So let me get this straight...

Except what frontier is doing is anti thetical to making moNey with the effort of not delivering much to purchase besides half baked ship kits with barely any detail.
Kit pieces covering up your prefab color schemes! Off hues, wack patterns and fluffy spoilers.
Ill timed release of commander garb with no where to go or get up and see.

They make money with their other game. And with the hype. This is why imo they dont reinforce the base game but build more and more thing beside it , while some base part are still crazy unbalanced / broken and VERY small QoL improvement are not even looked at (recently talked about the FA-Off not staying whe you disconnect , why the SAME param stay on SRV). This is may be why they dont bother communicate alot. (on elite forums at least).

It's just that to me when a compagny want to do a good game and is sucessfull they end up polishing the game itself alot , and do not end in the crasy moneymaking part.
We'r not on the fifa/CoD level still.

So there is some balance (yet to be found :p ) between making a good game with love , making enought money to make it work , while not chasing only about money.

And sorry but slowly , elite and FD are bending , to me , more on the money side than the "game" side.

It's just peronal opinion, the games they do are great i think in a general sens , but elite have so much more that can be done.

We'll see , it's not like it's over =).

edit : and as i said in some other post that may have been deleted , i dont understand why compagny (game dev ones at least) have to build million , and be infinitly growing to be considered as sucessfull.

Yeah, I do understand VR. "neutered" was the word used though. That's patently nonsense, and extreme.

It's a sad state of affairs when a VR player such as myself is so put off by some of the whining & VR exceptionalism, I'm almost hoping they don't include it lol.
I don't see why "neutered" is extreme, but use lessened, handicapped, cheapened, degraded or reduced if you prefer. I thought I gave a reasoned and positive rationale for why I think playing outside VR is not as good as 2D. Can you explain for me why you think that this was "nonsense" and "extreme", rather than just declaring it so without justification. This is how debate works, does it not?

If it were me, I'd just say I prefer playing in VR. Which I do.

That doesn't mean non VR is "neutred", or "handicapped".

Seriously?

The 2d monitor experience is not "neutered" compared to VR, it's just different. I have VR and use it in ED, and I also use my monitor some of the time depending how I'm feeling.

You're entitled to prefer it, but some others actually don't. It is NOT the case that everyone who tries it abandons 2D.

Just saying.
Likewise, I use VR & Pancake quite happily, more Pancake than VR currently - while I agree wholeheartedly that VR puts you 'in' the ship and presents scale in a way that Pancake doesn't - I still enjoy playing in both modes equally and have no misgivings in choosing whichever mode is most convenient at the time.

Same here but having a really big screen, I found it way more comfortable on pancake mode... For me VR has too much flaws, nausea, time to set up, sweating, can't see around you so can't type on chat, look at eddb or else.etc...

Only a 32" screen here. Most of my Pancake is due to 2 ageing dogs who have peanut bladders - and likewise having other out-of-game resources easily available makes some play sessions Pancake just because I like EDSM giving me info about the system I'm in when exploring - and other things :)

The only time I really prefer VR over screen is when playing CQC, cause you don't have to chat or look for stuff on the internet + it's a clear advntage being able to look around...

I'd be unable to fly how I like to on pancake, tbh. VR's a requirement for me to play properly.

Everyone's different - s'just how it is. Up until ED:O - this is fine as we've all got the options we need.
After...well....we'll have to wait and see. Let's just say faith is in generally short supply though, given the stuff about "Built for VR" and previous examples of 'forgotten' stuff that was supposed to be worked on, but never was.

With SRV I really can't play VR at all it's too much nausea inducing, that's why I really don't care about odyssey not being Vr cause walking and using jetpack will probably have the same effect or worse.
Every game I tried in vr with some vertical movement have been terrible, I cn't stand it more than a minute, I can't see how odyssey would be different....

That's easy tho ;) - Just never drive an SRV. I hate them too, and avoid them like the proverbial plague. :D

What I don't get about the whole VR kerfuffle (I DO get why people who have it are upset at not having it, though), is why so many VR'ers are automatically assuming that "no VR at launch" means:

1) "No VR, EVER! and"
2) "We're going to strip the existing, functional parts of the VR code (flying, SRVs) from Odyssey as well (out of spite?)."

Number 1) is anybody's guess whether it will ever happen or not, number 2) I find utterly, completely baffling.

I get the feeling the former 'pc elitists' have just evolved into 'VR elitists' and its more of an ego thing than anything else for those specific people where they need to be better and need to be right

While i totaly agree to your point, the problem was more that elite was really amazing VR game before many others , and is somehow "breaking" their VR immersion by having some part not in vr. But the main point to me is , VR seems to be a thing that FD plan to add (for real :p ) so , it's not that horrible.

2) is understandable when you realise that Horizons is a dead platform as far as E: D goes. Odyssey will take the place that Horizons currently occupies going forwards, and become the defacto game.

If Odyssey is simply E: D's last hurrah, then that's one thing. But if the game carries on, it effectively means E: D no longer supports VR. Just like E: D no longer supports 32-bit, or Mac...
