Rare Commodities List!

If you people still don't believe the pricing that occurs now is indeed due to bugs then how do you explain that the galactic average is often half of what you can buy it for at the ONLY STATION IN THE GALAXY where it can be bought ?

You can only buy Chi Eridani Marine Paste at one station in the galaxy (540cr or so) and still the average price is listed as 270cr (last times I checked, 2 hours apart). That can't be anything but a bug.
People still believe in Jeebus and other fairy tales. Let´s hope people at FD are more intelligent. It´s clearly a bug.

Anyone seen this post in the bugs forum?

Sounds like speculation from a Moderator rather than official word from the devs, but worrying none the less.

I did notice something like this in gamma 1.05 when selling kitten coffee to a system which had a high supply of regular coffee only selling for half the price I was expecting, but it could just have been coincidence

I have tried multiple outpost that shows the same low sell price. The gal average I paid over 200ly away was just over 500cr now this far away its 113cr.

Yeah same, I'm 160 LY from point of purchase, selling to a different faction , at an outpost - still only sells for a loss.

I know that with the problems with rare trading at the moment people might be less interested in this, but I put together a Voice Attack script to automatically put in your next jump for trip.

Details are at this thread over here; please give it a go and let me know what you think in that thread.

I flew to Neto - which, as far as I know, is pretty far from most rare goods, and over 180LY from Any Na. Pricing is quite low, 1486 (bought for 1790). I decided to fly around a bit and see what I could find (I remember there being a good little trade route here somewhere, but I forgot it, so now trying to discover it again, and am going from station to station checking prices as I go...) Current buy price for Any Na coffee at Maclean Port, which is about 36000Ls from the system's star (Wolf 1509) is 1486cr. Somehow, I doubt any of you have been rushing to this station to sell anything...

May have to accept my losses, but will hang around for a good 15 20 mins and see if a refresh of the list does anything...

Having said that, a 300cr loss on 36T is not so bad, considering I've made 2m in just 2 nights from 4 trips. That's about 7 times what I made in the week before that doing other stuff...

Of ourse, it's quite late here, and I should get to sleep - so I may just leave my cargo in the hold and see what the prices are like tomorrow.

Z...

Well after stopping at about 10 different systems, and 18 or so stations, going a total of 117LY from Chi Eridani my rare Rice is still selling at 180C loss per tonne. I have tried Industrial Stations, Agricultural, bloody everything and still no sod wants my 192 tonnes of Rice.

It's been cleaned by filter fish and hand picked by specialist robots for Glod's sake, that must mean something to someone somewhere :D

It's almost certain that there is one or more bugs related to the rare goods.

Right now, officially they only said that they were going to reduce the supplies but they could also have changed (nothing on the change log but it's a server change so it isn't expected to be on the client change log) that the rare goods prices aren't only calculated based of distance but also on demand. Still, this doesn't explain the nonsense galactic average and that why in a few minutes the price can change from around 200 to 15k. So yeah, there is certainly some problems.

Edit: Well, I contradict myself. If there is a change on the demand, it could make a change on the price if that is indeed how it works now but still, changing from a few hundreds to a few thousands is still a bit weird.

totally agree - but it certainly isnt a case of "its a bug and once its fixed things will go back to how it was before".

they've changed a lot and regardless of (any number of bugs in any number of areas) its not going to be the easy cash-cow it was before.

Frustrating isn't it? Same problem here, need to dump that damned stuff somewhere so that I don't lose all my money, but so bored I might just do so and go shoot something instead.

Maybe if we find someone trying to sell 192 tonnes of Chicken Korma we could get together and have a Curry Night :D

Quasi-random, transistion buys?

From my post in the other thread...

Last night it looked like if were carrying rare goods over the transition from Gamma 1.05 to 2.00 the cargo you were carrying will be worth less than you bought it for, regardless of the market.

If you go and re-buy it in 2.00, the correct market values would be seen.

Two of us carried rares over the update, and in both cases it was worthless, mine at a system that had 3(!) visitors in the last 24 hrs, so it's extremely unlikely that anyone "flooded" that system with Whisky!

Re-buying both Eranin Whisky and Lavian Briandy worked as expected, although there were only two Lavian Brandies to be had (coincidence?) The Lavian Brandy was worth about CR16,000 at Eranin, which was about CR1000 less than 1.05. That being said, there were 33 Eranin Whisky to be bought, which I sold at Njikam for about CR150,000 (only 90LY)

It could be that there was just some weird DB stuff going on in the background, or their attempt to nerf the system just buggered things up!

They just need to put a complete stop to this nonsense and kill rares, as it's a complete distraction from the game itself. (we're just screwing around, and intend to self-wipe on the 16th since that was always the "plan")

I dont see a problem with rare item prices, I mean they are rare and it takes me about an hour to get around 180LY away so I dont see the issue with how much I make from them...

This does smell of bug or server issues to me. I made a 16000 profit on 10 items earlier. Port to port journey was 160ly. Initially I took them to a rare goods world but was making a loss. So I moved a system over and bang 16000 profit. Ok made sense at the time but now the same materials no matter where I go are losing money.

It's not a sensible use of time when it's like this I think.

It's not a distraction, it's part of the game. I love how people who've made a ton of money off rares already come to this thread to say how it's broken or an exploit or a "distraction". It may need some balancing, but it's certainly not a cash cow, any more than trading is. If you're a relatively new/poor player then it takes ages to do a run, whereas if you're in a bigger ship then you're probably at the stage where the amount of money you make isn't all that much compared to how much you need for the next ship anyway.

Try Uncle Ben's station at Hach.

My problem being, avarage galaxy price was 8k +, allready in Gamma 2, when I bought it for 1,4k per unit.

Now trying to sell it, since 130 LY away, and tried every station I came across.

Mean time, I am 240 LY away from original buying place, and only NOW! I notice, it has been 1204 for ever, but the avarage galaxy price is lowered...... 600 per unit.
Guess I just have to sell it, take my loss, and take a different approache.

I dont know if this was a balacing factor, or a bug.

But I reacon we should atleast get our original value back for it, since the change.

Maybe one of the Devs changed their minds and now rare items are not so rare any more only slightly rare. And in fact are now normal rare. But you cannot sell them as they are rare in the imaginary sense, even though they are less than worthless in reality. And even though they are still called rare. So you have to use your imagination silly.

Or!!!! The AI has taken over and the Devs are fighting for their liiiiiivesss!!! They don't have time to update us worthless rare fonderers... I hope they are ok!

As it was it was a farce, even for a modest ship like a Hauler. A 140LY trip is nothing for a Hauler with a "B" FSD, and you could/can make about CR1,000,000 in about an hour, which is utterly ridiculous.

No matter how you try to defend it, it was an exploit that made all other income methods ludicrous.

When I was doing it this morning at around 1am I was getting a good price at around 150LY away...
