python. This ship is a riot, and I don't even have it fully A rated.

I added level 2 engineer upgrades for FSD, boosters, powerplant and weapons to my A-rated Python, then stuck on a collector limpet controller and headed out to Jaques. Currently in top 10% of the mining CG.
I love this ship. :)
My one caveat: If ED was real life, I'd fly a Cobra Mk III, purely for survivability.

I just broke the piggy bank yesterday and bought my Python and fitted it for mining. Had to sell the Dropship, and a couple of parts on my FDL (powerplant from A to B, C4plasma to C4multicanon) but that was worth it. I feel like I've achieved something. I'm gonna take some high paying, low risk missions like skimmer hunting ones with my trusty sidewinder for a couple of days :p

Python love.

Getting close to finishing the Python. This is the only ship I use. My Corvette is flying but not optimized, that one will take a lot of CR and time and won't leave my home system for now.

My Python is on the heavy side as I use it for combat as well, I retired and sold my a-class FAS, it just wasn't versatile.

I'm running the following:
3 SB's, level 5, 1 resist augment, 2 HD
MILSPEC comp armor, level 5, HD
7A PW level 1, overcharged
6A thrusters, level 2, dirty drive
5A FSD, level 5, long range
7A PD, level 4, charge enhance
6A SG, level 5, reinforced shield

3 2F MC's, various levels, 2 incendiary, 1 corrosive
1 3C MC. level 5, HICAP mag
1 3C Laser G, thermal vent

Normally carry up to 208t and have some open slots for mission-required items.

My range is 17+ly fully loaded, max is 22+ly, probably could do more if I lightened but I do a lot of bounty hunting (CR for Corvette). Normal is about 20+ly. Boost is 365 or down to 335 fully loaded.

At close range, within 1000m, this armament configuration is devastating on small ships and most mid sized ships rated less than dangerous. Large ships and dangerous and elite class require more care, right situations and full shields before you engage.

IMHO, since the Engineers dropped the Python is king.

I'm just back from Palin (again!) modded a 6C thruster with level 5 DDT, typically a 6A will add around 7% to these figures.

Thruster 6C – dirty drive tuning level 5 :– 316 – 412 m/s @ 4 pips

Also upgraded the heavy duty armour and HRP's to level 5, mil composites will add another 442 hull but for 50 mil?

Hull – Lightweight Alloy Bulkheads – modified level 5 heavy duty armour:- 600.2
Hull Reinforcement Package 1 – 4D modified level 5:- 428
Hull Reinforcement Package 2 – 3D modified level 3:- 281

I upgraded mine as follows:
- A6 thrusters with lvl 3 ddt (400+ boost speed)
- A6 power plant with lvl 1 overcharged (28MW with better heat efficiency than stock :))
- A5 FSD with lvl4 increased range (25ly jump on current all round build)
- Two A SB upgraded with lvl 1 resistance (7+ across all 3 types)
- Two large MC upgraded with lvl 1 increased ammo and corrosive shells effect
- Large beem laser upgraded to lvl 1 short range blaster (more damage for less PD draw
- Medium beam laser upgraded in same way as large

Still planning to do a termal upgrade to C6 bi-wave shields (lvl 3+) and higher levels of resistance on shield boosters.

This ship is already a dream but I will probably give it a lvl 5 ddt upgrade to thrusters as last upgrade unless pallin unlocking will make me ill in process...

150+ cargo, 4B shield cell banks, 4B refinery, 3A collector limpets and advanced discovery scanner.... With all of mentioned upgrades it is true multi-role ship, quite capable to defend itself.

A very happy owner here.

Yeah, I've only had "Monty, of course" for just over a week but I'm enjoying her immensely. Right now she's back in 'armoured transport' role, grinding the loops until I can't stand it anymore - by which time I'll have enuff credz to do some upgrading, then go off for some pew-pew fun.

She's no stocker, already being worth ~ 102 million :- http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/07...6i-.AwRj4yoo.AwiMIyugmYg=?bn=Monty, of course

But this is the loadout I'm aiming for - which will boost her value to over 296 million :- http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/37...6g--.AwRj4yoo.AwiMIyq1yA==?bn=Monty, Complete

As I play exclusively PvE (Mobius) I see no need for over-stacking SCBs & HRPs ;)

But what does she look like?

Well, I did shell out for a paint job. Thought I'd go for the one that says 'Don't risk it, sonny' the loudest ;)

On the anniversary of this post, maybe a few words are justified.

'Monty, of Course' is still my number one steed. I've tried others, but they just don't do it for me. No sir, I'm a 'thon man for life now.

She has a few more paintjobs to chose from now, depending on what I'm doing, but the basics are the same.

I've started engineering her, more so since the last point upgrade, but I'm not doing either the 'blue-bottomed fly' thing or the 'hoarder' thing.

- One engineer at a time, one engineer after another is my way.

Felicity was good to her, jump range is ~23ly & boost speed is over 400. I'm working with Tod now to 'sharpen her teeth', currently L3 w/autoload & L4 gMCs & about 3/4 of the way through gaining the mats needed for TEN rolls each on L5 & 4 @ L4, which I feel should give me an even shot at getting the experimentals I want (No, I'm not saying what) including the re-repping after trading what I roll for what I want.

Obviously, I'm no longer a Mobian, I became a proud member of Ghost Legion late last year in order to be free to defend myself from gankers, and to 'test my mettle' in their PVP combat ladder.

I'm hoping that the next trenche of 'go-faster' ship kits includes the 'thon.

FD, PLEASE. Pretty Please with golden baubles.

Long Live the Mighty Python!

With Engineers, the Python becomes ridiculous. As I slowly upgrade mine, I'm beginning to avoid using it because it can outperform a lot of my other dedicated task ships and it's not even fully engineered. Once some more of the weapons gain effects and other upgrades start inching up to level five, it will just be stupid. When I get interdicted now, it's back to the old mindset that (with very few exceptions) unless it's a hollow box, I can kill it (and mine is primarily set for hauling).

I posted the thread linked below about a week ago and the replies as you can read state that the cooling vents are open, so I thought okay, not a problem but in the last week I have noticed that they never close anymore. So I thought I would ask here if all you other Python owners are experiencing this as well or have my vents somehow got damaged and are stuck open until I return to civilization in a month or two?. As a test, when I stopped playing yesterday I left my Python on the moon/planet I had just scanned as normal. The first thing I did today approx 20hours later was open the cam and take a screenshot thinking that the engine has been stopped now for nearly a day therefore the cooling vents should be closed but no, they are still open. As I said in my original thread I hit a high G planet pretty hard a couple of months back which knocked me down to 90% but this thing with the open vents happened long after that and if they are damaged I have no idea how it happened. Have any other of you Python owners had this happen?. The screenshot below is from today when I started ED Horizons.

Well I can tell you that the vents on my combat Python is closed and I have rammed NPC'S while bounty hunting if they chaff to much .so as far as hitting something hard and damaging the vents to where they want close Lord knows that should be a problem I'm having as well then . I do have an awful lot of hull reinforcements though. Sounds like some sort of strange glitch to me . Just yesterday I saw two wanted Asp Explorers flying in formation with the security force here in Lou Pardon system. I'm talking two Anacondas three eagle's an two Viper Mk 3 . Those two wanted Asp Explorers stayed with that security force for just a little over an hour then jumped out . I never shot at them because I figured if their going to pretend to be good guys I'll play along as well. And those two were the first to show up and help me out in a fight with a Fer De Lance elite things could have gone very differently had those two strange acting Asp's had not shown up when they did.

Anyway strange things happen in this game sometimes good ones.

I now believe it to be some sort of bug. I have been far outside the bubble exploring/prospecting for around 3mths now and two days ago got to around 200ly from my home base destination. I responded to an "unknown signal" prompt and picked up and then dumped everything other than some Emission Data, a couple of systems later I get interdicted by an NPC whose been "somehow" searching for my big haul, make of that what you will after three months in the blackest black!!!?. Anyway when he brought me out of Supercruise I did hear a sort of bang, and after evading him I carried on exploring but noticed when I landed shortly after that on a planet that magically the vents were now closed for the first time in weeks.
