Sothis and Ceos Advice

Eh? What has this got to do with it? My advice still stands and is a very rapid way to boost your rep at Ceos or Sothis.

Yeah your right, sorry I meant it as in "Don't remind me about the data and rep because I wasted mine" I totally agree with you I am just gutted I didn't do it last week lol

Sorry bad typing on my part .

On a good note I just completed my first run and managed to make 37.1 Million on my first attempt in the 200T python carrying precisely 188T cargo, it took me a bit longer tho as I got interdicted rammed and blown to pieces so wasted a bit of time there re-collecting the missions but all in all a great result.

Thank you very much for your help and everyone that has contributed towards this post!!

Yeah, scooping every star is kinda necessary, that's why I used a 6a, you can fill up everytime without over heating in one pass, and have enough in case you run into a couple brown dwarfs. I had to occasionally change my course to a scoopable star, but it didn't happen to often. But make sure you run for your life when interdicted, a class 3 shield will not hold up long even with 4-5 boosters!

Good haul for first go! Congrats.

did you try to fight the interdiction?

Sooo another question, i'm that pleased with the run I am thinking of dropping the python and grabbing my anaconda back, going for a max distance build as you were all right 40 Jumps in my python to get home was pretty long lol

When I was collecting the missions in my python I paid very little attention to the stations but this time I've got a restriction on needing a large pad station only...
How do you guys work around this, does the game only offer you missions with stations having large pads?

Or do you have to manually check this as you go?

Silly question I know but I am just about to sell my beloved python and I want to be 100% sure it's the right move!!

Thanks again guys

Now that they fixed the missions, any medium pad missions will be in the "unavailable mission" section. When you are in a large ship of course.

Fantastic, thank you for the speedy response, if anytime you feel like winging up drop me a message on xbox mate, GT is DRAKUS21

Also I did try to rep you again for your efforts but it won't let me!! lol

Just thought i'd put this out there, since tunnel vision is a plague around here when it comes to making money.

You really don't need to endlessly grind missions out Sothis/Ceos/robigo anymore. There are ingame mechanics that make you more money and you can find these things anywhere.
well, not anywhere, but you definitely don't need to go anywhere far.
Yes, it involves stacking missions.
and yes [rolleyes] it involves combat and sometimes blowing up a few bases.

Yeah it's a fair point, I Like to think of myself as a bit of a main line trader and this is quite appealing to me tbh it's like space trucking with the added benefit of increasing faction ranks and earning engineering materials at the same time whilst pulling down some nice upgrade money.

This is all very true, they have greatly improved the mission system. I got bored with the long range hauling missions after a bit, I also did it so I could buy a bunch of different ships and play around with their builds. Hell I made 85 mil in the last CZ community goal in 2.5 days and it was a heck of a lot more fun than running poop 400 Ly. Mixing it up has always been key for me, and that includes trying my hand at Long range hauling, doesn't hurt when you get a 40 million paycheck to go with it!

I will add you drakus, and woodbane too, when I get back from holiday. My gt is WeToddEd96 (I'm 33, just had to add some numbers at the end).

Sorted i'll do the same mine says 21 at the end but I am actually 30 myself.. look forward to the wing :)

Yeah for my own stupidity it was a FAS too... I was actually doing really well against it considering I was full of cargo then honest to god he just boosted at me square on, popped my shields and 40% health off my hull, I ran away but he interdicted ne twice to finish me off lol

Learnt my lesson now!! haha

True, the mechanics got improved a lot. I got offered Skimmer missions for 5, 7 or even 10 mio. credits, for 1 mission! But in the end, it takes much more time to do these missions, especially, if there's fighting involed than doing the S/C/R runs. It's faster IMHO and it's just great when you have 40 mio. credits more on your account after you finished delivering the last "package". : )

But indeed, you can get very good payouts with regular missions now since 2.1. It's a big improvement. But after my 10th skimmer and 15th assassination mission, I got bored. These runs are fun again and I level up a lot. Only 57 % to go to reach ADMIRAL level. Aaaaaaaaaand I get a lot of exploration data. Never did that before. Nice side effect to also level up in this area.

Have you guys noticed that neither starport rotates? I just noticed it this morning, thought it was weird.

And no welcoming message.

And no welcoming message.

Do any of the star ports that far outside of the bubble have a welcome message? There's certainly no comms chatter either.

Got back to home base (Ray Gateway in Diagunadri) last night a cool 29mil richer from a Robigo slave run but it honestly wasn't much fun. The mission boards at Robigo are still refreshing very slowly, I had stacked a few missions in the morning before I left for work, again when I got home (spent like 10 mins doing this each time) and then at 9pm when I sat down to play for a couple of hours. Ended up leaving with only 215t cargo filled out of my 240t Python.

Only got interdicted TWICE the whole journey and then one pesky pirate in the last drop off system turned into a repeat interdictor. Thought "Right, I'll teach you a lesson and leave a minefield for you to fly through", only to realise I'd forgotten to install them in outfitting!

Ended up shaking him by dropping in and out of super cruise a couple of times before he could figure out where I was, and then off to my last drop off. Still, cemented for me that you really don't need weapons if you're taking the 'submit and run' approach, only if you want to mess with your tormentors!:D

Debating either one more CEOS/SOTHIS jaunt or I may just take a break from hauling and smuggling and just get my local faction reputation up at 'home base', something I've not actually ever taken the time to do. I quite fancy outfitting a Viper and going to do some sentry/base destroying.

Question: Diaguandri is an Independent system but I'd say 90% of the local factions are tied to Federation (which is fine as I'm Allied with Federation). My question is; what would it take for that system to turn to a Federation one? I don't really understand the whole power play thing or how this mechanic works.

Guys, this has been a really great thread, very cordial and one of the most fun conversations I've had on this forum since joining, so thanks!

For those that wish to add me on Xbox and maybe wing up sometime the GT is Woodbane. I've not done any wing ups as of yet and it would be awesome to break out the headset and mic and actually chat with some other people and learn how to do missions in a wing. Cheers all! [up]

I'm also interested as to how the power play works in the same way.

I'm also looking for a new home base, might come your way and see if we can get this power play thing worked out?

My GT is jamythegreat, add me I'll be on later if you want to wing up.

I think there's no comms due to it still being under construction? I've noticed a few times when I've arrived at both star ports in those areas you can see what looks like construction going on on the outside of the station. That's my theory anyway :D

As Woodbane just said, this how all threads should be, informative and cordial.
As soon as I deliver these meta alloys to the engineer I may head out there.

Advice please.
Now don't laugh, remember that we all have to start somewhere but....I am in an A rated Cobra 3, I have 6mil and have a bog standard Asp exp in the hangar which I'm trying to earn enough to pimp.(Btw I was using the Asp when the deadly npcs destroyed me in the blink of an eye).
I should take the Asp exp right? As I said I only have 6mil.
What do you guys advise?

Yeah take your asp mate. Spend a bit of money upgrading cargo racks and your fsd etc first. You'll soon make the money back.

Just make sure you leave enough to cover the insurance price! ;)

Sothis runs:-

Get a ship with a good jump range. A rated FSD with D-rated everything else. Don't bother with weapons. Frankly if you get that weight, you might as well get an A rated thruster instead for quick getaways. If you get interdicted in a trader, you are going to run anyway.

A good fuel scoop is essential. A 20-30 jump trip there and back is tedious and perilous if you have to spend ages refuelling.

As much cargo space as possible.

Having your ship set, depart for CEOS. When you arrive there, go to either station or outpost and grab all the missions to take legal cargo or data to SOTHIS. You don't want to damage your reputation or get Wanted.

Fly to SOTHIS and deliver the missions, then collect any similar missions for CEOS while checking all factions for 300-500Lyr delivery missions. These will offer rewards starting around 1M cr (depending on your rank). Grab those! As your reputation with the local SOTHIS factions rises, so will the rewards. Many missions are worth 5M cr and are for delivering 4T of Biowaste!

Repeat the trips between SOTHIS and CEOS, raising your reputation until you fill your cargo hold with long-range delivery mission cargo. Then fly back to the bubble and deliver. Get rich. Go back to CEOS/SOTHIS when you feel like doing it again.

On the (longer) trip back, if you hit a briar-patch of brown stars and fuel is below 25%, go into the galaxy map, switch to "econonmic" and keep going. You will hit a scoop-able star eventually, but use the STAR TYPE filter on the galaxy map to find one if fuel gets too low.

Good luck CMDRs!

Just out at CEOS/SOTHIS now and this was excellent advice. Repped. Thank you CMDR.

No judging here mate - we ALL started in Sidewinders after all. :D

Here's a link to my ASPX smuggling builds - you're gonna need about another 20 mil though! ;)

Actually, there's two versions, one is set for being able to get all the way from Ceos back to the bubble with no refuelling, but lower cargo. The other is higher cargo but obviously not as many jumps.

I also have a Grade 3 Felicity Farseer range upgrade on my 5A FSD which gives me a pretty darn good jump range (33LY max, 29.05 fully laden).

Hope these help:

ASP smuggler (smaller cargo but max jumps and range): https://coriolis.io/outfit/asp/0pft...5f32t402f24.Iw18WQ==.Aw18WQ==?bn=Asp Smuggler

ASP smuggler (max cargo vs range balance): https://coriolis.io/outfit/asp/0pft...WQ==.IwBj4zNMg===?bn=Asp Smuggler - big cargo

Hope that helps CMDR!
