Distant Worlds II Event Servers offline after the first jump of Distant Worlds 2. Come on Frontier!

amazing build up, spent two weeks preparing. huge excitement at the synchronised launch...

then nothing, as the servers crashed.

absolutely pathetic. The Elite Dangerous event of the year... ruined.

i've half of a mind to say that nothing fdev could have done could've pervented this. We're talking about THOUSANDS of people jumping at the same time. No server survives that kind of stress test, its pretty much equal to a DDOS attack.
And honestly? Im amused, its not every day people can coordinate to that point.

Maybe it because the servers are not meant for a huge amount of people jumping from one location all at the same time. Blaming the Developer for your own Exodus. LoL....

Y'all aren't the only ones being inconvenienced by this... here I am, on the opposite edge of the galaxy where my last jump just went for 4 minutes before dropping me into a system then very unceremoniously disconnecting me. Guess I'll have to do something else for a while....

For all those DW2 pilots stuck in Witchspace

Hello Witchspace my old friend
I've come to fly through you again
While other CMDRs are sweeping
50 light years maybe more leaping
And the destination that was programmed in my Frame
Still remains
Within the sound of Witchspace

By CMDRs Simon And Garfunkel

Lets see if I can do one.

Discord Thread very pretty and its text is very sweet.
But the threads of the poor discord are impossible to read.

Frontier needs more server hamsters.

RIP server.
To be fair, I don't think that kind of server strain is easy to handle.
Good luck with the fxing! And thanks for working on a Sunday. :)

To be fair myself, I cant name any other game that is so reliably unreliable. Its why I decided not to be part of the launch event, why I planned to let the first few hours of Gnosis skip, why I zoned-out of the Thargoid story line for a looong time etc. This isn't an isolated event; ED reliably craps out when 'important' stuff happens. And while this doesnt effect me, DWE2 folks (and every other paying customer who is out of a planned evening) has every right to be upset.

I hoped not to see another big fail after Gnosis launch.

Holy shot here we go again...

Then can you at least send a message in the game before messing with it as folk are trying to play the game. Too much pressure on the servers and not enough bandwidth allocation since the upgrade. This has been happening a few times now since this last upgrade and just before it was launched. Please please please look at the servers and lines to accommodate for increased traffic with DW2 and larger game files so we can at least play a stable game. thanks.

If you are renting tier based servers for this game, upgrade to a higher tier so its more stable and can accommodate the players.
if you are hosting your own servers, upgrade the tech, it is needed the higher this game is developed.
if you are using T3 lines upgrade to T1 lines for increased bandwidth

Please please please get this god dam game stable so we can all enjoy it and keep players in the loop during fixes so we all know whats going on.
