Well, I've backed both games - ED and SC. And AFAIK SC has a far greater P2W model underlying it. After all, with 120 USD or so you could get all the starting positions (on top of everything else). While the piecemeal ship selling of SC...
It will be a difficult balance between easiness to acquire SC premium ships (through purchase or capturing them) with the cost they had to the pledgers.
After all, if I could earn enough money to buy a Idris (or capture a Scythe) within a month, how would someone that paid a hell of a lot of money to buy one feel? On the other hand, if it is quite impossible, it becomes P2W. Though balancing, hopefully CIG will pull it off without (too) much commotion.

Smaller ships and correspondingly faster ship turning movements.
I think they will feel like they supported the game and helped it getting made, Just like the people who paid 200£ for the ED alpha does.
After all if you have a Idris it's probably because you like the idea of having big ships and probably your first goal is getting something bigger (like a destroyer or something that can't be bought for real money) and your Idris will end up collecting dust.
From what I've of ED the Federation fighters has a pretty darn good turning rate as well. The Hornet in that SC video is a small single seat fighter.
Well, true to a point, but I doubt everyone will go along that line of thought.
Anyway I did not buy any expensive ship in SC - starting almost rock bottom (a lowly Aurora) - it is the journey, not the destination. Likewise I may start ED with the simple Sidewinder and 100 Cr, despite having access to all starting points (although as I'll probably have more than one captain, it is probable I try the explorer start point).
The Hornet is better compared to the Eagle, which hasn't been introduced into E:D's alpha yet. Even then, the Eagle might be ever closer to the 350R. Right now we have the Sidewinder (which is more like the Aurora) and the Cobra (which is more like the Freelancer). Although this is all subjective, comparing a Hornet to the Cobra for "flight feel" is stretching things a bit.
Just so you know he's been the biggest anti Elite troll on the SC forums for at least six months. A little while back the moderators finally lost patience with him. I suspect he's either still banned or really watching his steps over there right now.
The eagle is actually a pretty big thing as well, bigger than the sidewinder if the comparison picture with big ben clock tower is to be believed. There isn't a flyable ship in ED that's as small as the hornet or aurora.
FD has expressed interest to allow to fly Federal Fighters in future - probably as part of military, because they don't have hyperdrive.

No one on the SC forums is even talking about Elite, why should they?
besides the only ban happy forum is this one, where insulting posters get a free ride, and critcism of game mechanics is considered "baiting", resulting in a ban. Got it all on record.

I don't see the point in being a fanboy really. If people are not allowed to criticize where criticism is deserved,just because you might hurt a someone,how would they be able to improve? Just because SC got some critic because of that PAX video,does'nt mean ED is perfect,and it does'nt mean that SC is bad,because it is'nt bad at all.

Indeed. The Sidewinder could possibly be compared to the Avenger but I think it's even bigger than that actually. Probably somewhere in between the Avenger and Freelancer in size.
The Hornet and Aurora are both single seat ships. Neither of them even has a has a built in cargo hold ( though the Aurora can carry a container and the civilian Hornet has a small cargo hold in place of the turret). So, yea, much smaller ships. The Federation/Imperial fighters are the only good comparisons.
I´m just anti-bad campaign, and anti-content paywall, just as I still think their grouping system will blow. That´s about it.
