Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Rule #14

If everyone continues to talk about what's deleted, which I'll explain, then I have to keep deleting posts. I don't wanna ban anyone from a thread but it needs to be somewhere else but here.

We also don't allow people to post pictures that look exactly like a Planet zoo official photo with the logo, a DLC name, and "Planet Zoo" in the exact same way Frontier does, font and all. People can see it and think it's real. Just think of what that could cause for Frontier. 😬
Very sorry for that post, I had no idea what I was thinking.

If it's a scenery pack - forests. Could get us that na set everyone wants 2 sa animals, a trees roo, and an na animal.

If it's an animal pack - south American animals pls
Scenery pack for arboreal animals! Tree Kangaroo species, Ringtail, Black Howler Monkey, Brazilian Porcupine, Two Toed Sloth Species (exhibit)

To my little prehensile tailed rodent friend..I found a place for you after all!
:giggle:

Calling it now:

Aliens pack
  1. Xenomorph
  2. Asogiana
  3. Graboid
  4. Rancor
  5. Goa'ould symbiote (E)
Decorations will be space objects, laser swords, spaceships, phasers

Campaign: help the Alien queen establish an army on Earth by masking it to look like a zoo
Going off of this slightly obscure pack idea,

Out of This World Pack

5 animals (most bizarre animals)
Saiga
Aye Aye
Shoebill
Short Beaked Echidna
Naked Mole Rat (E)

Space scenery

Easily would be the best selling DLC lol

Yes I think the "you mean they're NOT Star Wars creations?" pack would sell quite well! I've always thought the Saiga looked like came straight out of the films.

That's a pretty good lineup and theme. Defintely would purchase!
IMO it's pretty likely. Oceania isn't as much of a wildcard as we assumed, I think. Looking at the in-game continent tags, the only two that haven't had a DLC were Oceania and Central America, along with Asia as a whole. We've had South America, North America, Europe, and Africa.

I could say that the Winter DLC will be an Asia Animal Pack with a focus on the Himalayas northward (which would include the wolverine, markhor, so on) but part of me still thinks it will be a biome pack with a primary focus on Asia.

Nice roster, I feel like the Agouti will be the wildcard of this pack, so I can roll with this.
Agouti are pretty underrated. I don't know what it's like overseas but in NZ they used to be a mainstay of our little "South America" sections (which were always mostly just monkeys + iguanas for the most part). That said, I don't know how common the Central American agouti, or other species from Central America, are in captivity. I'm under the impression that Azara's agouti, the red-rumped agouti, and the golden agouti are the most widespread (or some hybridisation of the lot).

A Central American or South American (Amazon) pack is probably the most needed but i suspect it’s about time for a cold-climate pack or just something different… I could see a central or just general Asia pack - whilst I feel like flying birds are more likely than I thought a couple of months ago, I still think it’s probably not going to happen… Maybe if we get support through 2024 it’d make a lot of sense as a spring pack?

Asia Animal Pack speculation is great. I also hope that we will get this pack.
My choice for Asia Animal Pack:
1. Takin
2. Markhor
3. wolverine
4.Golden Snub-nosed Monkey
5. yellow marten
6. golden pheasant
7. chinese salamander
8. Exhibit animal (No ideal)

I think it's a possibility, I like these animal choices. If I was assuming support until December next year just for fun I would go

1. Asia
  • Wolverine
  • Golden snub nosed monkey
  • Takin - generic species with variants reminiscent of subspecies
  • Reeves Muntjac
  • Hamadryas baboon (it's in parts of Asia ok lemme have my baboon pls)
  • Tanuki
  • Sumatran tiger - my fave tiger species
  • King cobra
2. Alpine
  • Marmot
  • Markhor headliner
  • Gelada
  • Kiang
  • Chinese giant Salamander
  • Scenery pack has two flexicolour sets, one is based in Nepalese architecture and the other is based on Tibetan mountain temples.
3. Central America
  • Ocelot
  • Brazilian Agouti
  • Coatimundi
  • Black Howler monkey
  • Cottontop Tamarin headliner
  • Greater Rhea
  • Collared peccary
  • Pygmy marmoset in we. They're what, 15cm maximum not including the tail? I don't want to know how that would look on the climbing frames and eating and drinking. Loops I think would be fine for something so tiny, they're the size of meerkat babies.
4. Forests
  • Goodfellows tree kangaroo headliner
  • Southern tamandua
  • Geoffreys spider monkey
  • Opossum
  • Panther Chameleon
  • Scenery: rustic log builds (it's horizontal) idc for it but I know lots do.
5. Finale pack - endangered species 14+2 as Frontier tends to make larger final packs
  • Secretarybird
  • Pere David's deer
  • Celebes Macaque
  • Sumatran Rhino
  • Saiga antelope
  • Red shanked Douc
  • Arabian Oryx
  • Arabian Tahr
  • Eastern Quoll
  • Large spotted civet
  • Hawaiian monk seal
  • Northern rockhopper penguin
  • Grey crowned crane
  • Coroborree frog
  • Painted terapin

Calling this as the barnyard/domestic pack.
Elaborating: I think Winter 2023 will be either highlands or Latin America, and the one that isn't that will be Summer 2024 (partially wishcasting because I would really prefer an animal pack for Latin America). The "Barnyard Pack" as I'll call it makes sense--domestic animals with petting zoo features are a new thing that can hook casual players as well as probably the most obvious remaining building theme. My preference might be for a "Children's Zoo" pack split between domestic and wild animals, but that labeling might be confusing people who aren't zoo nerds and so I think Frontier would avoid it. As for the roster:

Domestic rabbit (headliner, the one new rig of the pack, and an Easter tie-in)
Domestic cow (Scottish highland would be the best for something more petting zoo-oriented, though my personal preference is the Ankole-Watusi. Outside shot of a zebu)
Domestic goat (African pygmy or adjacent breed)
Domestic donkey or pig (don't want two caprines so no sheep, choice for the pig would be a Kunekune for something a bit more exotic)
Domestic chicken (could get away with this one being a generic chicken)

Five habitat animals and no exhibit animal--my idea would have been some kind of honeybee exhibit but IIRC Frontier said something about not wanting to do that kind of colony-based exhibit (instead focusing on individual animals).

Then it’s perfect for this thread since it’s for Spring 2024

For real, though, since it's looking like (not 100%< of course) that we may get some more DLC in 2024, how would people feel about a children's zoo or petting zoo pack, now? Because I think that'd be kinda cool to have, especially since I'm positive the accompanying update would have animal-human interactions
I would love this pack. It would probably get us a new SA primate (squirrel monkey) and a few other SA mammals (Tamandua, Rhea, Mara) and could possibly get us some domestics (Goats, Highland Cows)
