This.It might not be objectively better but if it's more enjoyable, then that trumps everything.
T-9 feels like I'm fighting with the controls all the time, trying to squeeze out that last bit of performance.
Excellent.

I have never failed an npc interdiction attempt in a type 9 and I'm a terrible pilot. In a Type 9 I might have struggled as I'm a little out of practice.
I fit supercruise assist on all hauling ships. The "five second dip" is an invaluable time saver.I have never failed an npc interdiction attempt in a type 9 and I'm a terrible pilot.
One way to reduce interdictions is to use the supercruise assist trick it greatly reduces the window npcs and players have too interdict you.
Sure.. except that NPCs are amazing interdictors...I fit supercruise assist on all hauling ships. The "five second dip" is an invaluable time saver.
I agree. SometimesThis.

I much prefer the Imperial Cutter, as I waste less time (it is much faster in and out of stations and has more cargo capacity), can take on serial interdicting NPCs during missions and get engineering materials. As noted before avoiding interdictions by NPCs is possible without fail in a T9 with some practice, but a Cutter also lets me better escape gankers, griefers and PC pirates at Community Goals. A Cutter probably also attracts more PC adversaries, which can add to the gameplay.Interested in people's thoughts on this. An excuse to buy and outfit a second Type 9, purely for cargo hauling, would keep me occupied the rest of the weekend no doubt lol.
I almost always boost towards the station with an Imperial Cutter, exception is on community goals and when I drop in more or less frontal from the mail slot.I prefer the T9 over the Cutter when its only 2-3 jumps because of the ability to boost towards a station. You can fly the T9 very aggressively. The Cutter will drift past the station on boosting. Thats my only reason.
Some consequences are very welcome. But I'd really grind for discounted Reactive Armors, 8A Thrusters and 8A Power Plants. It is so cheap that there's really not much consequence to losing it.
Get your eye in again and the T-9 is just as safe as anything else against npc interdictions. Tonight I've evaded a Viper and a Cobra in mine; it's been literally years since something managed to get it.Perhaps I've just been unlucky, but I seem to get interdicted a LOT whenever I do trading. Certainly lately, my unarmed Cutter has been hassled a lot, but it's just so easy to get away. In a Type 9 I might have struggled as I'm a little out of practice.
Hey all,
I'm doing some trading in my "Cargo Cutter", but was wondering if there's any reason, other than cost, to use a Type 9 instead. While the Type 9 can ultimately haul more cargo of course the Cutter is far more likely to get it there. It's faster - being able to outrun most ships that could potentially hurt it - and can be shielded enough, even in a smaller slot, that ships that can catch it, can't real deal sufficient DPS before it jumps away.
The Type 9 on the other hand is a slow, large target. It could have decent enough shields, but that would compromised the cargo capacity. On "safe" routes, it'd likely be fine, but due to how the game seems to magically make enemies appear, rather than having any logical way they could have "found" you, well, the Cutter remains the better option.
I've used a Type for Mining in the past to great effect, but it only very rarely got hassled. I've not really thought much about this, just pondering how I'm using this luxury barge as a truck, rather than the game's "ultimate" truck as a truck...

You mean I’m the only one that just boosts their cutter to the station and uses the mail slot for a brake?I prefer the T9 over the Cutter when its only 2-3 jumps because of the ability to boost towards a station.
