Ships’ 3D model extracting

Greetings CMDRs! I guess we all have seen those beautiful printable 3d models on the internet. I extremely wanted to print the Mandalay, but I have found nothing at all. Is it possible to extract Mandalay’s 3d model with ninja ripper for example? I’ve heard it’s impossible to extract 3d models since the Odyssey released. But there must be some way to do that. I want have my Mandalay printed, so I totally need that 3d model. Can someone explain me how to do this or even do this for me? For non commercial purposes, of course. No piracy, we do respect the developers.

if anyone know how to make it works with odyssey or actual build.... bottle in the sea <3

I know one of the ways to get a ‘scan’ for a 3D model is photogrammetry, taking lots of photos of the object from all sides.
Could you use the camera to produce and save photos of the ship and feed them into some photogrammetry software or even get one of these graphics AIs to do it?

It's a possibility, but dont think we can obtain a decent result with screen capture photogrammetry :(

Found this on reddit :
I spent about 5 hours on this a few months ago. I was using a 4k display for high res screenshots and I tried Rocket League and Assassin's Creed Syndicate because they had modes where I could stop time for replays and get almost any angle I wanted.

The results were pretty bad. And the general reasoning seems to be two-fold:

First, how engine rendering generates small imperfections/pixelated edges that slightly shift and change from tick to tick and angle to angle. These are so small they're highly ignorable during moving gameplay, but they're more than noticeable by photogrammetry software that is looking for hard corners from frame to frame, so they lock on to these rendered edge pixels, but each frame slightly moves them, causing ebbed models.

Second are the materials and lighting edges that make games look beautiful are often a little extra shiny. Which is obv problematic for normal photogrammetry.

I also tried using OBS to capture at one point, but without running it through a secondary capture computer, the footage was a blurry mess.

Give it a go and let me know which games you try. I'm hoping you find success where I didn't.
May be in front of this kind of planet xD

I posted a suggestion then realized it was just a brainfart, but I can't find a delete-message button, so you're stuck with this disappointment of an edit, sorry :)

There is no delete message button to find.

To do anything more effective than what you did you would have to use the report button and ask a moderator to remove your post.
