Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Why do people assume we're getting one more DLC?
Just one officially confirmed dlc from the last financial report, all the issues of frontier staff layoffs, no streams for planet zoo, a lackluster dlc for jwe2, console support among other things lead to us thinking there's just one left. It's not concrete evidence there's just one left of course though, people are still hoping for more.

It feels like they're done with the game honestly lol

As well as the financial report, they have literally said that they are not “quite done yet with pc” and “we think you’ll still be happy with us”.

I get that it is frustrating when normally we would be getting something this week but there is literally no indication that support has already ended - although realistically that end is almost certainly coming soon.

I don't fully get the "things are slowing down" vibe. Things feel pretty normal for what we might expect in the between-DLC times TBH... There's always lulls of silence when we hit this point in the DLC "process" (e.g., the time we all assume to expect teasers to drop). And there's always people saying Frontier's not giving us enough attention, teases, etc.

This is all just par for the course. Maybe a few more weeks of relative silence than we might usually get, a lot of which will be replaced by console. Which makes tons of sense given the $$$ they'd get for a new base game purchase versus DLC.

Give console a beat to shine. It's a different platform but it's all the same game. And if console does well, frankly, it helps the community as a whole... And when the DLC is immanent things will pick up again. Rapidly, I might add. And even if it's the last DLC (maybe even especially because it's the last DLC) they'll go full steam like they always do.

The only thing different is the timing (and TBH, a 3/26 DLC release would feel pretty early so whatever).

Flashbacks to the wait inbetween Conservation and Twilight

If things feel dead go to literally any other media than this forum. There is obviously a lot of activity today. On SoMe the game feels more alive than it has done in a while, we now just need to remember we are sharing the space with a new "generation" of players, and therefore not everything will be interesting for us first comers.

I don't think a big amount of console players are going to find their way to this forum, so their joy can't spread over here but it can be felt elsewhere.

And if any did, today was definitely not a good day to show how accepting we can be with earlier arguments from pc players (who are likely never going to buy the console version) about console animals.

Yeah guys, I think it’s time for a bit of a change of mood. Let’s talk about all the great things that both us PC players and the console players can look forward too once DLC season comes around, huh?

ANIMALS!!! as long it is anything but a wild yak, domestic yaks would be nice though.

I played for 6 hours on console and here are my thoughts:
  • I have a really good laptop but the quality on console is just insane, it’s like a totally new game, really. No lags at all. Everything works super fast.
  • Playing with console pad is manageable and easy. Building is harder. But I try to figure it out before I switch to mouse and keyboard.
  • I had a lot of fun with playing old scenarios and they made me realize how much I forgot about base game animals and how amazing they are. We should appreciate them more.
  • I really enjoyed everything so far and recommend it to anyone who is thinking about switching to console. It’s a really happy day for planet zoo. We’ve come really far with our favorite game.
  • Fun fact - console have the old version of Malayan tapir 😂
