Right Click for Bookmarks.

Maybe I'm wrong, but there seems to be no way to just click on a bookmark and see what it's marking from the Galaxy map. I think that would be most useful.
Also there seems to be no way to filter bookmarks by distance; which given the sprawl of this game, literally thousands of light years, I would think should be a given.
If I am looking for a safe station to refuel, I should be able to do it in game, without pulling up Inara.

Inara should be in the game in its entirety.

Inara is not FDEV property, that can't just take it! As for bookmarks, we used to be able to do that, mouse over and right click and view bookmark data, add and remove bookmarks etc from the galaxy map, but it was removed due to player complaints about performance issues. Of course that was a few years ago and PC's have come a long way since then and it may not have as much of a performance impact now since a lot of people have upgraded their PC's, but it was removed after player problems and requests, doubt if they will now put it back.

Thanks Varonia, Uthael, I appreciate the replies. Sorry I've been a little late getting back to you, but IRL work tends to squeeze things.

Of course they can't just take it. They should be able to recreate a lot of it though.

They could put the better bookmarks back with a toggle in settings, warning that it uses a lot of computer resources.

Inara does nothing bur mirror FDev data for the game. When people say it should be in game they don't mean take it. They mean put all it's features into the game properly which FDev is 100% entitled to do with their own data. They can but will not fix their own UI and data search capabilities and have them work realtime from real data not uploads.

No, Inara collects and collates the data and puts it into a usable format, they aren't mirroring FDEV data, FDEV have stated in the past that the databases they use aren't set up to easily extract the the data players want in the way players want it, it would a huge burden to do that. The idea here for Inara was to take that data and put it into a database and format that was useful for players, and that's the bit you would be stealing. People invest years lives into these things, and you want FDEV to casually take it away and make Inara and the entire process pointless and a waste of time? What about Spansh and ED Astrometrics, you want to take them as well?

Now to point out, the reason the data has never been available directly from FDEV is because they don't want to just supply everything to the player, the idea from the very beginning was to allow players to explore and gather data themselves and analyse it, from the very beginning it was intended to be a player driven activity with little input from FDEV, that activity has kept players invested the game for many years, they aren't going to change that now, and by all accounts it would be a major change to their systems to even do so.

The data comes from FDev directly CApi and indirectly journal written by the client and uploaded. they have a couple of things like narratives but none of the game data is theirs as they cannot generate anything. They knew the risks when it was setup and they know that it's perfectly within FDevs rights to shut them out or take any feature they want to take. That was always a risk. Seems unlikely to happen but it's the simple reality of it and all the external tools live by FDevs grace.

I would 100% support FDev implementing all the features that the external tools provide in game. They exist because the game doesn't provide what we need and having primary tools built into the game that meet the player's desires is a positive. I would love all the external tools to become redundant because the game finally actually lets us do what we want to. They exist to cover failures in the game UI. I respect the time and effort that all the tool creators have put into making the game playable but you're cooked if you think that FDev couldn't just implement those features and render any of them completely redundent. They absolutely can and they absolutely should make their UI better.

Fdev are unlikely to do it but they 100% can and the time and effort people put into extrnal tools is not a moral or legal blocker to them rendering any external tool obsolete without warning. They're not stealing anything they're just exercising their rights even if you don't like them.

Inara's speciality isn't in the data, it is in how it is processed and presented. Frontier have already more or less admitted that they don't have the capacity to do that.
