I really hope we can engineer them to light weight, damn they’re heavy!
Nope, FDev showing their lack of interest in their work, care about the community, understanding of THEIR game and competence.
This is what the new limpet controllers should have been, any player could tell them that!
I know they have not been released yet but I think that you have missed an opportunity.
The Universal Limit controller that can do it all takes a size 7 module slot, limiting it to 5 or 6 ships!
You cannot work your way around it by having multiple smaller Universal Limit controllers of different types as you can only have one.
The options should have been the same as most of the other limpet controllers, size 1, 3, 5 and 7.
Size 1 Universal Limpet controller can have two types of limpets,
Size 3 Universal Limpet controller can have three types of limpets,
Size 5 Universal Limpet controller can have five types of limpets.
While Size 7 Universal Limpet controller can have them all, which you have done correctly.
All combinations and permutations if the types should also be available.
So there would be:
42 Size 1 Universal Limpet controllers, (7 options for the first type of limpets, multiplied by 6 options for the second type of limpets).
210 Size 3 Universal Limpet controller, (7 options for the first type of limpets, multiplied by 6 options for the second type of limpets, multiplied by 5 options for the third type of limpets).
840 Size 5 Universal Limpet controller, (7 options for the first type of limpets, multiplied by 6 options for the second type of limpets, multiplied by 5 options for the third type of limpets, Multiplied by 4 options for the fourth type of limpets).
With only one type 7 Universal Limpet as it has all combinations.
My permutations and combination calculations may be out but I think you get the idea.
This way the players could choose the ones they need for the way they play the game.
Yes some combinations will never be used, I get that.
But if the classes are set up on the programing side the process of making these would be easy and repeatable after the first one.
Can they be engineered?
I hope so but no one has mentioned this on the stream I watched.
Also new types of engineering for the limpets could be done:
Faster ones increasing by 10% speed for each grade of engineering.
Further ranged ones increasing by 10% range for each grade of engineering.
Longer lasting ones increasing by 10% time duration for each grade of engineering.
Tougher ones ones increasing by 10% "toughness" for each grade of engineering. Maybe making level 5 bullet proof who do not expire from damage only from time.
Remember the enemy of excellent is not bad, but good.
If what is proposed is good enough you miss out on an opportunity to provide a great feature.
