So............have you died yet?

*waves her hand* Silly... I have a space Yugo now, Hauler, of course I have died.... I've got two speeds. Stop and Loitering

Haven't died yet. Have mostly been bounty hunting and doing missions. Closest call was an Elite Eagle NPC that broke theough my shields, but I escaped. Will probably die as soon as I get an expensive ship by boosting instead of retracting landing gear.

Havent died yet, but once it was really really close. I jumped to a star system i havent been to before, and as i got out i happened to notice that it was a binary system and i got out basically right on top of the second star, which catapulted me out of FSD, flipped me around like crazy a few times, heated me up like crazy and left me without orientation and a ship without shields taking heavy heatdamage, and no idea what would be the best direction to fly away to get away from the heat.
Burned my hull down to probably 30 percent until i was able to restart my FSD to get away from that little monster. i was in panic!

My first death involved me accidentaly boosting myself into a Gooch (station) while still learning all the keys. The second death involved me being murdered by station turrets because I forgot to ask for permission to dock which made me panic and consequently tangle myself in the railings outside the letterbox.... My last three deaths involved being ganked by three player "pirates".

I have not died since then but I have come close a few times.

Forgot the docking permission... and then 30 seconds later.. boom. They should increase it to at least a minute then i would not lose my shi and cargo

Twice. First time just mucking about in my sidewinder, second time playing with flight assist off in my Asp and forgot: I was very surprised when I rammed the station even though I had zeroed my throttle.

Died three times since the end of Alpha 4. Twice to super-cruise glitches (ending up inside objects when exiting), and once to thinking I could take an imperial clipper out when I was at 4% hull.

*Edit* Oh I tell a lie - 4 times - I forgot the drunken miss of the docking slot as well (I think I'd deleted that incident from my memory as a bit too embarrassing).

This might be perceived as a smart alec reply, lol, but.. I've never died and never will, I eject before the impending death of my ship, so, I'm immortal, but my ship ain't , having said that, since the official game launch, I've not lost a cobra yet. A few near misses and scrapes, however in beta and gamma, definitely lost a few, mostly through my own pilot error, usually when trying to dock..

died 7 times. never in combat, just my own stupidity. stations and outpost walls :D
btw. there is another thread about how forgiving the collision is right now :p

I died by my own hand, foolishly tried to kill a high level npc Python, which managed to shoot out my thrusters, but then couldn't hit me again.....

Haven't died yet...

But my closest call so far was yesterday I was up against a competent Anaconda in my Adder. I had him down to 60% hull, 30% power supply and he just nailed me, I went from full shields and hull to no shields and running away as fast as my boost would carry me. Lost my canopy, had to switch to emergency O2, and I was boosting and making corkscrews as my hull went down down down. I don't know how I got away but when the FSD kicked in I was at 1% (I KID YOU NOT).

I flew soooo carefully back to the nearest station. It was an outpost. It had no repair facilities. With 10 minutes left on my emergency O2 I launched again and headed to the next-nearest station. I was no less careful the second time I limped into the slot. I made it in with 5 minutes remaining on the O2.

I'm gonna give Anacondas a wide berth till I get into something a bit better equipped to deal with them. Yes, I said that last time too.

I almost died in gamma.

I was just about to enter a planetary ring to have a look around but was dying for the toilet, so I dropped out of SC, turned off head-tracking and went to the smallest room.

Mid-stream, I heard the words "warning, temperature critical" from the back bedroom. By the time I'd addressed the immediate issue and got back to the PC, my ship temperature was over 300% and the screen was full of smoke and sparks. I had no idea what was happening. Luckily I had the presence of mind to fire off a heatsink, but the effect was only temporary. Temperature continued to rise and more hull damage was happening.

It took another heatsink before it dawned on me... Yep, silent running was still bound to the button I'd been using for the head-tracking toggle before the controller wipe.

I've now unbound silent running altogether and can visit the lavatory with complete peace of mind.

Just had second death since Gamma....Wanted Orca...smashing him to bits...he was down to 5%...and turned and boosted into me !!!!

I had pips to weapons at the time....full shields....but Orca's be heavy beasties....bye bye cobra (had 36 tonnes of silver on board to #@$@#$#@)

Notice how everyone has died from smacking into things and running out of fuel. Barely anyone has been killed by the incompetent AI.

Oh the incompetent AI got me. Rammed inside a station by a docking NPC. Why do they just charge straight to the landing pads irrespective of other ships? I didn't see the hit as it was from behind as I was contemplating how to handle the docking bug where the landing assist doesn't show up so you can't land.

I was killed once by a player in a low conflict zone in Sorbago. I totally forgot that other players could be there too, did not look out for any and was killed in no time.

Yesterday I was interdicted by a player in a viper (me in my medium upgraded cobra), he said he wanted to rob me, I tried to reply that I have no cargo, was too slow for him, he started shooting, my shields were instantly gone, I boosted and did evasive manouvers until my shields were up again and then I thought, "well, now I can try to fight him". So I dropped speed in order to turn and he rammed me and died instantly. I took no damange and had a good laugh. :)

I had my first death last night, since Beta.
Simply got too cocky while docking a new ship.
.
After countless successful dockings, this time I came in too hot, misjudged my turn radius and smashed into the walls of the entrance so hard that I insta-vaporized.
.
Live and learn.
