Question for Open players who don't like PVP/ganking... help me understand

My personal opinion is that you must have encountered first hand the pure brutal ownage a PvP murderboat can inflict.
Many pilots, me included, played NPC farming simulator in PvE and were theorycrafting "good builds", thinking themselves superior in their experience in PvE. And then a murderhobo blows you out of the water using techniques you never heard of, delivering damage even a spec ops wing is hard pressed to do, and finally you realize, wow, there is even more...
People who never get ganked often fail to realize the disparity between a merely good PvE build and an optimized murderboat.
EZ fix

Make PvE act like PvP like how Eve Online does some of their more advanced PvE activities. These aren't for the feint of heart and anything short of top tier DPS/tanking/coordination is punishable by death

Sure, why not? It's not the PvP side that will scream bloody murder then 👍
That way so when "pve carebears" get ganked, they would just be like "Oh I died, oh well" because that's how it'd be like against AI too. Otherwise they'd have to also cry about the PvE too :)

PVE would still be in designated locations, and would therefore be fair. In fact, you're basically describing AX Conflict Zones.

The PVP you guys seem to want is more like if the station security just randomly blew you up half the time. No reason, nothing you can do to prevent it, just...boom.

You are also the record holder for the greatest gank in the game!

One little bit of posting silliness and Spear packed up their entire squadron to chase you half way across the galaxy! Then you allowed them to kill you once and bounced back to the bubble causing mayhem in their backyard!

If that ain't the biggest gank in the game I'd like to see what the hell is! Huge respect Cmdr! Double record holder!

While I was out near Beagle point in 2017 a player near me (I was around 10kLy away) put out a call for help. A fuel rat type player (not an actual fuel rat though) responded to the call & was blown up.

I think what spear achieved was pretty cool, and Phisto took it on the chin like a champ on the forum, I don't think it was a record.

I have to agree with you, Phisto took it really well and it was fun watching then trying to understand what happened after they blew up his eagle. You should have seen the system chat, from taunting, to the wheels turning in their heads, to finally silence. The video is all FAKE NEWS. Same with the rest of our guys, all are taking it well, even Paul who they now blew up 5 or 6 times without him ever doing something and they always needed a wing to do it.
Spear's achievements in that short time can't be over stated. They stopped the push for the last Colonia engineering upgrades to g5, caused a regional political crisis (not related to The Nameless), Deciat is burning, but best of all they got a lot of the Colonia locals mad at them. Fun times ahead, everything is just starting and I hope they packed a few changes of underwear. It will be a long road ahead for them and the local dictatorship. Carcosa is not the end, it's just the beginning.

Paul, if Spear did what they did for the reason you think, then Phisto's behaviour was responsible for the failure or delay of the projects you mention.

I get attacked quite a bit, both via the BGS & direct PvP. Some is unfocused, some not. I don't invite it, but I try not to shy away from it. If a project I am working on is delayed or fails I don't blame others, I accept my 'feedback' and try to learn from it. I have a word for it, I like to think of it as 'consequences'. I am not a particularly social person, but quite often I can't do things I want to do alone, so I have to negotiate. If I just opened fire all the time I'd not get anything like as much done ;) Might be fun, not that productive for the kind of goals you mention imo.

ETA I don't know Spear's motivation, but I am absolutely sure it won't be the same as your teams motivation. You are the ones that want to achieve your goals, there may be some common ground though.

If they came for what we thought they would be right now on their way to the bubble again and not boot-licking the local Dear Leader. But intel gathered shortly after their arrival and long before our first face-to-face contact with them mainly suggested they came for something else and that something else is directly effecting all the ongoing and planned projects. They shot yianniv of all people multiple times already!
On the other hand the whole thing brought a lot of players back who already gave up on the game, Phisto was already retired. So thanks Spear, I really like winging up with Phisto. I think whatever comes out of it it will be engaging for everybody involved, so long things stay in game. Sadly some people took/take it to far and we have/will report that stuff.
In the end it is a CG created by the community for the community. Anybody can come out and have fun. It also seems a good amount of people are even doing their deeds in open, which is a nice change. It will be at least another 6 months to a year before we really know which way things will be going, anything in between is just temporary. Might be even the first larger PvP conflict with space legs.

It would be fun fighting them if it wasn't always a 1v4, 1v7. No real reason to stick around. The only one from the ones I met until now who was somewhat reasonable was @LeKeno. After seeing that it was a 4v14 he left the system again, so he got a minus point on our internal gwiefer bot, He is now at +++++++++.;)

What I'm saying is blaming others for your failures isn't a good PR move. Any player can attack any other player or group for any reason, or no reason at all. Friend of mine got attacked once because of the colour of their ship trails ;)

Oh. I see. Let me find it for you.

Myself and many others ruthlessly criticized this post. And rightfully so. Days later the entirety of SPEAR's forces were at my in-game doorstep, specifically calling me out and intending to target me specifically for an untold amount of kills. Fact is the attitudes expressed within that thread and in game are the most dangerous and toxic in all of gaming. If you fail to condone these attitudes and even worst support them with your actions you are part of the problem and absolutely worthless to the health of this community or any other.

Finally I will never, ever apologize for saying what I think is right regardless of the cost to myself or my friends.

Period. Dot.

No real failures yet and the failures we did we always took responsibility for.
I'm pretty proud of the 5 inexperienced guys from us on what they did the last 7 months, holding off 20+ people and get them into 3 wars against all odds is quite a thing.

Here's one:

I'm under attack at the moment, and I have shuffled my priorities around. I do not blame those attacking me if I fail, even if the reason I am under attack is a distraction to make some other project fail. If I am distracted successfully, that's on me.

I'm not blaiming them, as you said they came out here to do that and they succeeded. GG to Spear.

Btw I would shoot somebody with yellow ship tails too, what's just not right. ;)
