Heavy judder in RES sites - yes or no

Tried that today no difference in using 4 or even 2.
Hoping for a patch...

yeah sorry for the false hope. I have tried this as well with no difference.

I have tried setting everything to low with no difference

I have updated DSK to v0.6.0.1 (direct to rift now works :) yay!) but the SC low FPS is still there.

----

I have NOT tried normal mode on a monitor... to see if FPS tanks in SC.

I have asked my support fellow CMDR Vega to escalate this issue to the dev team to investigate and fix in a patch.

again, please raise a ticket for your individual issues.

yeah I went into mt appconfig file and set my prepare shaders from auto to 1 and it prepared shaders on load. and its good again.

Even a 980Ti doesn't get rid of Judder

Hi, all

I am running an AMD 8350 (8core 4.6GHz) machine with a new 980Ti Nvidia card.

If I run some of the other Oculus demos like the built in demo scene or roller coaster demo, all is smooth as butter.

E:D not so much at all.

Rift on extended mode.
All cores are unparked, high performance power mode, visuals in Windoze optimized for performance.

According to MSI Afterburner, my GPU never hits 60% utilization and my 8 CPUs basically the same - maybe 70%.
No RAM issues (16GB)

Not sure what Frontier demos on, but despite throwing money at the problem, E:D VR sucks.

You have to go through the nvidia guide at the top of this forum.

You won't completely eliminate judder. It still happens in supercruise under some circumstances and it still happens with other players or NPCs around due to some network related quirk. It does make the experience almost completely smooth, though. It is a pain in the ass and there are a lot of things to fiddle with.

Yup, meticulously went through. My point I suppose is that it seems that we are having to do a lot of the work here, that Frontier should be ahead of where they are at this point.

After all the tweaking I still see judder even on low settings.

My DK2 is now on eBay and I'll wait for Q1 2016 to get the real deal while playing "normally"

Very disappointing

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean exactly when you use the word "judder"?

I've not experienced anything that would make me want to sell my dk2, and I'm using a single non-ti 980. Were you using supersampling or what? Did you turn off the settings that are stupid / ugly in the Rift (like blur and bloom)? Did you plug your camera into a powered USB hub with nothing else on it? Did you try the Oculus 0.6.1 runtime? Did you try the 0.5.1 runtime? How many versions of the Nvidia drivers did you try?

You should be able to get your device in an "occasional judder" state that only experiences judder during the unpreventable network / texture loading issues.

Regarding "Frontier should be ahead of where they are", that's kind of an aggressive statement considering you purchased a developer kit for developers and complained when it didn't work straight out of the box...

Wow, a whole five hours between first post asking for help and the second selling it on eBay! Doesn't exactly give anyone here a great deal of time to help you does it?
.
p.s. the reason the image in your signature doesn't work in your first post, is you need to put [ img ] [ /img] tags around it.

Can you define "judder"? Are we talking of occational judder during supercruise? If we do even Titan X quad-SLI wont solve that.
If you get judder everywhere so0mething is wrong since i could play it with a single R9 290 non X completely judderfree unless i entered a RES site.

About the AMD CPU: Anyone else using these. They are quite a bit weaker then a modern intel i7 unless the many cores are used very well. Others running smooth with an AMD CPU?
Don't take this as AMD bashing btw. Just trying to help finding the source of the problem.

I'm using a 980ti, and it's a fantastic experience in the rift. Can play in open with 1.5/2.0 ingame supersampling and it's mainly smooth apart from the very occasional judder which is by no means game breaking. It's a bit harsh to say ED VR sucks. I think something is wrong with your setup, especially with your GPU only hitting 60% doesn't sound right.

More likely a network issue or incorrect setup. Did you try the practise scenarios? Are you getting "stutter" on those also?

training mode is judder free,

open play though,
super cruise is a dog, judder city,
to many blocking calls, whatever is happening,
freeze, start, freeze start,
freeze, start, freeze start,
don't move your head in super cruise, you will vomit

while i saw improvements in res and in docking bays, i saw the opposite in super cruise.
a lot of people saw it

Jeremy,

can you check each of the core load in task manager/process hacker2 (or any other means for per core cpu graphs)
When there is judder, is one of the cores at 100% ?

(experiencing this with judder in SC when NPC start to spawn on my dual core g3258)

This one thousand times over.

There is no way you should have bad judder with your video card its either you have something set up wrong or maybe something with your cpu with my i5 4690k and gtx 980 (non TI) overclocked to 1475 mhz boost i only rarely have anything i would call judder like really really rare. i even play at a slightly higher resolution 2103 x 1183 and have most settings on high. So you might want to throw your money into a new cpu or and i really hope this is the case you just missed something during setup like having one of the usb pluged into a 2.0 slot and the other a 3.0 has caused other ppl issues for example also some ppl have had issues using it with usb 3.0 at all like me for example if my rift is plugged into my 3.0 ports i have nothing but issues in most games.

Okay - have you changed the rift to run with the display upside down ... and then checked to see if the judder is still there. No .. seriously.

Hi Buyback - I've just tested this as part of a support case. I have a hex core AMD. Most are running low to medium utilisation and my GPU isn't being hit hard. When in Supercruise, the moment NPCs spawn I notice that my last core (already the busiest) gets maxed out and my FPS drops, even though GPU is still not being hit. This is the same when I play it without the Rift.

It looks like a core scheduling issue - although only Frontier devs will know for sure.
