Talking about those that are already gone then...

Terra Nova.....What the hell was wrong with that...I thought it was on its way to be another stargate / Avatar...destined to be round a while.

"V" had a slow start i thought but really started to get good.....then at its best...Axed.

I refuse to belive ratings were that low on these programs...it just seems to be down to better ideas or almost boredom by the networks....
Yet they repeat movie after movie all the time ?

Terra Forma litteraly jumped the shark with the T-rex nonsense at the end of the season.. It was excellent up to that aweful finale

I recomend Continuum if you havent tried it out, very good story.. and some nice takes on time travel... too flashbacky...

V i just got into it...then the AXE fell :(

Did anyone watch 'defying gravity' and the glowing slugs of implausibility?

I was quite enjoying it until it got axed. It must've been one of those shows that Psyko was watching. Why on earth they spend all that money on a series and then axe them before characters have time to develop is completely beyond me.

I'd like to meet one of these Fox executives. It would be interesting to see how someone with such a short attention span manages to cope with everyday life.

Defiance is nothing new, its kinda firefly mixed with Terra Nova... mostly terra nova.. Still its better than Striclty come Dancing.. and i like some of the make up..

It gonna turn to pish and will not get a 2nd series.. (that should keep it going a wee while)..

my brother is of the stern opinion of any series being axed is if I start to watch it. He tells me, 'please dont watch this one, I really like it..' Shows i have the blame for being axed are as follows.

Chuck

Chuck ran for 5 years. It got a full and decent run. That's 4 years more than most shows. I prefer to think that it finished than got cancelled.

I think it's closer to B5, where Defiance is the last best hope for peace for humans and aliens just on a much smaller scale. The (potential) ancient evil is already poking it's head out.

What was wrong with Terra Nova? Where to start? That "Spider Song" - shudder. Plot and character stupid galore. Teens having stills and booze parties in an environment where the animals WILL kill you, military forces with no apparent military training. The "Star Trek" disease/monster/issue of the week that conveniently gets solved by pseudo-science in 40 mins. It was utter drivel. It had great potential and squandered all of it. That's the most maddening thing, it could really have been a great show!

It's just business. They make money off advertising. The money they charge is based on the rating for the show. If new episodes of a new show rate less than repeats of an old show they lose money. They have to protect their income at all costs.

I agree. Watched about 3 episodes then just found better things to do with my time, like hoover the house!

Based on comments in this thread (didn't know that there was a second Judge Dredd film) I found and bought a copy of Dredd last night and watched it.

I enjoyed it, although the city didn't look at all like I remember from the comics.

It was gritty and dirty and squalid, with just enough comic like pieces of dark humour to keep the connection to 2000 AD. (I'm thinking of when the blast doors come down).

you got suckered in by the deep analysis didnt you, you though OOH must be a deep and interesting movie... NO its was flipping Judge Dredd with a little bit better actings, and better actions but still missing that something to make it full of humour..

I think the problem is the deep reluctance to be able to get the FEEL of many judges known for each particular 'attitude' both movies lean on Dredd alone..

It needs the multiple judge aspect, with criminal gangs surrendering because Dredd just turned up.. thats what I feel is missing.

I liked both films.. 2nd more than 1st.. I just want a little more..

I liked Stallone as Dredd ... he looked like Dredd should (until he took off his helmet).
Karl Urban, to me, doesn't look like Dredd ... he doesn't have the chin for it.

did you spot the comic story references in the graphiti? I saw at least 2, Chopper & Kenny Who?

yea but he kept the helmet on ;) Stallone's version didn't do anything for me, too much of a mishmash of stories, Rico's return from Titan, ABC Warriors, Angel Gang from the Judge child quest, it's like they threw the whole series of JD graphic novels in a blender and scooped out whatever floated to the top - An ABC Warriors must of been in the wrong pile, how else do you explain Hammerstein going from Nemesis the warlock to Mega-city one?. I kept expecting Johnny Alpha to walk in out of the Cursed earth. Pah! Hardware was better - and they only needed 3 pages of the comic to plot that story out.

Cass had no Sass, Dredd was just Dead. the grit from the comics was good but what didn't carry over to the big screen was the humour, Dredd can be a funny guy at times and he comes across as a bit uptight - still the better movie of the two imo. Cassandra Anderson, A judge with Attitude and a lot of sass, saw a little bit in the film but not much.

on the whole i'm with you, no 'holy grud its Dredd!' reaction from the bad guys And the bad Judges? that's not the Dredd we know.

Ew ew ew... wash out yer gob! Do not mention Firefly and. Terra Nova in the same sentence! :p Firefly was awesome, Terra Nova was bearable but mostly fairly poor. Character/dialogue/acting/plot/CGI for Defiance is much closer to Terra Nova. Not that Firefly had particularly impressive CGI, but it did have the rest in spades!

OK let me clarify... we have old war hero and partner (or daughter), on selfish smugling run... end up in situation where they have to step up.

Thats FIREFLY!!! :D ANd it WAS Fricking AWESOME... I miss it.. EVEN with its single episode stories... they were AMAZING.. The MAn they called Jane song had me in stitches... one of the best little touches in TV series.. I am now a huge Nathan Fillion fan further cemented by Dr Horribles Sing Along Blog (Awesome musical)...

Terra nova, is merely the setting idea... big planet yet only really one important city... too small a setting...

I hope that supports the use of these series together...

Equally Terra Nova = contiuum sorry Continuum = terranvoa + terminator so its kind of Terranovinator

Enjoyed Defiance but getting a little uncomfortable getting into these now :(

Also loved the new "V" axed
Also loved "Terra Nova" axed etc

To many coming and going...If the ratings are poor they just try something else...

Is that it for falling skies ...or walking dead as well ?

Loved the new V, such a shame.

Also that one.... errm flashback? i think... oh no flashforward..... that was it. got 1/2 way through the series. Stopped for serveral weeks for something and never came back.

and saying that I've just looked it up, and they're onto season 2.... must of been one helluva break between episodes.
