Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

An animal for an island pack that we will certanly not get but which i would appreciate a ton would be the white cheeked pintail, also known as the bahama duck.
Its a unique enough looking duck thats common in zoos, but most importantly has a pretty bonkers range, consisting of multiple south american coast lines, parts of southern inland south america, the carribeans and most special the galapagose islands, making it a near perfect pick coverage wise to represent new world islands while being generally usefull as a duck.
Sadly its a way to obscure pick as the first duck and also wouldnt even make my and propaply most peoples top 5 ducks, so eh but it would be pretty neat to have something to pair the giant tortoise with

Truly one of my biggest wants for this game is animals in a similar vein to the coconut crab animals such as habitat turtles, the giant salamander and iguanas. Animals thats are so different and distinct from everything else in the game and would help strengthen the weaker taxonomic areas in terms of how how apparent they are butterflies I think are the one and only time that the community as a whole cared about insects and built for them and I want to see this sort of novelty again.

It certainly is an unpopular opinion, but I'm so tired of all this waiting for each DLC that I've finally come to hope that the next DLC will indeed be the last. I'd like to finally be able to plan a zoo without having to worry about what's going to happen next.
Besides, the modders are doing such an excellent job (with the tools at their disposal) that I now have just about everything I've been waiting for. The only things I really want are the walrus and flying birds, but I don't dream too much anymore.
All I want to see now is whatever grand finale the developers can come up with. A magnificent final pack that would fulfill players' realistic expectations and make them say that the game is now more or less complete.

I really dont get this hoping that theirs no more dlc to plan a zoo.
Just plan a zoo around we have now + the mods you want to use and your golden.
If we get the modded animals in the future as official content great, just put them where the mod was and otherwise just keep them there.
I dont see the issue, as anything that isnt allready a mod wont be something to plan around and if the mod becomes official easy substitute it with the official animal.
So if you arnt planning around anything that doesnt exist as either official or modded content then theirs no problem and if your planning around something thats neither then dont you have the same problem in hoping and waiting for certain animals to be modded?

Yeah exactly. I plan my zoos with a species list that includes animals that are not ingame (yet) or that i know there are mods for them. You plan regardless if that animal is ingame or not. Just leave space for it and add it later on. Is what i plan to do with the mods. I dont use them right now but once the game is done and mods don't need to keep getting updated i will add them to the habitats i nade with them in mind. Maybe is different for me because i only play sand box. Idk if this is an issue for franchise players or smth.

Franchise players cant even use mods afaik soooo i doubt it.
Hard to get animals from the market that do not exist yk?

No but i mean, if planning without a finished roster is an issue for them. I don't even know how franchise works exactly tbh lol
I wouldnt know why as planning a franchise zoo isnt much different to planning a sandbox zoo regarding animals, you just need a bunch of guest and staff facilities but that shouldnt be influenced by the animals you actually choose

I mean they would be absolutely dope to have. I just feel that they would be one heck of an amount of work for something that very few people will actually apprechiate.
Plus for an islands pack especially there are alot of really great animals that could also make great use of that effort.
Islands is a pretty versatile animal theme, could even include Walrus and Musk-ox if the qualifier is "range includes an island". It also can't include a lot of things people want, even with the broad definition, so I'm not sure on it suiting a "next final" pack if that's the idea (Native island monkeys are pretty rare in the Caribbean, you're apparently limited to Guyanan Howler monkeys [Trinidad], Cottontop Tamarins [Rosario islands*] & Trinidad White-fronted Capuchins. The Shoebill is not a candidate, and the Secretary bird doesn't seem to be).

Exhibit animal seems like it should be a Giant Weta, give New Zealand a second endemic (Bluff Weta first two, Wetapunga third)

Well you all know how I feel about waterfowl!

While it might be an “odd choice” for a first duck, and new animal to add to the game is never a bad choice. But if we want a “tropical” duck then there a number of ducks we could try:

  1. Any whistling duck
  2. Muscovy duck
  3. Not a duck, but the Nene from Hawaii could also do nicely

Honestly the best thing an islands pack could do is provide not only something like the tree kangaroo, but greatly bolster the bird population in game. Which is honestly why I don’t think we would get an island pack at this point. Here are some of the bird options that would all work for an islands pack:
  1. Nene
  2. Guam rail
  3. Kagu
  4. Caribbean flamingo
  5. Brown pelican
  6. Puffin (Atlantic or Tufted)
  7. Southern rockhopper
  8. The Bahama duck
  9. Victoria crowned pigeon
  10. Madagascan ibis (crested or sacred)
So not to be rude, but that makes me doubtful we would get an islands pack. Yeah we could get a tree kangaroo, but a massive group of animals that live on islands is traditionally left out of packs. While there are a ton of non-birds I want from islands. If we got a traditional Frontier island pack and it’s majority mammals it would feel like a punch in the face.

Maybe doubtful we would get an island pack is not the right thing to say, but I get worried it wouldn’t be the pack I would want it to be. I’m sure other people might like it a lot, but my island pack will be very different to what it actually would be

I must of missed something as well, an islands pack, after last year?! Like why
The talk about the coconut crab kind of lent itself too it. I think we could still get an island pack that could work. Assuming Frontier puts in the non-mammals and arboreal mammals we would look for.
