Some performance tweaks/fixes

I was getting some crashes shortly after logging in with v0.3, reverted to v0.2 from github and it seems fine again. Could have been the game though, it kept putting me back at Taygeta, the Titan's Daughter station even after jumping to supercruise (it's just above a ring so maybe that was causing issues). But it would be a first, I rarely get crashes to desktop and the frontier error reporting thing.

I"ve not seen report of crashes so far. But i did not have the time to test it that much in space.
I think those reflections shaders are not used in space, so the mod should do nothing.

Another thing or two to put in the wishlist demonstrated in the video that follows (will show as low res until YouTube processes the HD version)
  • Ships that have a lot of their paint worn off on your travels get way over reflective.
  • When going from a bright area to a shadow area or turning on lights, the annoying contrast dipping/HDR effect/simulating eyes adjusting to dark? (or whatever they want to call it), is way over the top. This effect should be really subtle like only 25% of the current strength that it has. It really badly affects gameplay around buildings and does not make things look realistic in the ways I think they were going for. It's annoying.

Yep, eye adaptation does not work very well, i don't know if there's a shader for this.
I tried disabling it and also changing a HDR setting (to improved the dark areas), but the results where not that great.

Noticed that as well last night, wondered what the heck is going on, it also seemed to bug at some point.

It might be more than annoying for people that have issues with their eyes.
Saw someone posting that Odyssey's mixed rendering led to frequent migraines, seems that it stresses they eyes to much for some people.
Although I think it might mainly be related to all the flickering beside the unstable fps at the new larger settlements.
I recall Star Wars: The Old Republic having the same kind of flickering at launch, although it did help forcing AA and clamping the negative LOD bias via driver back then.

Heads up, Update 6 might change things and make this mod not work.

Keyword being 'might,' updates and mods rarely play nice with each other.

It will get overwritten for sure.
As far as i understood reading the update thread, Update 6 should drop later this week, right?

If the shader changes its id, i'll update the mod. I've already done that a few times
Sometimes i also need to update the filters (to prevent glasses from loosing their liquid, suits helmet missing their visor).

Unless the problem is fixed of course :)

Hoping it will get fixed, sometimes with the mod enabled I just get random crashes.

Tis the nature of modding, but don't make it any less annoying

Awesome mod! I have a GTX 1070 and with this mod I'm getting a nice 10+ FPS boost in concourses. Thank you for it!

By the way, on one of the first pages you mentioned you were working on the crushed blacks. Would you have anything to share about that? I'm generally finding the game's contrast a bit too high. I can't see anything in a settlement at night and when I turn on the flashlight it's so bright that my eyes hurt. So anything that would make the dark areas of the game brighter would be awesome.

Ditto: Literally Every Other FPS Game has an option to control reflection quality or turn them off completely built in, same for HUD elements.
Even Metroid Prime back in the early 2000s let you change helmet Opacity.
