Sorry Yamiks and all naysayers, but Odyssey is BETTER than Horizons

I neither like or dislike him I just have no use for him.

I hope you realize the contradiction of what you just said.
It's always subjective. The only thing objectively wrong with ED at the moment is bugs. Our opinion about the gameplay will differ. The exaggeration of issues gets old real quick, and seeing people regurgitate opinions they picked up on Youtube gets older even faster.

:D S

I don't hate the guy but his self proclaimed hypercritical style is designed solely to drive controversy and clicks. I'm an old fart, so I remember a time before social media outrage/ Trial by Media/Keyboard warriors. There is nothing constructive in his content and his style and actions since the launch have been entirely negative, His comment on Tuesdays SuperCruise News announcement, wondering what the like/dislike ratio would be after the stream was I believe a call to arms to his supporters to flood it with dislikes. Why? What is the motive? To help? To Damage?
At best he grudgingly/if at all, accepts the games positives. Moaning ad nauseum about the grind, giving the impression that the only way to succeed is to obsessively grind everything to G5 at once, his "27 Hour to G5 a Maverick Suit" video is a prime example of his bias. I suspect his figures are probably accurate but he omits any mention of the fact that you can quite easily find G3 suits and work from there or the fact that this kind of grinding is a choice. Yamiks and people like him are not part of the solution

Sorry if I sound like a snob, but your forum account was only created this year. You have no clue how bad it was unless you were there to witness the burning forum and pitchforks over the last seven years.

Personally I always managed to expect very little which is why I was pleasantly surprised with most updates. But I've seen the riots...
which has nothing to do with how long i have played elite which is long before Horizons was released. I got friends to try it and even subsequently bought it on PS4 and a hotas for the PS4 and got a friend to buy it for PS4. I played the original 1984 a little, played Frontier to death, played First Contact and ED is my second most played game in my steam library at 1215.5 hrs, granted not huge compared to some but I have a large library of games I play and have played both on console and PC over the years and only so many hours in the day. I've dabbled with the ARX store and until Odyssey have thoroughly enjoyed Elite, even more so when I bought a Rift S back in 2019 just to experince Elite in VR. I bought a quest 2 simply to enjoy a sharper image in Elite VR after getting my 3080.

I had no expectations for Odyssey beyond the trailer on steam...

I was referring to your experience on the forums, which is why I talked about the reception of Horizons and subsequent patches on the forums. As I said, you weren't there, you don't know how bad it was.

There is a big irony in the fact that the CMDRs who hates Yamicks so much, are negative toward him because he is negative toward the game.

You can't make that up.
Criticism is fine, but I feel like I'm too old for that teenage snarky sneering youtube style. You get it on all sorts of types of videos and it always makes me feel like I'm being lectured by somebody who's never left their bedroom.

A little here and there is fine and can make an otherwise boring review video entertaining, but he definitely takes it too far. It makes him sound immature and like he's trying to appeal to a younger demographic, which is odd because this game has an older demographic than most games.

And this is coming from an Airplane! fan which isn't exactly mature humor lol.

Personally I don't hate Yamiks, I just don't care about him. I don't watch Youtubers anyway, but even if, Yamiks is probably the last channel I would subscribe. Not because he is negative towards the game, but because I find his style annoying. And because I don't need someone to tell me stuff I already know.

Wait, I said I don't watch YouTubers? Well I watched 3 different videos for 3 minutes each, I guess that's enough.

Don't get me wrong, I don't say that Yamiks is a bad person, I just find him annoying like I find Adam Sandler annoying. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe it’s a generational thing, but I rarely watch game videos/streams, and if I do, it’s ones that have information I am interested in: (tutorials), funny bug compilations (e.g. trolleys killing people in a certain space game), and maybe some brief reviews where the reviewer isn’t totally obnoxious. I don’t want to watch somebody‘s opinions on gameplay. I can read forum comments much faster than watch some video.

Oh yes, "I don't hate him, I don't even care". Say the poster who post several time in a thread about said youtuber.

That's another irony, I guess. I don't care about PvP in this game, and I never posted in the pvp thread (unless a thread was moved). See, that's what you do when you don't care. You actually don't care. 🤷‍♂️

To be fair I don't think this was a thread about Yamiks specifically, but rather "Yamiks and all naysayers".

Including but not limited to Yamiks, basically. I personally also don't really care what Yamiks has to say, but I can still care what they naysayers are saying.

Now that bugs have been fixed, and even if everything is not perfect yet, I can say it with some confidence. Some stuff dosen't work, yep, SRV still lags, yep, but IU is actually better once that you've figured it out, the game has more to offer, and perf-wise, well, it will get better (it already had) but if you haven't upgraded you PC since Horizons in 2015 and you expect to play Odyssey 60FPS in 2021, I mean, wake up... Also, myself I had a lot of reservations against the game at first, before realizing that actually what I had in mind existed, simply iI haden't noticed (like the toggle-switch in equipment IU to avoid selling your old equipment). The more I play it, the more I realize that most issues we had simply don't exist, but people (Latvia anyone?) don't want to plainly admit that.
The best example of an oxymoron ive seen in a while
