Rent your FC for AFK credits!

Multiaccounting is a breach of ToS, EULA or whatever it's called.
What are you on about? Read my OP, none of what I'm requesting requires the owner to give me his Netflix Frontier account information. He just has to deliver me to my destination and agree to leave the carrier there with the desired services enabled (and with a name of my choosing for the duration of the "rental"). It's still "his" (or her) carrier, I'm just using the multiPLAYER aspect of the game to benefit from a shared mobile shipyard and UC.

I've been thinking of offering my FC as a Taxi service, maybe for someone to go to get some specific materials, visit some guardian sites or rescue their commander or whatever.
It's loaded with a hold full of Tritium and ready to go, not sure if it's a good idea though?

I'm hoping lots of players like yourself set up taxi services. I rode a ferry from the Bubble to Colonia, and I actually preferred being the passenger over being the owner who had to plot all those jumps. He had multiple passengers, and we all donated Tritium and UC data, so he actually made out quite well!

What the ...? Anything else? Some fries with that? Would you like some cookies on top too? When would you be delighted seeing me of service to you?

I am glad you posted that, I absolutely love the idea and do not see why people seem to missing the brilliance of it.

The Taxi / Ferry like service already seems to be kicking off and I too managed to hop on a FC and finally reach Colonia - been travelling back thoroughly enjoying the trip and hoping to be back in the bubble this weekend some time. I have found sooo many systems of 60+ bodies, pristine rings and hundreds of discoveries - but I fear that I have already lost 1 of my 2 SRV's, my hull is currently @ less than 70% (note to self, remember to read gravity data before attempting to land on planets) and thus am now too nervous to continue to explore too much for fear of losing all my carto data.

I also doubt I would be able to afford a FC for a long time yet (still preferring game play over "bigger / better stuff" for the sake of "bigger better stuff") - being able to rent one and return to some of these systems and truly explore & mine to my hearts content would be amazeballs.

+1

I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford a fleet carrier; I hate grinding and the nerfs are coming! Thing is, I don't need to own a fleet carrier to do what I want. I would happily rent a FC from another player, but this means that player would need to actually "give" me their carrier for a period of time. Specifically, it would need to offer the services I require, be moved to the location I designate, and I would like to choose the name for the carrier for the duration of my "lease". It seems to me the best candidate for this would be a CMDR who is taking a break from the game, or a CMDR with a rarely-used alt account who also happens to own a FC.

In return, that carrier would make credits through my actions. I would be cashing in cartographic data, using it for refueling and repairs (feel free to apply those tariffs), and I'd also be happy to mine Tritium or LTDs if the carrier offered me a fair (but profitable for the owner) price. It probably wouldn't be a LOT of credits, but it would be better than nothing, especially if the CMDR who owns the carrier is AFK doing other things. Heck, if nobody is home, might as well rent out the house for a little income!

I'm posting this more to discuss the general idea rather than me personally renting a FC, though I am interested in the possibility. My biggest concern as the renter is the issue of trust - I would be bringing my entire fleet and requesting the FC go to a specific location for a duration of time. A bad actor could easily "kidnap" my fleet or deactivate docking privileges while I'm in a non-exploration ship out in the middle of nowhere. I would also like the keep the destination private, my own little personal bubble of sorts. Trust is a must!

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

ps - if my PS4 account had enough credits, I would buy a FC there and "rent" it to myself on PC, but even that account is far shy of 5 billion credits, assets included. :(
If you can mine 100 tons of LTD there is a carrier buying for 574,430 a ton - instant Carrier! Wait... that's not right

Thats only 57+ million he'd need 1000 tons. He should just nut up and grind like everyone else had to. Its like wanting muscles but dont want to exercise cuz im lazy and hiring a bodyguard instead

Your contributions to discussions like these are always so.... profound.

Speaking of lazy, when you going to go get a real job so you can afford that VR you keep begging for? :p

Stands to reason a percentage of owners will wind down their own uses for their fleet carrier after a certain amount of time passes. You may get some some interesting uage scenarios popping up.

Its hardly having break from game if u are to jump carrier here and there.

Not sure if u are risking anything except credits- if left behind u can suicide and respan at carrier. Then u switch ship to non engineered and suicide again but this time chooaking sidey in the bubble.
And then summon(?) ur fleet to bubble. Problem is, if carrier will jumo to beagle point i van end up paying 2bil for corvette, for example.

If u are ok with mining ltd then Id grind for fc from time to time and slowly progress toward personal fc. It seems its even easier than in borann.

Or wait untill someone will discover quad ltd in the black. That will be my raxxla, once i leave bubble for months

Allow me to clarify - once the carrier is in place, it can stay there for the next month or two. I explore in an expanding spherical manner, and as long as the FC is within 10 jumps of my explorer ship (which is over 500 ly), I'll be more than happy. There are a LOT of systems in a sphere with a radius of 500 ly!

So it's basically a day of jumping for the owner, and then he / she can go play [insert hot new game of 2020] for the next month or two knowing his / her fleet carrier is being put to good use and earning some credits on the side while they are gone.

I'll be offline all next week, so I'll ask you which you prefer:
  1. Move my FC to a system of your choice on Friday night (June 19)
  2. Stay where I'm at and passively collect LTDs which could easily reach 1 billion in profits. These profits will be transferred to your FC fund.
Are you CMDR Krash on PC? If so, why does it say you were active 17 months ago?

UPDATE - I have my own fleet carrier! I'm coming back to this thread because while I'm in the honeymoon phase now, I'm sure the day will come when I'll be playing other games and my FC will go unused. Granted, that may be a couple of months from now, but when that day does come, I would be willing to "lease" my Fleet Carrier to anyone interested. My terms would mirror the OP:
  • You provide the fuel. It can be bought cheap in the Bubble and sold to the FC market to fill up the reserves. A round-trip's worth would be required.
  • You use the services on the FC to help offset the upkeep costs. For explorers, this is primarily the universal cartographer.
  • If you want to temporarily rename the carrier for a sense of ownership during the "lease", we must agree on the name (I'm not calling it "Butthead's Carrier").
  • You provide the flight plan (jump points). Also, I have no desire to jump all the way out to Beagle Point.
  • Once at destination, carrier movement should be minimal - think of it as a mobile base, with emphasis on "base" rather than "mobile".

Anyway, like I said, it'll be awhile, but if you want the perks of a fleet carrier without all the hassle, this may be an option for you!

Or you can do what Old Duck did in the first place to get one, which was to beg other players to give him money in game to buy one lol.
