Woot! Instant Ship Transfer.
Love it.
Means I can concentrate on doing what I like best in this game.
FLYING SHIPS.
Not time-wasting logistics and transportation. Had enough of that in Eve Online thanks.
Theres so much Handwavium in the game already. What's one more little conveniance.

So, not having to fly your ship to where you want it to be is freeing you up to fly your ship?

Still sarcasm, I presume?

No sarcasm here. I enjoy flying my ships in the pursuit of something particular such as trading or exploration.
Flying ships to 'move' bases is an unnecessary chore. Especially having to invest in several taxi haulers if you want to move a few ships.
My immersion isn't ruined because of the aforementioned Handwavium already in the game. Instant rebuy anyone? Complete with custom modded components too.
The joy, the pleasure, is in flying my ships. Not logistics. I stopped playing Eve Online because of that.
When I stop enjoying the actual flying. I'll stop playing. Because after all, despite dodgy physics, Handwavium flight mechanics, and all the other duff, I just simply, like flying about.
And now I can get all my ships in one hanger and fly what I want, when I want, how I want.
And still, my immersion is intact, my RP and self narrative are sane and forward moving, and I have a whole collection of framed screenshots of my ships in action.

How about a cooldown of X hours after the 3D printing of 1 ship?

Give it time for the glue to set? :D

Not sure why people are calling it 3D printing though. Can't be, because the old ship would have to be destroyed. Not to mention those Engineer upgrades are meant to be unique and not reproducable.

Well, good for you then I guess? Apparently, the sense of enjoyment of many others - and the overall consistency and balance of the game - seam to be not as "durable" as your supsension of disbelieve, though.

Except when the insurance company replaces the unique modified modules at rebuy.... Too many holes, can't keep them all plugged at one time.

When will it surpass the Great Solo V Open Debate?

No chance. 2.2 will arrive before it can run that long. At that point, either it will be released with delay or without, either way, people will just accept it, or quit the game, uninstall, write hate mail to David Braben about FD have destroyed their life, before exploding with rage induced by broken immersion :D

How do you keep sane doing this job voluntarily?

Could we start with your avatar?

Uhh wha? You don't like monty python?

[Edit] oh I get it... Because he's "waving his hands"... *Groan*

Then it's got to be teleporting.

Nothing in your post means that you need INSTANT transfer.

How often do you move your base of operation?

Even with a delay moving ALL of your ships in parallel is going to be amazingly convenient compared to what you do now.

A 'rapid transfer' system rather than an 'instant transfer' system where perhaps a single ship can get there twice as fast a player controlled ship would still meet your needs.

In your case where you have multiple ships (5 or 6 more?) transferring all of them at the same time even with a delay will seem like an instant compared to what you are used to doing, but it will also keep everyone playing the game happy (well as happy as we ever are).

There's the fantastic voyage solution. Then we can all carry our ships around in our back pockets :p. Not being terribly serious here, but it would work as well as 3D printing.

Know I now the perfect solution - Shrinking Machine! We shrink all our ships to bobbelheads and take them everywhere with us and enlarge them when needed!
