Well some of us are just more rational. First, OP probably made the mistake himself, second it's not even a real bug. Imagine playing a racing game and the AI sometimes rams you (like 1 out of 100 races), I certainly wouldn't start an entitled forum thread about it. It's perfectly normal and nothing to get upset about. It's certainly a good indicator of what's ahead with the rest of the game, including the response you're getting from others on this forum (eg it's your fault for using auto launch and not flying out yourself, etc). Everything is like this. There's fun to be had, but there's lots of "broken stair" moments throughout.
It's quite difficult to sympathize with the OP when you yourself started the game before there even was an auto-launch, and buying the auto-dock was too expensive for newbies.it's your fault for using auto launch and not flying out yourself,
The game doesn't claim that, the manufacturer of your docking computer does.OP is having a blast with the auto computers.
Joke aside, they are only worth using if you can already fly your ship, so that you can babysit the auto computer and take over whenever it begins to destroy your ship. I never said, "don't ever use them". Only that OP should learn to land and unlock so he can avoid auto computers destroying his ships.
OP can't be blamed for being frustrated by the game failing to execute a very simple task that it claims to be able to do, and then making him pay for it.
It's not a bug. It's a British game, they love to que. They love it so much they put an extra ue to it so it lasts longer.I just expect in game mechanics to work. If a simple auto-launch system screws up within my first 5 launches, what other stupidity can I expect from the game? This is not a newly released game, bugs like that shouldn't still be around. And if it's not a bug, but by design, then I'm guessing this is not the game for me. Programmed stupidity is worse than bugs, imho.
TY all for your responses. Time to go
This is not a newly released game, bugs like that shouldn't still be around.
Point out a problem I experienced, came here to ask if I can expect more of this before I sink a ton of time into the game, and that makes me a crybaby? It's quite difficult to sympathize with the OP when you yourself started the game before there even was an auto-launch, and buying the auto-dock was too expensive for newbies.
In my opinion, OP is a crybaby who should find a nice farm related game to play![]()
I didn't touch any controls, but I was afk. I was petting my cat if you must know, and he didn't care that my ship blew up either. The most likely explanation is still that he just touched his controls which overrides autolaunch.
He is new to the game and doesn't understand how it works, so I guess it's more sensible to assume pilot error instead of a bug (especially with a game that isn't exactly friendly to newcomers).
Even if auto launch failed, he still had plenty of time to get out of the station himself, so again, pilot error.
And even if he was AFK and had no chance to exit the station manually (which would be another pilot error) he could still simply ask support to reimburse him for his losses, which makes more sense than creating a whiny thread about a problems that might happen in 1 of 100000 times.
In the meantime he already announced that he is gone 2-3 times without actually being gone, so I assume he is probably just trolling. Apparently he doesn't like to take advice either, so why bother?
That's some curious logic you're using there. It's quite difficult to sympathize with the OP when you yourself started the game before there even was an auto-launch, and buying the auto-dock was too expensive for newbies.

My typical way to deal with that kind of situation especially when flying Cutter is to take over and brute force my way out. One may get some fines though...I'm leaving a station for only the 5th time as I just started playing. I use Autolaunch, just like every other time. It puts me in a queue, even though there is no one else around. Queue time runs out, and the station fines me, then kills me. Now it puts me very far away from where I was.
If this is the stupidity I can expect, please let me know so I don't waste anymore time...
ty in advance.
Elite have imo really awesome ships flight model which needs some time to get used to it and it also very differs for various ship. For example while flying with heavy hauler T-9 you almost can really feel that huge mass right behind your back while you sit in glass cocpkipt on ship nose and look to all directions. Or while on foor (Odyssey) you can watch how huge Cutter or smaller (but still big) T7 lands right before your eyes. This is however just one small part of this game, rest depends about you and your ability to make your goals or find a group which have goals which you may like support. This game can be played for years and having fun ... or can become boring pretty fast if you do not find "what to do". Hard to say anything more or advise, it really depends about what type of player you are. There is allot going on behind the scenes, missions offered on stations are based on bacground simulation which is, or can be, longtime goal for many. There are also hostile species (Thargoids) which is not easy to fight and which needs specifically prepared ships. You can also upgrade your ships (or on foot equipment) and make them better ... but this again depeneds about your preferences ... some players want have it done overnight, some slowly upgrade things occassionally for years. There is not any end-goal, there is just path which fully depends about player and his decisions. The underlying premise is I'm just trying to see if I should invest my time in this game or not, by getting responses from people who are actually playing it. I'm not sure why that is a bad thing to some of you, but I really don't care either, that's the way I work.
I concur and fully support this statement..... I've found if you want to be good at Elite Dangerous you have to invest a lot of time into it. IMHO, it's definitely worth it ...
