I agree that the first thing that came to mind with the audio was Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
At 3x-4x speed it sounds like a trombone or trumpet playing 2 tones. Down-up Down-up Up-down.
There is more to the audio but that's the first thing that immediately jumps out.
So it's got the same effect we saw in the original Elite Mystery Solver video and came from the same place he claimed it came from?
Looks like we got double trolled, and he was telling the truth about finding one all along.
Now, of course, we need to figure out what, if anything, they actually mean - I have a feeling this part isn't going to be as fun as the original SSTV/Voyager Plaque hoax was, sadly.

I agree ! we need real complex things in there , like imagine if there a thargoid relic out there and once we find it thats when they come back. as much as its ''nice'' thats there is the option for everyone to join in , I would prefere it to be more of a first once there gets all the rewards , even in exploring.Gives the devs ideas on the kind of level of complexity we ARE looking for in the future. Bring it on, guys.... we're up for tricky puzzles, deciphering signals and long hunts like this. Tie it in with CG and long branching missions and we have everything we dreamed of. Generation ships, anyone?
Yes - I don't think I got the whole cycle now. If you take the two tones as zeros and ones, you get:
0101101 = -
001011 = <vertical tab - out of place?>
1001101 = M
0110011 = 3
0101101 = -
That second one looks very odd to me - there are definitely only six tones in it. Also odd that there are only seven bits - although if you take it as ASCII, the eighth bit isn't necessary.
I'm going to get out and spend some more time recording it tonight to see if I can discern a repeating pattern to be sure I've got the whole thing.
Edited with ASCII translations, just in case
great job wishblend, can I have one![]()
