Slave Carriers Update

Should have gone with a lore approach I think.
Something like :- The Pilots Federation fine them the amount they gained plus extra for damages caused.
Remove all ranks and access to any ships that need rank.
Stuff like that.

Would be funny if they now were in the red and owed the pilots fed billions :)
Loosing ships on rebuy because they cant pay the rebuy etc :)
Why?
Elite about blazing your own trail in a dangerous galaxy or should we now do away with that. It interesting that they dont fix the bugs, servers, and if this was against the rules then why dont we see some consistency and deal with these combat loggers.

Maybe they banned for other reason I don´t know, but I consider it excesive, specially having in mind there is people all days exploiting other game mechanics in their favour and FDEV does nothing

Isn't it interesting how the publisher gets VERY interested when "emergent gameplay" steps over into the realm of public relations (and by consequence - potential future profit for their game)

I mean, who could have seen such a thing coming? /s

I’m appalled at this decision from FDev, the games own description is ‘make your own way in a cutthroat galaxy’ what happened to that? This was one of the best pieces of emergent gameplay and player driven content in years and players were also driving solutions in the various rescue missions launched, if FDev felt the need to intervene (which I don’t think they did) then it should have been in game, dispatching a Pilot’s Federation mega ship carrier to rescue the players or similar. The punitive actions toward the plates involved if true are utterly wrong. Please rethink this.

I see "blazing your own trail" being used all the time as an excuse for breaking the rules set out by frontier.
Its not.

Lot's of great quotes, so will be a few posts, bear with me...

So, about "parenting rage":
You might want to explain that to the father of the 7yo and 10yo he left unsupervised with his game (for which I hope he is banned for account sharing) and with an open discord.

Spot on. But parents' rage knows no boundaries, especially if it is clearly their fault. Also, Elite is PEGI-7, apparently? So a 7yo and a 10yo are surely within the limits of PEGI-7? What is that I hear, online interactions are not rated? Where were the parents then? :p
Also, it's on XBox. Unlike PC commanders, they have unlimited number of open save slots from what I understand. So sadly no ban... Also nobody in his right mind would ban a family share, it would be a PR suicide.

Isn't EVERYTHING (outrage) this day and age?
Sadly.

The fuss over a minor playing, and having access to a discord channel that was unfit for children (or even rational adults, possibly?) is surely wholly down to unsupervised 'play', did the 'slavers' ask the age of every player they contacted to ensure they were minors?

In-game - yes, they 'exploited' players who were new - and apparently unable to search the internet - with a unique 'scam'... In a dystopian galaxy where slavery is an accepted profession and slaves are trade goods, how far from the 'spirit' of the game did these players go?

I'm neither criticising nor praising their actions, but there is so much in the 'outrage' shown (because minors were involved, but we really need proof that this was a targeted action rather than unintended) because of the amazingly emotive articles being quoted... The online 'news' sites must be rubbing their hands in glee whilst looking for their next 'outrage' to unveil and keep the clicks coming... "All that lovely advertising revenue"!

Spot on, but it's typical Polygon, they are the masters of showing deriere-hurt.

Is it normal to laugh out your kidneys?
I was saved from this ill fate by hearing other term before, but you might want to check if your stitches hold first :D
😂 crotch gremlins 😂

Also, let me tell you this one thing, because many of you probably play Elite and nothing else... You know what the most toxic, abusive, slur-swinging, cussing, bullying, "sexually" abusive, homophobic and absolutely failing at being human demographic is? But beware, revealing who those scums and villains are is not for the faint of heart...

Don't believe me? Try a competitive match in Overwatch or any similar fps and start losing. Join voice chat for bonus abuse points, both verbally and audibly by the sheer squeak frequency. Pick a sniper - that can even get you harrasment before match, so much so that Activlizard made career profiles private by default, because rug-rats were stats-shaming people before the match even started 😂

Do we have ANY REAL evidence that FD have done ANYTHING other than publish a Galnet article warning noobs against a potential scam.

I can't be ARX'd with trawling every social media site in the world, to read about ED......I only stick with this forum & I've seen ZERO evidence of what poster's say frontier have done, other than the Galnet post🤷‍♂️

The reasoning of the ban was a joke. "Player misdirection"... A few days back, I allowed our current bgs enemies to kill me while I was hauling their factions' tourists. Should I be banned for misdirecting them to a point, where they ultimately undermined their own efforts through their own actions?

Because there isn't much of a difference between taking people a few lys out, from which anyone can easily return (with or without carrier rescue ops), or undermine a factions influence through the enemies stupidity.

There are no rules about ingame slave camps, and there shouldn't be. Let criminals be criminals, until they start spewing racist bees. At that point, unleash the banhammer. Leave emergent gameplay alone.

OK I feel this is important before links start getting posted:
Please use https://web.archive.org/ to stop the clickbait. They prey on outrage and should be stopped :p

Here's the Polygon link using web archive:

It claims it has official Frontier response.

Oh, i thought that was well established decades before online gaming simply by watching the schoolyard bullies in action.

So far that's all hearsay, from a gaming publisher with it's own agenda......where's the EVIDENCE, showing that Frontier have acted other than that Galnet report?

Well there's a quote from FDev there. that says nothing about banning carrier owners .. only that only about 20 victim commanders were affected, FDev don't 'condone' (or support) the taking of slaves, will act if community guidelines are breached and that a warning article would appear in Galnet. For me that would seem to be enough action by FDev .. and falls quite a bit short of the OP to this thread.

Wow, that article really is utter garbage. Instead of mentioning any of the countless great things the Elite community has done, they cherry pick two incidents to paint everyone as sociopaths and spin the story however they like.

That "Update 2" 😂 Whoops, no big deal, right?

I too would like to see an official link to what FDev supposedly did here.

OP 'someone' asked you to post this. Feel free to get a copy of the communication from FDev to your 'friends' and scrub it, remove the To: and From: but not the subject line or date or body of the email so we can see it, or not, cause this could be total hot smelly rubbish.

It does appear that these bad bad players violated the ED Code of Conduct...

Ways to remove a FC from being used like this: NO more COMMODITIES storage on FC's, ships and modules only... that would fix this specific issue as well

Also add more to the new player training area, warning them of jerks, griefers, gankers, FC kidnappers, etc

Interesting, I did not know destroying a player ship with mission tourists on board adversely effected the BGS. (waits for Ian Doncaster to come along and confirm)
Also I said the ban was a bad idea and that ingame punishment would have been better.
My comment about the "blaze you own trail" was because it gets used for everything from exploiting to griefing. As if working outside the TOS was some sort of game play.

So what's the fuss about then?
If that's Frontier's ACTUAL public response - assuming that it wasn't taken out of context, which happens - then it's been addressed.

Agree a ban would be a bad idea .. just give the carriers involved an infinitely negative in-game reputation??? lol

(what does that metric do? I've not seen mine change even though I'm regularly scanned by security when docking). Some kind of in-game punishment would be better than a voice from above though imo. Vincent's trial is now over, the judges are twiddling their thumbs.

Reputationally I think better to let Hull Seals rescue those involved and write a load of articles about how the overwhelming majority of Commanders are decent chaps.
