Seems Elite Dangerous will be continued!

Just needs a bit of tweaking on the guy's face ...

Franchise synergy!

I think it is relevant though - no point in looking at things through rose-tinted glasses from one part of a sentence, the fact is that announcement was followed by the share price dropping even further from it's miserable £2-ish to under £1.50 at one point. FDEV is having issues, there is no doubt, "organisation review" etc - doesn't mean the company is in danger and doesn't detract from future Elite support, just the market is yet to be convinced and from what I have read the change in Chair is not what people had been hoping for.
And what was there in the report that ought to assure investors?

Players however probably should take Frontier's statement about Elite in a positive light. Meaning that right now their intention is to continue developing Elite. Of course that could mean investing in the game, or maybe just a low cost/level effort. It could also change in the future and the game being closed down. Still IMO positive news for ED players indicating that Frontier has the intention to continue developing the game, something they IMO ought to state more frequently.

Sorry doom posters/toobers, it's not for now but rather at some future point that your hour of glory will come.

Aren't share prices only of interest to speculators, rather than affecting the day-to-day running of a company?
Stock Market performance might only be relevant if the company attempted to raise a loan against the company value, isn't it?
Players of FD games have no control over share performance, so why worry about trading - usual story, if the company collapsed for whatever reason we couldn't play their online game(s) any longer, end of story.

Remember - some believe they are shareholders because they bought the game - gotta protect their investment.

Customers are "stakeholders" - particularly so when the product depends on the state of the company.

It just tickles me that players think that share prices have a place on a game forum, when it isn't a stock market simulation game 🤷‍♂️

It tickles me that people seek to belittle others for putting forward information.

Don't want to spoil anyone's day but that announcement didn't help the share price today:

Because the announcements were bad news. It is just that some here (not you, mind) struggle with corp-speak. :) What they basically say is this:
1) Our latest game has been a massive flop (160 people playing right now as of writing!)
2) This is the last in a string of new games that flopped
3) The only path forward is to return making the few games that consistently did well
4) We'll also continue to provide some support/development in some of our older games

Ever since EDO their strategy of releasing as many bare-bones, shallow, clunky and overall not-very-much-fun products as quickly as possible, with as little support as possible, has predictably been absolutely terrible for the company. And their statement to investors basically reads:"All our investments failed, our entire strategy has been a complete disaster , but we'll go back to doing sensible things soon pinky swear!".

That, dear cmdrs, is bad news.

I will bet to "just a low cost/level effort" until FDev announces "REAL" road map of ED.

I agree that it's relevant, though it would also do well to be kept in context with the rest of the video game sector that's not been doing great since the headys of lockdown which created a massive and unsustainable demand for games that is now only getting corrected in the markets.

Or you could just see the glass as half-full :)

The most surprising thing in this Business Update for me is the metamorphosis of JWE 2 into an alleged cash cow. Didn't really expect that after the profit warning last year.

O7,
