Questions regarding Squadrons, Minor Factions and Vanguards in contect of colonisation

Greetings Commanders, Dear Frontier Development,
Now that colonisation is open for everyone, The Gatekeepers are willing to participate in colonisation, serving their beliefs.
The Gatekeepers would like to be registered as faction, though currently there seems not to be a way to do this in a officially.

Is there a way we don't see?

Additionally, in context of colonization, a support initiative is planned to be started. Even without The Gatekeepers being registered as faction, we'd like to be able to already start this initiative.

But will there be a possibility to set faction affiliation later, when The Gatkeepers are registered?

We'd like to request more information.

You can (as of the 4.19 Ascendancy release) change your squadron's faction and power affiliations at any time, and independently of each other. You need to be personally Allied to the faction to make the pick, but can select a Power other than your own.

So you could pick a suitable NPC faction now (In terms of nearby names, "Gateway Organisation" or "Gateway Jet Brotherhood" are as good as it gets, I think) and start colonising with that, then if at some future point (as Ozric says, no sign that Frontier are going to) you were able to create a new NPC faction, you could switch your squadron over to it at that point.

Are you sure?

I've tested both personally since the Ascendancy release.

The one "cost" is that you will lose any leaderboard points for the current season accumulated under the previous affiliation.
