She's a beauty! (New ship revealed--Mandalay)

I took my Courier to Colonia and back right before the battle in HIP 22460, doing exobiology on the way. The lack of downward visibility was not a problem for me--I just ended up flying with nose-down attitude like this:
Yeah, I just didn't make it with the intention for any particular long-range treks (as opposed to "You can't"... which is rarely a ship problem and more just player mentality). If I ever hop on the carrier exploration train, though, I might happily take it out more because it made finding those tricky landing spots around the shrooms so much easier.

Assuming I don't get hooked on this new toy. At least I have another month (at minimum) to decide whether I will throw money at the thing or wait for it to become available for credits.

Looking forward to more information about this ship. I already have two ZP explorers: a Hauler, which I find a fantastic exobiology ship, and a Mamba. Why the Mamba? Just because, I was inspired by a thread on this forum and tried it. It's a beautiful ship, however in terms of exploration it is basically a glorified Hauler, with the complication that it offers a miserable landing experience, comparable to that of the Phantom and other ships of that size.

I don't think the cockpit of the Mamba is the best for exploration (or rather, for exobiology), since it's only looking up. Nothing beats Lakon (or even the Kraits) for field of view.
On the other hand, I find the cockpit of the Mamba (and therefore that of the Mandalay, I guess) to be one of the best, if not the best looking one.

The one thing that gives me hope, however, is that it appears to have a very small landing footprint, as the ship's volume appears to be distributed vertically (they pointed out in the stream how tall it is - but still not as tall a the T7 🤭).

I hope it has internals comparable to an AspX (and not to a Mamba). Jump range would be the icing, but it's not what I look for as the primary feature.

I really like the Mamba cockpit. Visibility downwards is not as good as with Lakon ships or the kraits, but the overall visibility is stunning.

The view from the Mamba cockpit is decent though the jump range leaves a lot top be desired, definitely one for carrier support.
Does make some decent screenies though...

I do that with my Hauler which, allegedly, has a slit instead of a window.
The "problem" I have with the Mamba (which is not really a problem, more like poor QoL) is that the cockpit is behind those two prongs, so the visibility is a bit limited on the front, and it feels like I am being held back.
I like being at the very front, in an exploration ship (that's why I don't like the Aaconda, aside from finding it visually unpleasant), and the Mandalay seems to have the correct design, under that point of view.

Courier sure can fit into odd spots:

It looks like Mandalay could be better at finding a landing spot than Phantom, though these wings worry me a bit.

Isn't Mamba the ship with the worst jumprange of all, even worse than 'Vette? Even then it can do 44...45 ly, which is not too far off from Courier (when you include the SRV hangar on one), and more than a fully weight-weenied 'Conda before engineering.
Feeling a vibe with this…. Guardians of the Dangerous Firefly, Ashoka.
Add Razor Crest from The Mandalorian to the list, too🙃

One thing to have such system from start like Star Citizen, one to introduce it later on.

(If it has been from the start I would never have paid a cent for this game, I actively hate those kind of games.)
You can exercise choice, exactly the same as every other player...

And yes, I have Scam Citizen also, yet never paid any more for it than any other single game purchase, saying "NO" to spending is easy, if one isn't interested in the product, isn't it?

One thing to have something from start, one thing to devolve to that state. Latter thing leaves bad taste.
