Minti2

Deadly, But very fluffy...
Has anyone seen World War Z yet, how much from the book made it into the final movie?

psykokow has today, said not amazing but very good!

and from what i gather its not like the book, but am still gonna see it(big zombie fan anyway!)

Im reading the book ATM (about 2/3 through it) and though I guess not much from the book is in it, I'm thinking that I will enjoy the movie more as I know much more of the back story, I hear that they didn't include the battle at Yonkers. real shame as that sounded like a total meat grinder.

Hope your enjoying the book, i can recommend plenty more if your Zombie inclined at any time. There are plenty of trash ones out there, but alot of thoughtful and tense ones to.

and as for Yonkers, i didnt expect it would be, shame as that would be a visual feast! but again still gonna go watch, hopefully next week.

Almost Human Trailer. looks like a interesting scifi buddy movie.

It sounds on the face of it like the movie "I Robot". A partially bionic police officer who hates androids is teamed with an android designed to be more human in its thoughts. Hopefully they've got a plan to distinguish it from comparison.

thought at first you was talking aout "being human" (awesome tv show) which would have been awesome - however that trailer does look quite good :)

I think karl urban has played some good part. I thought his Dredd was pretty good. and he has Dr Mcoy down to perfection, looks like his carreer took of after lord of the rings.

Hmm that doesn't look too bad and might be worth a view, but speaking of buddy Sci Fi movies anyone remember Enemy Mine with Dennis Quaid?

Still think Ron Perlman would make a better Dredd.

Karl Urban career was pretty good before LotR.

Ron Perlman has the fave for Dredd ill give you that,

an old favorite of mine that visualy hasnt dated well. very much an 80s movie but still good.

the only film that i can think of that visualy hasnt dated is ALIEN, Blade runner is another that visualy hasnt dated either.

To some degree the original Star Wars has done pretty well over time, though watching it with the new CGI scenes highlights that the CGI is pretty sloppy in comparison to the sets and models they used. Just goes to show if you leave it alone and refrain from slapping CGI on everything the old movie still seems pretty good.

Others that seem to have done alright are:

2001 a Space oddity... errr Odyssey and it's sequel 2010
Empire and Return of the Jedi are pretty good still WITHOUT the CGI.
The original Stargate movie still looks pretty decent
Alien and Aliens
Blade Runner

Things that are ok but look a bit dated:

The Black Hole
Tron
Enemy Mine

Those that are struggling:

The last starfighter
Battle beyond the stars
The Original Battlestar Galactica movies

Can you guys think of others?

I think the Bluray version of the Original Star wars is amazing, really clean and because of that still looks fresh.

Star trek the motion picture is pretty dated as the fashion for the uniforms is very 70s

Terminator is a difficult one to say if its dated or not as the T1000 travelled back to the 80s anyway so you could say that one hasnt dated (im confused)

Brazil, is one that hasnt dated, i always saw that movie as what the world would be like today if the na zis had won ww2.

The Terminator films are set in the years in which they're made, so they will always struggle to look dated. There's hardly a whole scene set in the dystopian future from which the machines are sent back. (I have a very soft spot for the first two films.)

edit: do you mean T100? I thought the T1000 was one one set back to the 90s (making the most of the newish morphing cgi).

The Arnie ones in the first two films were T800, Cyberdyne Systems model 101. The polymimetic alloy Terminator from the second film was a T1000. The Arnie one in the third film was a T850, though it stated it was a T101 for no sensibly explained reason. The consensus seems to be that the T number indicates the hardware revision, while the model number indicates the outer shell's physical template (101 looking like an Austrian bodybuilder).
