R.I.P Michael Brookes

My first meeting with Michael was at the very first Lavecon. He brought posters of some concept art with him, which he signed and gave out to everyone who attended (there were about 30 of us, as I recall).

That poster has always had pride of place in my home, and will now also serve as a remembrance piece of a fine man.

Sad news.

Very sad news. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
I appreciate all the effort and love and detail he put into Elite Dangerous, making it a more beautiful and fun game, with genuine mystery as well as marvels.
A part of him remains in his books and I have a softback copy of the appropriately-named Elite: Legacy when I want to be reminded of him.
o7 CMDR, fly safe in your next sky.

Such sad news. I saw him as Lavecon as he was moving across to the Jurassic Park franchise. Perhaps, considering he set up so much of the lore in Elite from the kick starter days the most fitting tribute to this wonderful man would be the Tionisla Grave yard site, or perhaps some sort of memorial at the location, for him.

Back when I started playing in 2015, Michael Brookes and Sandro basically were Elite. I never met Michael unlike a lot of people here, but in his forum posts and other interactions with the player base, it was clear that he genuinely cared about the game. I know he hadn't been directly involved with the game for a while now but he has a legacy that will live on as long as the game itself. A sad loss.

I never had the opportunity to interact with him directly but would thank him for his work and passion on a game I’ve played for far longer than any other which is, without a doubt, a result of his work and vision.

Gone far too soon I would presume from the videos linked above. As pages like this sometimes make their way to family and friends I’d certainly add my condolences to them and thanks to him here too.

Sad news indeed. MB's enthusiasm for ED and his candour was always appreciated here, and also when I spoke with him at Elite Meet Birmingham (2016?) when with a few words he inspired me to continue perusing the galaxy at leisure for years to come. RIP.

Terribly sad news. I recall being in awe of his writing talent and creativity. I always looked forward to reading his book reviews and regret not having the chance to sit down and talk scifi with him.

In the early days of the kickstarter his enthusiasm for Elite lore really shone through and I truly believe that Frontier wouldn't be where they are today without him.

I didn't know him personally but feel like I did. He will be missed. Rest in peace Michael.

Awfully sad news.

My condolences to all his friends and family, and everyone who will miss him and his great contributions to life and happiness. I never met him in real life, but his enthusiasm and hard work has made me happy for years and years, and many other people too.

Rest in Peace, master of the galaxy.
