Quality of Life Improvement: Input LAT/LON Co-ords and have a Surface Waypoint appear, similar to the surface scan mission Waypoint.

So I'd read that this new update has come out, I downloaded it to check on the planetary navigation input that we have suggested.
When I booted up the nearby planet map I noticed none such update has been implemented. Seems like Frontier doesn't listen to the community after all. Shame on you Frontier, shame on you.

QoL changes coming AFTER 2.4 (don't know why you expected them sooner)

I hope this too. We are locked out from one of the most interesting missions e.g. Prof. Palin Thargoid mission. I am very disappointed that after all these mails no one of FD gives an answer to that (since years). we are so much people who face the same problem.
Shame on you FD.

150% agree lon-Lat system is quite hideously terrible and so 1800s style and as we all know with Elite TIME consuming, the year is meant to be 3300 so where the super tech!! ok it's not star trek with triquarters and transporters, but come on let us scan planet surfaces lets see whats really down there my guess is not a lot. I do feel sometimes that frontier created a fabulous massive universe, however, has not exactly gone out of there way to fill it up with stuff, for example:

USS how many times do we see lots of cargo canisters like the old days !! these days it material bits like all the time!! bring the cargo back its worth more and no not tea either!! Doh
POI my god who still plays looking for poi on planets those big blue sponges that are A hard to find I the first place and after ages of looking you either give up or if you do find something it's worthless.
Gen ships and new outposts wow amazing to look at...Look at...look at what value is looking without interacting sometimes we travel thousands of light years to find it and erm look at it and that's it done that moving on!!

ok slight rant there though I do like the game in small portions and have built up a good rep with the game but i feel personally that so much has been left by the way side, i wish frontier would for example say ok community we are bringing out for example generation ships ok cool but work on them and everything that thay can offer, docking, finding modules or something for your ship at least, searching inside them (though having space legs would help) which brings me to my next point...

Avatars holo me's I often thought with this feature that we would get space legs at some point soon perhaps we still will, but its ok looking at..looing at lol again frustrating and perhaps expecting to much but without saying the things we would like it may go a small way in nudging frontier in the direction of the players needs and more Qol items wanted.

Which brings me back to the main OP planet scanners PLEASE its time dont you think...:)

Just chiming in.

Anything you do, FD, make it optional.

I personally enjoy finding coordinates, and I don't want a "go here" sign (we get too much of that already).

For those that do, fair enough.
Just make it optional, please.

Well it would be optional by mere dint of being a manual input of a LAT and LON coordinate - anyone not wanting to use this facility simply wouldn't input anything - that's the beauty of it :)

Stealthie sort of surrenders:

Well, in a world where EDDB didn't already exist, and where people had compiled their own records of the best places to trade in ED, I
might argue that creating EDDB was "dumbing the game down" and removing an advantage for the people who'd put in the effort to compile their own records.

We, however, live in a world where EDDB already exists so I'm not going to be a jerk about it.
If I was, I wouldn't actually be running EDMC as a means of providing information for other people's benefit, would I?

I'm also hauling Tantalum at a CG to create AX weapons so that a bunch of people who're currently shooting at me in Wolf 397 can use those weapons to go and shoot Thargoids.
Go figure. [where is it]

Bookmark sufrace locations
Select locations from map
Temporary location markers, such as when plotting courses to stations right now

All of this, yes please. It's such an obvious thing to do, why isn't it done yet?
I guess people are more interested in nerfing missions, and flying to colonia with 180t of bertrandite for 250 credits + 4 modular terminals.

Wow. 31 pages in the suggestions subforum?
Should be a rule that after that much discussion over here, it automatically shows up on the to-do list in the next FD dev meeting. :)

HI there ,

Its fair to say I am not a regular on these forums at all but this thread and any on in game navigational issues be there relative to planetary bodies , interplanetary or interstellar perk my curiosity.

There have been improvements in game since my own first encounter contained within the lat / lon / heading minefield of planetary navigation ( https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/276669-Planetary-landing-assistance )
and I wonder if the current in game technology for planetary scan mission with the temporary and movable waypoint moving until you find the building to scan as suggested in the original post could manually selectable to allow tuning of discovery scanners to home in on other things planetside ( minerals etc/.)
