Some ideas on getting the most out of the upcoming content

By the way, I never argued against the proposed stuff - except for building anything at Sagittarius A*, that is. I'd oppose that.

from the OP;
"- Stage 1 - Building an Astrophysics Lab (Outpost) in orbit around Sagittarius-A (or in a neighboring star system)." - you're covered ;)

Ah. I didn't notice that. Well, in that case it's safer to assume that the construction goals are out, unless FD decide to make an exception. Which might not be a good idea.

Why are they out? you seem really keen to see this thing just go away. Very strange. What about making the outposts undockable instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater? There are already outposts in the game that are undockable. There's a tourist one near the core. If dockable outposts are against the rules, then make them undockable. No need to abandon everything. But this is all academic anyway, thinking about it further and how players reacted to the gnosis event and the salome event, sadly I think Frontier won't touch DW2 with a 10 feet pole because of what has happened, and there are people in elite who don't want to see player events succeed, or even be attempted for some strange reason :S

Why are they out? See what Ian Doncaster wrote. I think it's a bad rule, but it's what's in place then. It would be great if they revised it; allow them for DW2 and for anyone else.

You seem really keen on taking some parts out from what I write, and misinterpreting the whole. (Plus conveniently ignoring a question.) I've made my point, and made it quite clear why I wrote what I wrote. Let me just remind you that I'm signed up for DW2 too, and have no interest in seeing it not happen.

I am looking forward to the whole aspect of Distant Worlds II with all the extra content hopeful we will get the go ahead for the CG's how can FDev refuse with all the press this is going to get.

However I am a little worried for our Rock Rat Cmdr's due to the new changes to Mining and the possibility of extra dangers to their ships with asteroid explosions and the possibility it may cause them some problems when they are extracting the resources we need.

Although I will be predominantly and Explorer/Scientist I will also carry a small amount of Repair Limpets on the off chance I am fairly close if someone should need assistance of them.

I would like to thank all the organizers for all their preparation and extremely hard work in putting this all together I won't make a list in-case I accidentally miss someone out by my ignorance.

Meet you all out in the black at some point

Fly safe Cmdr's

Blast resistent shield modding might become a thing for them, also we have the fleet mechanic corps, so no worries :)

Just want to chime in and say that I appreciate the efforts of the organisers to make DW2 really unique and groundbreaking. This will be the biggest event for explorers in the history of the game. All the events, community initiatives, group expeditions, the colonia project (CCN and all the other groups), astronomical databases, and mapping projects that have come before have each contributed something special to the exploration community. FGE, DW1, Canonn, and CCN, however, were milestone initiatives that each broke new ground in defining what the game and its community can be. I agree that just going out on a big expedition with a group of people to a remote destination is a lot of fun. Indeed, the best moments I've had in the game were in some of these group expeditions based on the fantastic DW1 template: LOG-E and the Minerva Centaurus Expedition, for example, were amazing and I met some really great CMDRs on those expeditions. But I respect the DW2 organisers for wanting to create a new template. They deserve feedback and cooperation from FDev. They have made the game better, and have attracted some of the game's best press. With all the grumbling lately amongst explorers, we should at least all agree that DW2 should be the best event possible, and I for one hope that Frontier cooperates.

Thank you for those words :)

Howdy DW2 participants!
As a Colonia dweller, I will be joining the endeavor without actually going back to inhabited space, rather catching up at Sag A*.
Anyone else in the vicinity who will be travelling in similar fashion?

As a signed-up miner, I've also created CDSM - Colonia Deep Space Mining squadron. Should you like to practice your mining skills before the event, and then travel as a group, feel free to apply - the more, the merrier ;)

As a fact we need an map of the waypoints so we can folow weekly also i don't like mining but i took one seismic charger with me to displace the asteroids for others to gather also i took some real engineered weapons on my asp explorer that can and it will take down even a big ship because its heavelly engineered almost everything on my ship its called federal security for a reason

Doing this from memory but I am storing:
1 mining laser
1 Seismic launcher
1 abrasion blaster
1 deep charge thing a bobber
1 refinery (size 4 I think)
1 pulse wave scanner
some cargo bays

For me it is everything stored at Blair station

Mind listing? IE, what are you storing to ship out?

Just about everything that will fit on my Python:

-2 medium mining lasers (I will probably carry one of them from the start)
-One each of the new mining tools for my three remaining hardpoints
-Pulse wave analyzer
-4A refinery
-2 x 3D collector limpet controllers
-3A prospector limpet controller
-5A fuel scoop, which will replace my normal 6A fuel scoop for the duration of the CG
-2 x 6E cargo holds

This should all work nicely with my other core modules, and should also be affordable to transfer out to the CG location. The organizers have put out a number of about 15 hours of transfer time to the location from the bubble, which probably means it won't be Colonia but a closer location, maybe one of the waystations on the way to Colonia or one of the mining outposts in the various Nebulae around there.

Will it be a viable strategy to buy and store mining gear in the bubble and have it delivered to us when at the CG begins?

Yes, the organizers have explicitly stated that this is possible. In fact, I'll be having a whole mining setup ready to be shipped out as soon as we arrive at the CG station.

Just to clarify, this is only confirmed for the first CG (at Waypoint 2). We're still waiting to hear back from FD whether we'll be able to transfer modules to the CG2 location in the Galactic Core. If not, then miners will have to carry it there themselves.

Sorry if this is repeating.....kinda fell off the loop and lost track of time...

Is it..
A CG to build the mega ship (or whatever it is) at WP2
Another CG to establish outpost near core
Another CG to establish outpost at Beagle?

Is WP2 near enough to take a heavy/dedicated miner and then swap back to more exploration based ship (with limited mining capabilities) for rest of the trip?

Is there a list of asked for v confirmed items/features somewhere (excluding spoilers if applicable)?

The first CG is a mining-CG to gather the required materials needed to build a new Starport in the Galactic Core. We'll deliver the materials to an installation close to Waypoint 2 where they'll presumably be refined, processed, and turned into the station superstructure... using dev magic. :)

The installation where the CG will take place has outfitting, so you can buy all the mining gear and store it in the bubble, then transfer it there when you arrive (takes about 15 hours to transfer mods there). There is no ship transfer option there though, so you need to take the ship you're planning on using for the whole expedition.

The CG will last 1 week, after which the fleet will depart and begin the rest of its journey along the DW2 route. In several weeks time, when we approach WP7 in the galactic core, the Station superstructure will be deployed at the CG2 location, and we'll head there to begin another mining-based CG. This time the CG will be to provide the outfitting facilities the Starport will eventually have (plus maybe one or two other things).

Once the 2nd CG ends, the fleet should be able to unload all its mining gear at the new starport in readiness to begin the journey to Beagle Point.

There will be no megaship and no CG at Beagle Point.

Sounds like Omega. ;)

I, too, am in Colonia and not going back to Omega - hoping to join up wiht the main convoy somewhere before Sag A* though. John Xenir - I'd be interested in joining a wing/squadron of folk from Colonia, have you got anything up and running yet?
