Switching to SOLO works, yes.

Blocking someone in the other hand doesn't. Blocking only affects comms, not matchmaking.
 
Limiting the bounty value is a good temporary countermeasure against exploiting credit farmers. But only good for that.

There is such a thing as throwing the baby out with the bath water. In the end this solution is punishing the normal players more than the exploiters.

Except this is not true. Do you know, how many players you have to murder, to acquire even just 1 million Cr bounty? Around 160. Nobody gains multi-million bounties by killing players. They are acquired by being scanned with forbidden cargo and letting the fines expire. That's why aren't even useful as an "honor batch", because everybody could easily acquire them, without pirating or killing a single player.

Then why they didn't capped the fines instead of the bounties ?

That is correct. To put the limit into perspective only 64 players had a bounty of more then 1 million credits this morning.

This is good news, and a start. But the 'crime update' still is much needed and will fix the situation almost permanently, I hope is not delayed and is released even before 1.3.

Also... when I saw server update I was hoping for a 'the queue bug has been fixed'... because it came back, it hasn't been a week and states are not spawning/getting stuck. People is leaving the game because the is broken 75% of the time, there have been thousands of game hours wasted in fruitless efforts.

Those figures are not made up or an exageration, are just from our own group (>700 registered players and around 120 active players, but people is leaving all the time). There are many groups trying similar things and with people getting frustrated too. People only has so much patience (the game has been released for 5 months and the mechanics haven't work straight for a period longer than two weeks ever, that's a poor record).

Sorry but this is very frustrating (some of us been supporting since alpha/beta), we are trying to play the sandbox and like the game, but there is a part of the game that is completely dysfunctional and broken. I just hope news this week are good, otherwise people is just losing hope. Same bugs over and over, reported a thousand times. Please fix it or just have someone check daily to unstuck the queue, anything is better than nothing.

At this point, the BackSim players are hoping that the 1.3 overhaul will fix these issues. If not, we keep playing and hoping for the BackSim to get repaired. I agree though. The frustration level related to these bugs, is rising, with the expected problems for the game and its player base.


I am curious as to the effect of the new Justice system will have on some of the techniques people use to effect changes on the BackSim. This set of current changes is needed, but might exacerbate some of the issues that the current Justice system has. Time will tell. To the developers, thanks for your continuing work and know that your efforts are appreciated!

This patch is to combat the gold sellers, not the PK's.

Also, when you farm NPC for bounties, what's the largest bounty you've seen? Personally the largest I've seen is about 150000-200000. Having a max of 1Mil (per faction) on a PC makes sense. Now you have to farm PC's too to make a decent living as a BH. When 1.3 comes in and bounties will become persistent, this will become easier for the BH too. You may even see more PC's with multi million bounties in game:

With persistent bounties, the number of "millionaire" criminals will increase. A lot of people where cleaning them off too easily.

What about the tactical packs teased 3 weeks ago ?
What will you do against the bounties exploiters (I've seen some guyz with more than 30 billions...) ? Now you know how to prevent it, but you can't obviously let those guys go with it !

Are "Federation, Empire and Alliance" Bounties also capped at 1 million credits?

my understanding is no, just harder to farm as once you hit 1m in a fed system, you need to move to another controlled by a different minor fed faction and farm up to 1m. rinse and repeat. going to give it a try tonight.

I'm quite disrupted about how it gonna work... If you get fined for more than a million, you just have to wait 24h then pay your bounty decreased from *************(Billions) Cr to 1 MCr ?

Hell, this Commander even admitted to using and abusing this and made a contest out of it.

Edit: It is pretty apparent what these players are attempting to achieve illegitimately. If these players were to be investigated and/or punished, I'd recommend looking into who also claimed those bounties. I'm 95% confident they were likely associates of them!

... as a betabacker for me is strange see a game that on release have nothings on inside.
lack of content (not like planetary landing or walk around the station... i know that all that will be implementend after in paid expansion and it is ok) I mean game mechanics lack of difference from Empire and Federation and alliance... unfinished mining mechanics, exploration mechanics, PVP motivation... it' s not a game... for now it is only a nice selfie maker of fantastic view of your ship and universe.
not the game for what i have paid and test in beta... why the final release aka commercial release was rushed? MONEY MONEY my noble Sir. ... i can wait 2-3 years of development for have a nice and complete game called "elite: dangerous"... but i can not play for 2-3years at "elite: fake release 15% done" and hope that frontier finish the game one day.

I wish that FD Separates Open from Group/Solo, or at least restricted by a way.
For Example to pay a fee e.g. 5% of all your assets (not the current ones) every time you switch modes and a cmdr with a bounty locked in the mode he/she got it until the cmdr pays it...
Also ship destruction don't erase your bounty... Bounties on your head must be erased when you pay them or when you have 100crs and a sidewinder...

Well, tbh (and a little off topic) those bounty board things are not very reliable, but I have no issues with attaching bounties to ships, or to modes, I have no problems with most of the ideas out. Its just that everyone always wants to go full nuclear and bring up separating modes. They have said it multiple times, they will never separate the modes, and in this situation, it wont make a difference for the exploiters. What can be done in a group can be done in open, in a group. Maybe not as secure, but it would still be easy. They just have to stay on the move.
Again, I need to say I have absolutely no problem with something like limiting bounties to the mode/ship they were generated in. But I want the ability to switch between modes when I want. Not because Im hiding, but because I dont always want contact with other players.

My main point is that why should all commanders be penalized because a few people exploit or "hide" their bounties in solo...why should a mode be separated for that? If FDev separates the modes, it should be because they want to do it of their own volition, not because on small mechanic (that has a big effect in its own way) forces the split of modes - Anyways - this is all off topic

I believe this was a step in the right direction - Like they said, they could increase the cap past the 1 million, which I think they will eventually do. But with everything going on, this was a good way to stop or slow down the majority of the exploiters for now. Itll take alot more time and effort for them to come up with, select, and then implement a mechanic/idea to combat the whole situation

Quite. That guy (naming no names) has done multiple very naughty things in the past, as we all know. Yet it appears that he has had no more than a couple of smack-on-the-wrist banlets.
