Seems Very Quiet Around Here

Welcome back ! There's still plenty to do just flying around in the galaxy exploring.
My current health and work situation gives me little time even to play other games, I never felt that ED was the kind of game to play if you only have 30 minutes to an hour to play a day. I'm looking at a less stressful job opportunity telecommuting with better hours. Hopefully I'll have a lot more time to devote to playing this and other games.

Well, alongside my 1 hour weekly ELITE’ing I decided to finally get round to investigating these Guardians and I’m having a blast. Might extend the hour and dive back in tonight, love the creepy atmospheric music....

But this will not keep me entertained for long....

Have you visited the Thargoid sites too? If not, they are worth the journey too, very 'unearthly' and fascinating - will add a few more hours of being entranced within the game :)

I have visited a few of them, yes very awesome. Thanks for the post!

May check out the rest sometime early next year. I have never looked into AX scanning or combat, so could give that a try too.
I’m going to work on some of the guardian modules.

Having fun with these sentinels....

Make sure to visit a Guardian Beacon if you haven't already, at least once. While short lived in terms of actual gameplay, they're pretty cool to witness.

I could care less about fleet carriers, but I do care whether Frontier can keep schedules. Two massive delays on a relatively minor and useless sideshow item is a very very bad vibe to send out to people who were hoping that the "big 2020" update would arrive before 2030, and for a lot of people I know, waiting till 2020 was already a bridge too far. This company can't even add an in-game cosmetics store without blowing up the fragile base code and knocking out several core game elements. How in the world can the current team push out a functioning version of something as complex as space legs, atmospheres, or base building? Frankly, I just don't see it.
My hope is that the "code renewal" is the reason for FC being delayed this time around. They are probably trying to get it compatible with both old and new code basis.

If they release things slightly buggy there's a meltdown.
"Slightly"? Is it nowadays usual, that a patch to a game breaks "a lot of things"?

I had to press '4' twice to clear a mission soft lock and I avoided remote engineering for 24 hours by flying a G5'd ship.

Now obviously that sort of terrible gamebreaking hardship would have reduced a lot of the forum goers to a blubbering wreck, but I'm made of far sterner stuff and just soldiered on.

In the old days games just stayed broken, release and hotfix is much better (its also better than public beta's).

My only worry about the "code refresh" is if they can still make it work on current targets (PC/XBox1/PS4) or will they do a Mac and say "we've tried our best but X platform will have to be dropped so we can do y feature". If things start to get cut again when the game currently runs fine to a fashion for "next gen code" it will leave a bad taste in a lot of console players mouths.

To be fair the minimum specs on PC have changed since launch too, and may change again.

[smug] I'll be ok unless it requires a Cray [/smug]

But, I do see the concern - current generation consoles are pretty powerful, and with optimised code are impressive, sadly ED doesn't appear to be optimised for any particular platform in its current form and major expansion of capability on the current engine might mean 'less' for consoles (or a drop of 'last generation'). Sadly it is going to be "Wait & See" although everyone can hope that massive optimisation for all platforms is part of New Era.

Yeah, wait & see :/

If it's only the new DLC that requires an upgrade (bit like Horizons was for Mac, or 32bit/DX10 PCs at first) that's probably okay. If existing PS4/XBone players can no longer play that's going to smart a bit ;)

I agree the current game seems a bit wasteful on resources but hopefully that'll be captured in the next 12 months of bug fixes :)

I’m not sure the console CMDRs can claim any rights to the future of ED,if the hardware can’t handle it there’s nothing FD can do.
Console owners are pretty used to rebuying their favourite games for the latest console.

I'm only chuckling as my PC broke down big time a couple of months ago resulting in new motherboard, PSU, memory and GPU (the CPU survived, I don't know how!) so it was 'updated' to current 'high spec' gaming standards. I'll admit I wasn't amused at the time!

At least ED's code isn't as terrible as, say, Fallout 4VR or NMS VR, but it does have 'room for improvement'.

Yeah I dip in and out of ED - it's always fun to spend a few hours exploring.

But just get the new Jedi Fallen Order - which is fun..... the in cockpit view of the ship when it takes off is what ED need to be aiming for with atmos landings.
