Quality of Life Improvement: Input LAT/LON Co-ords and have a Surface Waypoint appear, similar to the surface scan mission Waypoint.

Dear people of Frontier,

Just look at all these people in this thread that think it's a very good idea to implement a planetary waypoint system (like you can set your waypoint in the planetary map using the giving coordinates that are displayed in this screen.)
Don't you think it is a bit selfish to justnot respond to these suggestions?
By simply posting "We're working on it" you're giving off a message as an organisation that you really DO listen to your audience rather than IGNORING them.
I hope these replies to this thread speak for themselves.

Greetings,
BartV

It's a holdover from trench warfare for the Brits. Stick your head up, or light three cigarettes, and you get shot/shelled. :(

My screen's too small to see the LAT/LON numbers properly, making it a hard, prolonged squint in addition to all the difficulties mentioned above. For me, it's the single most difficult aspect of navigation, neigh impossible.

This is the evidence that the community needs you Frontier, please oh please leave a statement that you're working on this?

Have you tried to adjust FOV (field of view) in game settings or in the "AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\Settings.xml" file?
Increasing it should allow you to fit LAT/LON onto the screen (but all the things will be smaller).

They need to use "Old People Font"

I have to change glasses and move up closer to the screen to read the micro-font on the HUD.

It's the Topic Wot Won't Go Away[tm]

But I'm certain that Frontier have read and acknowledged the problem - even if they haven't deigned to answer it here.

I'm convinced that FDev don't see it as a problem. They see it as part of the challenge and skill of the player to fly blind. Essentially anything that takes up time and doesn't make sense is the way FDev are going with changes, if the Engineers is anything to go by.

Might be, might not be - I don't think Frontier are as malicious as that. But time will tell.

Quite some time has passed since we have planetary landing. Maybe this is the first thing we noticed the game was lacking. Still no feedback from FDev? Too busy with paintjobs and props?

Frontier hasn't acknowledged anything in this thread. That's the problem. If they can post a message saying they won't implement this in the game this whole discussion can be over.

It's been asked for before and I have no doubt it will be asked for again, but yes, the game very much needs this. I have no problems finding coordinates, got plenty of practice both from the real world and other games, but it is consuming more time than it should. Whenever I get a "tip off" mission I just philosophically (in the manner of stoicism) raise middle finger at the screen and delete the message. Can't really be bothered to waste my time on that.
All that's needed is the possibility to see coordinates when in the planetary surface map mode and an option to click and add waypoint.

Watch enough You Tube selfies of tough approaches, and you will see them flipping through all that data on their MFD's. I know of one moderator who is *still* stuck in the 1880's as far as acknowledging things have moved on. He calls himself a "pedant". There's another "p" word I would use, among others. :(
