REMOVE the module storage limit

before removing of even increasing the storage modules limits they should really add some tool to organize them, filtering, sorting and the likes.

I could probably reduce the number of modules I currently have in storage if there was a filter, particularly for legacy engineered modules. Ever since the RNGineering changes many moons ago, I've been slowly upgrading the legacy stuff, especially those that I didn't get to the max grade I wanted. Some legacy are top grade engineered but don't have an experimental/special. I don't recall the UI telling me it's got legacy RNGineering other than the UI once I've selected a module to RNGineer. Wish it showed that in Outfitting/Storage. That'd be a QoL improvement I'd welcome too.

As for more module storage space, I would expect that would also increase the time it takes for Outfitting to load to a point some would then complain about that. One step at a time, Sci. One step at a time.

Not at all, hence I cannot understand opposition unless (as I said before) there is an actual reason, other than personal preference.

I can see justification for a low cap as Jukelo said, there is a dilemma in the inventory management at a low level. I don't think that really applies any more at 120, like bookmarks it just seems to be a number that should be big enough for most situations, and fairly arbitrary.

There are PP modules, hyper-engineered legacy and current modules, weapon sets for specific builds, Class A fuels scoops in all sizes (hard to get in my location), Scanners, Interdictors, mining rigs Mil Armour, superceded by Reactive, Lightweight engineered armour, Shields of various flavours/meta's.... CLASS 4 WEAPONS FOR 'VETTES, which unless you buy multiple Vettes all eat up space!!! C4 Plasmas, MC's, Beams OC & Effic etc. etc. etc.

I still use all of them occasionally and given the hours put in grinding mat's and rep to access and engineer them. I don't think it unreasonable to be able to store and manage them without having to spend hours shuffling them on and off various ships.

It's a shame I'm halfway to Colonia (other direcetion) or I'd look at my inventory and come up with a number. But based on the ~110 I have in storage and guessing 70 on dedicated storage ships... I'd say a 200 cap would suffice.

If however there was a decenet management system I could cut that down to 150 cap.

I think it's called "making choices". Less is more. Freedom through limitation.
There's something inherently essential about making choices for games to function. The module and ship storage is pretty generous as far as I'm concerned. I think maybe you need to trim your collection down. Make some meaningful choices. Asking for the storage limit to be completely dispensed with just because you can't make meaningful choices is not a very good argument for doing so.

No, as far as I'm concerned the module limit is fine. But yes, I think if you are running out of space maybe you should trim your collection. It's a bit of advice based on the current state of play, which is unlikely to change with this sort of pointless and, frankly, dull thread which really only amounts to someone expressing their opinion and not much more and is very unlikely to change anything at all. There are soooo many threads like this in the forums, as some have pointed out, they get recycled and just clog up space.

No, the main argument, plainly, is that choices are required in games, where there are naturally limits and boundaries, without which there wouldn't be much of a game.

It's a bit like playing a game of chess and then starting a forum post on how the limit on the number of pawns is a bit irksome, for your tastes, so can we please change the rules for you? Yeah, daft in the extreme.

Never said 'it would effect me' also didnt say i wouldnt want more storage. Did you just make that up? But apparently the folks at Frontier think you have enough module storage and don't really care whether we want more or not. it's just annoying having to keep reading the same thread being cloned seeming to get progressively whinier.

Another day and instead of enjoying newly engineered ship I'm wasting time on buying another Viper to store existing modules, browsing a dozen of STORAGE SHIPS to find the powerplay module I need right now. For the love of God, FDev have mercy... I'm and "end game player" (really hate that phrase!) that have all ships, all powerplay items and top engineered stuff for different occasions, but due to this IRRATIONAL restriction time spent with Elite only gives raises my frustration levels. Really, I'd like to try different ship builds rather than flying CAST IN STONE META SHIPS over and over...

I presume for a start the reason there is a limit is like with many things both a technical reason and a gameplay reason.

I guess remove the limit and you get some people's module storage would be like this..

Yeah, i'm not sure of gameplay reasons except to intentionally limit. But there again, i can't read the minds of devs.

I don't see a problem to having more space for modules. This game has changed since it was originally created and amongst those changes includes a tremendous increase in new weapons, modules, and engineering. Perhaps an increase the storage and improvement of module management could alleviate this problem for people I see little to lose over doing something like this.

Well now, apart from 'demand' posts generally being disregarded, especially when put in the wrong place (ought to be a suggestion and in the Suggestions thread), I think I see some ideas here...

I'm not going to make a suggestion thread, at least not until the general idea has been boiled down to something most might agree with, but anyways...

First up, if the module storage limit can be raised without technical issues, please raise it. No idea by how much, but judging based on replies I imagine double would more than satisfy just about everybody, and the edge cases will just have to suffer

Second, add a 'Browse Stored Modules' button such that players can browse their storage in much the same way as they currently browse outfitting: i.e. by module type.

Third, add a ship template storage option. Using this players would outfit a ship to their liking and then store it as a template, said templates also being browsable. In future, assuming the modules are available from their 'stock', players could then 'outfit using template' any other ship. That is, a player could enter outfitting in their 'mining python' for example, browse through to their 'cargo python' template, hit the button and then sit back as the station reconfigures automatically.

I think they should address this in 2 parts.

Part 1 - reduce the storage limit to 10 - any modules over 10 are thrown out in to space and left to float around until some time Devs makes a module limpet collector module.

Part 2 - now increase the modules back to 120.

Wow everyone is happy, those who said the module limit should decrease got their way, those who wanted it to stay the same got their wish and those who wanted it lifting so they could buy more stuff also got their wish as they have an extra 110 slots to fill up.
