Scrap or redesign shield cell modules, they are too overpowered and trivialize PvP.

yep one salvo of rails from my asp and your shields are toast an probably some hull damage. always fun to do to wannabe pirates. why becouse im smart enough to setup to kill dumb players not kill npcs all day.

Funny. Despite my two shield cells and double chaff, I just got killed. Because the other player knew what he was doing. He had fixed heavy weapons and had my shields down so fast and my thrusters destroyed so quick shield cells were useless.

That's how you deal with shield cells. By being good, not by complaining.

Shield cells don't 'buff' shields, they partially recharge them provided they are not down.

That's just how it goes. Game comes out players notice something effective. A small number of them figure out how to counter it while the rest scream op. I'm not saying there is no balance issue just that it is no where near what some people are making it out to be. I don't mind which way it goes nerf, removed or if they stayed the same. FD will just balance the game in another way until the process starts again.

It's about how cells stop people from 'winning' easily. Cells are only over-powered to people who don't seem willing or able to learn how to fight properly.

Shield cells only close the skill gap. A crappy thing to have in a sim.

They are horrible. Just look what happened to, well, all the combat!
This has already been discussed. Should we discuss it again?

I don't directly care about winning. I already have real life to care about that in and I'm not going to do it here either, but no matter if I win, loose or end up doing something else in an encounter, I would like if the tools employed in that enoer would not suck as horribly as the SCB's do right now.

And in what ship were you in? To say that a module that can take shields from 1% to 100% in a matter of seconds is not a massive buff is factually wrong, especially when you can do that more than 30 times on most ships. Sounds like you were asleep at the wheel and didn't activate your potions soon enough.

One anecdote does not dismantle the tide of weariness and resentment. It just doesn't.

sorry but no trader ships and cobras have paper thin shields and easily taken down if they stayed in the fight they would quickly burn there supply of boost. also if your loadout didn't suck they don't bring collapsed shiled back.

but enough this is clearly a wine thred due to lack of skill.

I think shields should get a buff. But traders shouldn't have an immunity button. They should be low-hanging fruit. It should have risks.

No, this is how it goes:

A feature arrives, and either it works well or it doesn't. At least someone (because this is the internet) will think that it is fine and everyone who complain are whining complaining noobscrubs, and at least someone will think that the feature is completely horrible and will ruin everything and everyone and clearly the ones using it are ganking minmaxing exploiters.

After that, hopefully, a discussion takes place where people attack the percieved problem instead of eachother. The people actually working with the game take notes, do their own analysis of the situation, and do what they find necessary. The problem is solved, and the game is (hopefully) improved.

But you agree with the previous discussions, around anectodes, analysis, and videos of combat that highlighted the problems of SCB's?
You also find them to be useless?

So you support the complete removal of them?
 
nope i have no problem with them because theirs a easy counter. 1 shot rails shield down second shot ship gone. but most pirates fit cheaply to harass traders then cry when they have a counter to the ganking. fyi i dont attack traders with my rail asp its defense only and most are smart enough to see my fit and avoid.

there a counter to cheap fit pirate i have no issue with it. if they relly wanna kill a trader its easy enough to fit guns big to counter a scb.

If that was a reply to me it makes no sense. It's still couched in totally subjective terms and means precisely zilch to any other player. I apologize for being blunt here, but unless you can give me a reason *that means something to me* why the game *I* am playing should be changed to suit you, you're only beating your head against the wall until you get tired of the squishy sound. It's quite possible that you may have such an argument, I look forward to hearing it.

So, with the discussions and videos earlier that summarized how SCB's currently negatively affected combat, you do agree that SCB's need to be removed or reworked?
If not, what are your thoughts on those videos, those discussions?
