VR is a tricky one. Has anyone worked out how to run an FPS with VR and non-VR players yet?
Fast action FPS games will be a tough one such as COD.
But I play along side monitor players in NMS and that works just fine. You can tell the VR players because they can wave at you both other than that is is ok. I believe it has PvP too but I have not tried
Some options in VR FPS games won't work in ED. Players using teleport would look stupid.
Even snap turn would perhaps be out tho that depends. People can turn pretty instantly with A mouse so I actually believe snap turn could be added without it looking too obvious from the outside, but even IF that was out too
FPS could still be added without those comfort options that many don't use anyway.
1 comfort mode that can be used (it would put the VR player at a disadvantage but that is their choice) is the comfort mode option in from other suns (doom 3 also offers it) it allows you to walk but your camera keeps still then snaps back to 1st person when you stop moving. It would be a disadvantage for sure but would not look odd for those you are playing with.
Failing all that if Open players really feel VR players should not be allowed to play along side them then lock it to PG and solo. (I think that would be daft with all the different other options which give different advantages and not to mention look silly singling out VR is lame.
Just look at KB/M players jumping around spinning 180degrees and aiming with 100% precision. There is nothing remotely sensible about that and VR actually proves it as that feels so unnatural.
Finally... I really hope FD don't go fast paced FPS in foot anyway. A slower paced alien isolation / Adr1ft / dead space 1 type pace would be far better suited to elite imo all of which would be perfect in VR, then add the jetpacks for faster traveling
