When I don't like a game feature I just don't do the thing. Every player already has the ability to "remove" engineers. Personally, I enjoy engineering and all the game activities which go with it, as well as the theory-crafting in EDSY

It would appear that, as has been mentioned many times before, some players want all of the benefits without any of the play associated with it. (while the remainder of us just play...)
The OP suggesting that a Bethesda game would be less 'grindy' is enough to bring a smile to my face though...
I'm a little confused at why CMDR's want to get rid of engineers? With out them you wouldn't have any reason to land on planets to collect raw materials. My ships would have much shorter jump range without engineering. The search for any of the materials is part of the challenge. There might be reason to have play in the arena so player can just purchase the ship they want and pew pew to their hearts content. The grind is like life , for a never ending game its part of the mission. I have to mow my lawn ever week i may not love it but its part of life.
