When I'm supercruising, whenever I press to the left on the right analogue stick (I'm using an Xbox controller), the ship enters DSS mode. Anyone else experienced anything like this? Anyone any idea how to fix it? Currently I have to just fly in combat mode to prevent it happening, but I get constant errors saying "incorrect cockpit mode" because it keeps trying to enter DSS whenever I push to the left on the right stick.

Check your binds? 
I did, I couldn't see anything. I don't even think there is a bind to enter DSS, and even if there were, I can't imagine it could be assigned to a single direction on an analogue stick.Check your binds?
Must just be a problem with the controller somehow.
so test the controller in windows via devices and printers if it works there ok its gona be a binding error
you will find the binding using the mouse to navigate to the sub menu under detailed surface scanner
else you may have poorly set in ship fire groups if you get incorrect cockpit mode message so check there and fss bindings also
