Scan & Ram

lost my courier to a brain dead npc security right outside a station
The same happend to me yesterday as well. Flying to the station with boost, hearing a ship for a second, kaboom, the other ship exploded and I was attacked by the station, so I did kaboom as well.
Never understood why the npc needs to come that close for scanning my ship that I could see the pilot.

Seems "they" learned and adopted players' tactics.....seems like a progress to me. On the other side being rammed when leaving station is really not welcomed and very annoying.

You have tried slowing to zero, yes or taking avoiding actions?

While the NPC is scanning you, you KW scan the NPC and line up the PAs. As soon as your scan is finished let loose.
I've not had any problems with pirate ramming since waaaaay back in PB1.

The other alternative is to fly a tanked ship and breeze through them without a care in the world.

What do I know though? I've spent the last 4 hours in a RES in Hel and finally quit out due to boredom and inability to focus on the screen.

Memo to self: Stop drinking and flying/fighting. It'll only end in tears. :D

That makes no sense in relation to the OP.

Oh, yes they do.

Yes they do. all the time. Outside stations, Scan Detec.. BANG

This... scan-raming is frustrating.
you can hear them hitting the boost and BANG

Truly hope that they will fix that soon.
Lol, looks like the sys-sec ace pilots all suicided by ramming stations, now the rookies are sent in. :D
"Wow, a CMDR! Have to scan 'em, in the academy I was told that they often smuggle. Dang, this scan is slow, let's see... yeah, Boost must make it quicker. YYEEEHAAWW!!!* <splat>

Yep, its been happening to me too. Thankfully i'm in a Python most of the time and they usually bounce right off. Though i can see it being a real problem if you are in a smaller ship.

I've made a bug report ticket thingy. I've got lots of credits tied up in my Vulture. Can't afford all the unnecessary repairs. Ok if i start a fight but getting bashed around for nothing is stupid.

that's why I set up shop there several months ago, it's nice and quiet and normally there isn't any pirates or players there. Frankly, I think we need more people on the snowglobes part as it's not even at tier 1 yet and we only have 4 more days on it.

to be completely honest I just want this damn CG over with so all these people will get the hell out of my system >_>

Ice Pirates do indeed exist in ED. They scanned me, tried to ram me and then took off. Yeah, how about them Apples?

The new NPC ramming is as stupid as was the old "copy Player ship movement" (I often used this hilarious choreography to smash them into asteroids, so funny...and sad)

Oh, and it would also be nice to have some phrases like "Thanks, you saved my ass" from NPC miners who were about to be blown to pieces and where saved by busy RES grinding players

the only thing that's better than that is when you see a pirate attack a type-9 and you see him get absolutely wrecked.

some miners don't mess around. :D

Just spent an hour at a RES. Didn't get rammed once. I thought "ooh they fixed it". Came back to the station, cashed in my bounties. After leaving the station i stopped to look at the galaxy map, 8km away from the station, BANG!, security ship smacks me up the jacksy while scanning me. Great.

This happened to me today at a nav beacon. I'd been bounty hunting and checking what bounties I'd collect when I was scanned, and then collided with. It must have been a small ship because it got destroyed, I was set to wanted with a 6k bounty for murder and all of the system security ships started attacking me. I jumped out of the system ok, but it was pretty annoying.

I don't know if it's the same for you guys, but for me, they only charge at me when I've got a panel up, like the contacts panel. I figured out that if I slow right down before bringing up the panel, they whizz past, but don't hit me.

Its like the ships are going too fast or getting too close to avoid the collision. A Security Eagle hit me face on yesterday, but I'm sure it pitched up at the last second like it tried to avoid me.

Actually thats interesting. I was looking at the NAV panel earlier when the ship hit me. I'm gonna experiment with that.
